Job description

We are looking for a motivated, trustworthy individual to support the operations of our Corby Night Shelter project, working closely with the manager and move on coordinator to support the residents and volunteers. The aim of the Night Shelter and move on accommodation is to reduce rough sleeping and to move individuals on into more permanent accommodation.

This role will be integral to the smooth running of the project and to coordinate all elements of the project. This may be booking repair works, supporting with events, arranging training and managing the rota. The role will work proactively with other organisations to signpost and access other support, to ensure they are provided with advice and support that will move them on successfully.

There will also be a large amount of liaison with the residents, supporting them in setting up their benefits, helping with housing applications, arranging healthcare appointments and supporting their pathway plans.

This role may also require working outside of regular working hours / unsocialable hours, providing cover for volunteers in an emergency and travel across the county.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the project manager and move on coordinator in the day to day running of the night shelter and move on accommodation.
  • Ensure the premises is well managed and all health and safety requirements are met
  • Support in the recruitment, training and management of volunteers
  • Support the move on coordinator in their work with the clients, ensuring they have a pathway plan, supporting clients with paperwork and liaising with other organisations such as housing associations
  • Manage the night shelter rota of volunteers
  • Be responsible for organising the supply of resources and services required, such as refreshments, bedding and cleaners
  • Support the implementation of night shelter rules and policies with other staff, volunteers and clients
  • Work collaboratively with the other night shelter staff, outreach worker and local authority, and other partners to identify and provide services to those in need
  • Be part of the team in carrying out support with those in the move on accommodation
  • Maintain the database in liaison with the other staff for all clients, including those who are not directly using the services provided
  • Support with events and engaging other potential supporters and partners
  • Provide day to day support to residents as required, such as arranging healthcare appointments
  • To support the project manager with collating data and providing reports to management and stakeholders
  • To work within all ENCS policies, carry out relevant risk assessments and procedure to comply with health and safety
  • To ensure that all residents and clients are treated with respect and supported to enable them to move into permanent accommodation
  • To comply with and complete health and safety assessments
  • To attend meetings and training as required
  • To work closely with other night shelter staff and across other projects for best practice
  • Such other duties as the management may require from time to time
