Cosmic is at an exciting time in our journey and we’re now searching for a new CEO to lead us into the next phase of growth.
This role will primarily focus on four critical areas: People, Income Generation, Service Delivery & Governance. These unpin all the great work done by us as a charity. It will be your role to drive the future strategy and lead the team to success, alongside an established Board of Trustees
About Cosmic:
In case you haven’t heard of us, we’re Cosmic. A small charity that supports the children’s and neonatal intensive care units at St Mary’s & Queen Charlotte's Hospital by helping patients and their families, and by enabling our dedicated team of nurses and doctors to treat hundreds of babies and children in intensive care.
We go above and beyond what the NHS can't afford purchasing vital state of the art equipment, providing training for health professionals, funding a programme of ground-breaking research into life-threatening diseases and supporting families through one of the most difficult times in their life with one-to-one support, advice, counselling, accommodation for parents.
We have <10 employees, and are based in central London.
What you’ll responsible for:
As CEO, you will:
- Provide clear leadership, strategic direction and management for the Charity, its employees and volunteers.
- Elevate the Charity's income streams.
- Work with and support the Chair, Trustees and finance committee ensure good governance of the organisation.
- Ensure the continued development, quality levels and effectiveness of service delivery
- Increase the Charity's profile, reach and influence.
- Oversee the Fundraising, Finance, HR, Health & Safety and Operations Teams.

We are Caxton Youth Organistion. We are a specialist Youth club, creating communities, breaking barriers and empowering learning disabled and autistic young people in Westminster.
Interim Chief Executive Officer (Maternity Cover)
Fixed term: up to 12-months (from June)
Location: Based at our Youth Club in Westminster with some flexible working
Salary: £50,000-£60,000 depending on experience
Reports to:
Board of Trustees
Direct Reports: Head of Programmes, Fundraising Manager, Finance & Facilities Officer
Role purpose
• To provide leadership to Caxton for the charity to achieve its mission and deliver to its
beneficiaries.
• To be responsible for developing current services and developing new services that
benefit the young people of Caxton and is youth-led.
• To work with the Board and SLT to achieve its 2023-26 business strategy, plans and
targets - while ensuring the Board fulfils its responsibilities in the governance of the
charity.
• To ensure long term sustainability, through effective governance, sound finance and delivery of services.
• To keep the organisation on track to achieve its operational business plan.
Main Responsibilities
Leadership
• Provide, develop and implement Caxton’s strategic and operational plans, leading on
partnership and business development, and being an effective advocate for the charity
and our beneficiaries..
• Provide leadership for all Caxton employees, volunteers and associates including
direct management responsibility for three employees to ensure that Caxton delivers a
safe, effective and fun service for all of its members and their families.
Strategy
• To deliver the 2023-26 strategy.
• Implement a strategy review in the Autumn and tailor the operational plan accordingly.
• Identify and assess strategic risks, issues and opportunities and take responsibility for initiating and leading associated changes, with agreement from trustees.
Business Development:
• Work closely with the Fundraising Manager to ensure Caxton raises c.£500k pa to maintain in-years services.
• Work towards the achievement of long-term sustainability, developing the charity’s business model and maximising income, for example from fundraising, service contracts and earned income.
• To lead on the development of Caxton’s outdoor base and capital campaign

Financial Control and Governance
• Liaise with the Board, Senior Management Team and Accountants to ensure that the charity’s overall governance structure, policies and procedures are appropriate and effective, taking remedial measures and implementing changes as necessary in line with legal requirements and good practice.
• To ensure that adequate finance is available and to work with the Treasurer and the Finance and Facilities Officer, to produce regular management accounts and annual audited accounts in line with requirements.
• To attend all board meetings and quarterly subcommittee meetings, working with trustees on strategic matters.
Buildings Management
• To take accountability for the building management and compliance, working with the finance and facilities officer to ensure regular checks are made and the building is maintained within a budget.
Day-to-day Management
• Day-to-day management of the service to ensure it continues to be safe and effective. This includes being the safeguarding lead for the organisation.
Youth Government and Leadership
• To attend monthly Youth Government meetings and ensure that you are always amplifying the youth voice.
• To communicate effectively with young people with Special Education Needs and Disabilities.
• To liaise with external agencies and create new opportunities for youth leadership.
External Relations
• To develop and maintain positive relationships with private sector donors, statutory, partners and funding organisations.
• To develop and maintain positive relationships with partners, local businesses, funders and other voluntary organisations, building alliances and networks to further the work of Caxton Youth Organisation.
• To promote and publicise the work of Caxton Youth Organisation.

About us
Founded in 2022 by four co-leaders with experience of charity-led mentoring provision and philanthropist John Caudwell, Caudwell Youth mentors at-risk young people aged 11-24 years into new futures.
Through our unique 1:1 mentoring programme we bring positive change, showing clear movement towards reducing risk of exploitation and offending, whilst engaging more in their community, bettering their relationships, finances and overcoming personal hurdles.
We currently work across Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes, but with significant ambition to reach at-risk young people across the UK.

We now seek a values led CEO for Caudwell Youth to play a pivotal role in steering the organisation through its next phase of development.
You will work closely with the leadership team, the Chair and Trustees and to secure sustainable growth and drive the strategic direction of the organisation ensuring continued outstanding delivery through dynamic leadership.

We are looking for an exceptional and inspirational people leader who is focused on mission, vision and the values of our organisation. As a collaborative leader you will empower and motivate our skilled and high performing staff.
You will be skilled in working effectively and confidently across a broad range of stakeholders and crucially have a proven track record of success within the non-profit or social impact sector, with a deep connection and understanding of the complexities and challenges facing young people.
You will be ambitious and keen to develop Caudwell Youth whilst remaining committed to supporting the vulnerable young people we support. Developing an ethos of shared values and a positive and inclusive culture, your strategic vision will translate passion into measurable impact and ultimately increase our reach.
