London Community Land Trust: Communities Manager

Communities Manager

£35,000 to £40,000 per annum, Spitalfields, London

Hybrid, Part-time or Full-time

Our expectations for our new Communities Manager are high. Reporting to our Executive Director and part of a small, friendly, and growing team. You will be responsible for supporting communities in London to develop new genuinely and permanently affordable community-led housing; the development and implementation of our approach to the residents we serve, including allocations, management, resale, and stewardship; supporting local community steering groups building relationships, supporting groups and local leaders, and coordinating the implementation of our social impact strategy.

This position also offers a real opportunity to contribute to the future direction of London CLT. Requiring an exceptional individual with a deeply held conviction for and in support of participation and grassroots-led ideas for change, a successful track record of leading or participating in successful community-led campaigns, and excellent interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability to build relationships and exert influence over a diverse range of stakeholders and deliver results.

About the role

Crisis is opening a new location right in the heart of Walthamstow. This is an opportunity to be part of opening and establishing a brand-new shop in one of London’s most vibrant communities. You will make a difference and deliver positive social impact in the local community while also raising money to fund Crisis’ work ending homelessness. 

As a Shop Supervisor, you will support the Shop Manager and Assistant Shop Manager to deliver an outstanding customer experience. You will play a key role in delivering customer service and supporting volunteers, as well maintaining the look and feel of the shop and processing stock. You will work towards ambitious sales and training targets, maximising the impact on our mission to end homelessness.

This is a unique retail opportunity where you will also be involved in delivering on the job training for Crisis members, supporting them to gain the skills and confidence needed in the workplace. You will work collaboratively with your team and will have opportunities to build your own skills and career progression through training and development.

To be successful in this role you will have significant retail or customer service experience alongside a genuine interest in charity retail. Title: Fundraising Officer.

Reporting to: Director of Development.

Direct reports: None.

Location: The candidate will be based in Birmingham, where they will work from home for the majority of the time (with monthly travel to the All Team meeting in London, and occassional additional travel). Role context: Stonewall Housing is currently growing its Development Team, and this Fundraising Officer will play an integral part in maximising Stonewall Housing’s income and raising its profile across the UK (with a particular focus on building relationships and partnerships in Birmingham and the surrounding area). It’s an exciting opportunity for the right person to make this role their own and to bring innovative ideas to our organisation.

Days per week: This role can be for 3 or 4 days per week depending on the candidate's preference.

Your experience:

· Experience of developing engaging supporter journeys.

The Role

This role will ensure the organisation is following robust financial systems and processes; carry out all day-to-day accounting tasks; and ensure timely production of financial information to inform management decisions. Most tasks can be done from home, however some tasks such as banking and petty cash reconciliation will require you to attend our offices. About You

A proven track record of relevant financial administration experience is essential and competence in the use of Xero accounting software, Excel and other MS packages such as word and Outlook is essential. Habitat for Humanity Great Britain (Habitat GB) is part of the global Habitat for Humanity Federation fighting global poverty and homelessness. We believe that a decent home helps to permanently break the cycle of poverty and allows families to achieve strength, stability, and self-reliance.

In support of our mission Habitat GB is introducing a  new home improvement retail store to Great Britain called Habitat ReStore, which sells donated home furnishings, appliances, and renovation materials.  Habitat has already successfully introduced ReStore to other parts of its global network, including in the USA, Canada and Ireland, with all proceeds helping us ensure more people have access to decent homes.

Job Purpose

As Manager of the new 13500 square foot ReStore, you will use your passion, experience and insight to create a compelling shopping experience for our customers. Working closely with both volunteers and staff, you will be responsible for developing, motivating and engaging the team to help you drive sales. You will move our mission forward by making the most of every donation and using your talents to create that truly one of a kind shopping experience. The ReStore Team must be creative, compassionate and excellent communicators. Job Description & Duties: 

· Oversee all retail operations including store merchandising, selling, space management, stock control, etc. 

· Administrative and clerical duties (daily health and safety inspections, inventory and donation processing, staff scheduling, etc.) 

· Manage scheduling and pick up of donations through fleet system.

Leadership and Team Building:

· Supervise, train and lead ReStore staff and volunteers.

• To induct, train and coach new colleagues, as evidenced through induction paperwork and development plans
• To role model and promote effective team communication, celebrating success and sharing best practice.

Customer Service :

· Problem solve and troubleshoot day to day issues and concerns 

· Ensure a safe work environment by adhering to and promoting store policies and health and safety protocols and best practices 

· Exceed sale and customer satisfaction targets to support our cause 

· Deliver exceptional customer service to our customers, donors, and volunteers 

· Deescalate and resolve customer complaints 

Learning and Personal Development:

· Foster a culture of learning and development, delivering on continuous learning opportunities externally and internally

• Ensure a safe work environment by adhering to and promoting store policies and health and safety protocols and best practices. Ensure training through morning huddles and other learning opportunities.

· Advocate and share culture for Habitat for Humanity GB and model our values and guiding principles.

Salary and Benefits offered

• Staring salary would be in the range of £30,000 per annum and dependent on, skills and experience

Hostel Support Worker

Position Available: 2 Support Workers

Shift Pattern - 11-week rolling rota including weekends:

Early Shift: 7:30 am - 3:30 pm

Late Shift: 2:30 pm - 10:30 pm

Appointment Shift: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Length of Assignment: Minimum 3 months

Location: 50-bed hostel in Vauxhall

Pay: £14.40 + holiday pay = £16.14 per hour or £18.00 via umbrella company

Description:

We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our social care client's team as Hostel Support Workers. This position involves providing vital support to individuals with complex needs, including substance misuse, mental health difficulties, and criminal justice issues. Our clients, both men and women, often come with their faithful companions, and we accommodate a few dogs in the hostel.

Responsibilities:

• Key-working and case management for a caseload of 5 to 10 clients.
• Providing individualised support and guidance to residents, addressing their specific needs and challenges.
• Facilitating group activities and workshops within the communal spaces.
• Conducting regular check-ins and assessments to monitor progress and ensure the well-being of residents.
• Collaborating with external agencies and resources to offer comprehensive support services.
• Signposting clients to relevant programs and resources for their personal development and empowerment.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly those with complex needs.
• Strong understanding and sensitivity to issues related to substance misuse, mental health, and criminal justice.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
