Context of role:

2wish supports anyone affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young person aged 25 and under. We are a largely self-funded charity providing support across Wales and in the bordering counties with England, providing immediate casework support, as well as ongoing aftercare services including counselling, alternative therapies, play therapy, support groups, support events and a respite cottage.

Main duties:

Service:

• To coordinate support services including counselling, complementary therapy and play therapy for bereaved individuals
• To receive and contact historic referrals directly from professional agencies, bereaved individuals, or the immediate support team
• To contact all individuals within 48 hours of receiving a support service referral
• To liaise with counsellors, complementary therapists and play therapists to arrange and coordinate support
• To recruit new counsellors and therapists within your geographical boundaries and surrounding areas and build a community of therapists to engage with 2wish
• To deliver awareness training to secondary referral partners in healthcare settings, schools and workplaces on the use of the bereavement boxes, referring into the charity and bereavement awareness
• To set up, coordinate and support in the delivery of the focus support groups
• To plan, organise and attend bi-monthly family and sibling events
• To set-up, coordinate, and chair quarterly 2wish Practitioner Forums for those working to support bereaved individuals
• Attend any other relevant forums
• To co-manage, maintain, and monitor the 2Wish Families Facebook page and ensure appropriate and upto-date content
• To co-manage, maintain, and monitor the Counsellors and Therapists Facebook page and ensure appropriate and on-going training and guest speakers as required
• To send one-year anniversary thinking of you cards to bereaved families
• To work consistently to raise awareness of 2wish in the community and with key partners

General:

The post holder will provide immediate and ongoing emotional and practical support to families affected by the sudden and unexpected death of their child or young adult.

Main duties:

Service:

• To initiate immediate support for a caseload of families whose children and young people aged 0-25 have died suddenly and unexpectedly across the region
• To contact all families within 24-48 hours of the referrals by telephone
• Complete an initial assessment of families' needs to identify and plan the support as required in line with safeguarding and risk reduction
• Offer emotional support and advice to a case load of families through home visits and ongoing weekly telephone calls
• To liaise with the Counselling Support and Outreach Coordinator, who is responsible for organising formal support such as counselling, complementary therapy or play therapy, subject to consent from the bereaved individual
• To work with hospital staff, GP’s, police officers, coroner offices, mental health teams and other healthcare professionals to raise awareness of and promote referrals into the charity
• To liaise with other professionals working alongside the family to provide a holistic and multi-agency approach to support
• Attend relevant forums within the area
• To deliver awareness training in hospitals and other healthcare settings, schools and workplaces on the use of the bereavement boxes, referring into the charity and bereavement awareness
• To monitor the use of the memory boxes and ensure families have been offered a memory box
• To work with hospital trusts to establish and maintain the upkeep of suitable bereavement suites for bereaved individuals to use as required
• Facilitate debriefs within professional settings following a traumatic or sudden death of a child or young person
• To submit monthly/quarterly/annual reports to Bereavement Services Manager as required
• To signpost and/or refer to other agencies as required that can provide support as needed
• Cover members of the support team for annual leave and/or sickness

General:

Here at Rainbows Children’s Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care and end-of-life support to over 750 Babies, Children, and Young People living with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions, as well as approximately 3,000 people, including families, siblings, and carers, across the East Midlands. We are currently seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to join our dedicated Volunteering Team at Rainbows. Volunteers play a pivotal role in supporting every aspect of our vital work – from fundraising and events, to our retail shops and the hospice itself – with over 350 individuals generously volunteering their time, skills, and passion.

We are looking for a positive and enthusiastic individual who will help ensure volunteers feel welcomed, supported, and confident, enabling them to make a meaningful difference to children, young people and families across our services.

Location: Primarily an office-based role, at our hospice in Loughborough.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 am – 5 pm. Some flexibility is required, as occasional evening and weekend working and regional travel will be part of supporting volunteers.

About the role

As a Volunteer Coordinator, you will play a key role in shaping how people volunteer with Rainbows. You’ll lead on volunteer recruitment across the East Midlands, building relationships with communities and organisations, and supporting individuals to find opportunities that match their motivations, skills and strengths. Once volunteers are involved, you’ll help ensure they feel confident, informed and well supported, working closely with colleagues to create positive volunteering experiences.

We are looking for a Housing Night Worker to join our teams across Lansworth House and Gareth Stacey House, working flexibly between both sites to ensure young people are safe.

You will respond promptly to any reported incidents, accidents, or concerns, carrying out thorough checks and taking appropriate action to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone on site. You will also take a proactive approach to preventing anti‑social behaviour, working closely with support staff to maintain a positive environment. In addition, you will carry out one‑to‑one interventions with young people who may be experiencing a mental health crisis or who require medical assistance, ensuring they receive timely and appropriate support.

Main areas of responsibilities are:

Safety and security

At The King's Trust, we're passionate about helping young people gain the confidence, skills and opportunities they need to succeed. We're looking for an enthusiastic and proactive people-person to help us connect more young people with our life-changing programmes.

In this exciting and varied role, you'll be out and about building relationships with schools, community organisations, referral partners and local networks, helping young people discover opportunities that could change their future. You'll create engaging recruitment activities, deliver inspiring presentations and events, and encourage young people to take that important first step towards achieving their goals.

You'll support young people throughout their journey with us, helping them overcome challenges, access the right support and stay motivated as they work towards positive outcomes. Whether it's a one-to-one conversation, a group session or connecting them with the right opportunity, you'll play a key role in helping them succeed.

You'll also work closely with our amazing delivery partners and volunteers, providing guidance, training and support to help them deliver outstanding experiences for young people. From celebrating success stories to sharing best practice and organising events, you'll help bring our programmes to life.

No two days are the same. One day you might be delivering a session to young people, the next attending a partner event, supporting volunteers, or helping to showcase the incredible impact of our work.

We're looking for someone with great communication skills, plenty of initiative and a genuine passion for helping young people thrive. If you're energetic, organised, love working with people and want a role with real purpose, we'd love to hear from you.
