Whilst a passion for and knowledge of gardening will be helpful, of more importance is your experience of managing information and meeting service-users needs.  This new role will require strong communication and relationship management skills and will suit someone who is comfortable managing a collaborative project in line with the objectives of the organisation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Engage Thrive’s staff, clients and volunteers in developing and improving our Gardening for Health knowledgebase, drawing on practical and real-life experiences.
  • Manage partnerships to further improve our Gardening for Health knowledgebase by learning from people with lived experience of long-term health conditions or disabilities
  • Monitor the outcomes of funded projects in line with the benefits management approach and KPI’s, providing service delivery reports.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to raise the profile and understanding of the value of gardening for health amongst professional and influencer audiences, such as at conferences, in journals and across networks.
  • Provide leadership to line managed employees, encouraging and motivating them to achieve their objectives.
  • Monitor and manage employee performance and conduct annual performance reviews; coach and mentor employees as appropriate to improve performance.
  • Provide leadership and management to volunteers where appropriate, encouraging and motivating them to achieve their objectives

Candidate requirements:

  • Experience of delivering an efficient information service focused on meeting the needs of a wide range of service-users
  • Experience of stakeholder engagement and relationship management; use of a CRM
  • Experience of running service-user engagement activities such as focus groups, feedback surveys and workshops
  • Experience of manging projects, a track record in delivering projects in line with KPI’s, budget and schedule
  • Strong written and oral communications skills and the ability to build rapport with a diverse group of people.
  • Understanding of content design or user centred design
  • Relationship building – ability to work in partnership and collaborate to achieve success
  • Solutions focussed, and ability to encourage teams to be creative in resolving challenges
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as being self-sufficient - comfortable working remotely from some (or all) colleagues

  • Knowledge of Social and Therapeutic Horticulture or therapeutic interventions designed to meet the needs of disabled / disadvantaged adults and/or children
  • Prince 2, Agile or other relevant project management qualification
  • Up to date digital skills; willingness to learn new systems
