The role
St John’s Foundation is looking to recruit a Finance Director.
As Finance Director, you will sit on the Executive team at St John’s, along with our CEO and our Director of Operations and contribute to the strategic direction of the organisation whilst embedding our values and embodying a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
You will lead our Finance, Technology and Operational Governance functions, guiding a skilled and committed group of colleagues. About you

1. Strategy & Leadership

2. Grants Management

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, positive and creative communicator to help our small team support and empower people living with a genetic bleeding disorder.
It might sound obvious, but we need someone who loves communicating - whether that’s chatting to supporters at events, writing engaging content or creating eye-catching social media posts.You’ll immerse yourself in the wide range of work our small charity does and help us maximise its impact.
Your main focus will be on shaping and improving content and engagement on our social media channels, with support from our Digital Marketing and Content Manager, but this is a varied role with lots of opportunities to get involved in a wide range of projects. There’ll also be ample of opportunities to develop your skills and experience – both learning from members of the team and through external training.
We’re really proud of the work we do. This year’s highlights include writing and launching a ground-breaking report on the treatment of women and girls, coordinating a nationwide celebration of sport and organising a weekend event for parents of children newly diagnosed with a bleeding disorder. - Assume the day-to-day running of our social media channels, with support from our Digital Marketing and Content Manager. About Us
The Bike Project is an award-winning charity which refurbishes second hand bikes and donates them to refugees. We were founded in 2013 by, Jem Stein, after he struck up a friendship and found a bike for Adam, a Darfuri refugee who had fled his home in Sudan after war broke out.
The Bike Project has grown into a national operation with new CEO, hundreds of volunteers, a team of 20 committed staff, roadshows in different cities, an online shop and two workshops, one in the capital and one in Birmingham.
To date we have supported over 15,000 refugees and people seeking asylum by giving them a second-hand bike. In addition, we have supported hundreds through our programmes designed to build confidence and build friendships in the local community.
Duites and Responsibilities
This role will provide maternity cover for an initial period of 12 months, with the potential for a 1–2 month extension. It will focus on developing new corporate partnerships and managing relationships with our existing corporate supporters.The role holder will work closely with the Chief Executive and Head of Fundraising, Marketing and Retail to ensure a strategic approach to the development and management of relationships with our corporate partners, enabling us to maximise the potential from them.
As well as leading income generation, the post will develop current and new corporate partnerships, providing personalised stewarding journeys.
Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of securing income directly from corporates for charity, both winning and securing new partnerships as well as maintaining and developing existing supporters. They will be able to prioritise, manage pipelines, research, pitch and manage partnerships to increase their value.
Location
Hybrid, with one day a week working from our London (Brixton) office. Occasional travel required to Birmingham, evening or weekend work.

The Cafes Manager will take full responsibility in leading and operating a successful cafes and catering operation, giving our student members an excellent service experience every day, looking to implement our cafes operation with new and innovative ideas led by the Head of Commercial Services. This role forms a key part of our Operations team, led by the Director of Operations. Comprising of both front facing and behind the scenes departments including; Cafés and Bars, Retail, Bloomsbury Fitness Gym, Human Resources, Facilities and Systems, the team delivers core functions and central services for the Union, as well as providing a diverse range of quality facilities accessible to our 55,000 members. As PR and Media Officer, you will play a crucial role in raising the profile of Marie Curie through compelling storytelling, high-impact media campaigns, and strategic press engagement. Reporting to the National PR and Media Lead for Research and Policy and working closely with the wider team, your work will directly contribute to influencing public understanding of end of life care, and positioning Marie Curie as the UKs leading end of life charity.
Your creativity, media know-how, and relationship-building skills will help us deliver standout coverage and meaningful public engagement that drives the charity’s long-term goals.
Main responsibilities:
Support the development and delivery of national PR campaigns that promote organisational objectives.
Help manage the charity’s national press office/newsroom, proactively and reactively responding to media opportunities.
Draft and distribute press releases, statements, briefings, and Q&As to position Marie Curie as a leading voice in end of life care.
Build and nurture relationships with journalists across print, online and broadcast media.
Work closely with internal teams to source stories and case studies that drive media impact and support strategic KPIs.
Identify and prepare media spokespeople and storytellers, ensuring authentic and powerful representation of lived experiences.
Monitor emerging issues and support on reputational risk and crisis communications.
Take part in the on-call rota, including occasional out-of-hours, weekend and bank holiday working.
Track and evaluate media coverage against agreed performance metrics.
Key Criteria:
Previous experience in public relations (in-house or agency), particularly in a press office/newsroom setting or as a journalist.
A confident communicator and skilled writer, with strong attention to detail and sensitivity when handling personal stories.
Strong knowledge of the UK media landscape and current affairs, with a proven ability to secure impactful coverage.
Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
A nose for a good story and the initiative to pursue media opportunities as they arise.
Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
A proactive self-starter, comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Ability to work unsocial hours as part of the PR team out of hours rota.

About Us
Rowans Hospice Charity provides free care and support to adults and their families living in the Portsmouth and South East Hampshire region who have a life-limiting illness. Established in 1994, our income is generated by ongoing support of the local community, donations, legacies, fundraising and through our retail shops.
Many people think that hospices are all about dying, but through our many different services, we support people to live as well as they can with their illness. From the moment of diagnosis through to bereavement support. Our Living Well Services put an emphasis on living with a life-limiting illness and patients and carers can drop in and gain advice and support to maintain individuals’ resilience.
The Hospice is also supported by an assembly of volunteers, from various backgrounds and ages who are crucial in supporting the teams to ensure people live well to the end of their life and attain a good death within a caring and compassionate environment.
The Role
To provide high-level, proactive, and confidential administrative and executive support to the Senior Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees. This role ensures the efficient coordination of meetings, communications and strategic initiatives by managing schedules, preparing documentation and facilitating effective information flow. The EA acts as a key point of contact between internal and external stakeholders, supporting the governance and operational effectiveness of the Charity at the highest levels.
You will be the lead administrator for governance, ensuring all statutory and regulatory obligations are met, whilst also supporting the effective running of executive meetings, day-to-day leadership functions and education placements.
Key Responsibilities include (but not limited to – see Job Description for further information)
- Provide PA support to the Chair, Deputy CEO, Company Secretary and SLT, including diary management, correspondence, travel, and meeting coordination
- Provide efficient and professional support to the Board of Trustees and delegated committees, including scheduling, producing annual meeting calendars, preparing agendas, circulating papers, taking accurate minutes and following up on actions
- Provide administrative and logistical support for Doctors and Nursing Student placements
- Develop and maintain efficient systems and processes for executive administration
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role ideally in a charity
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Professional and confident interpersonal manner
- Ability to draft high-quality correspondence and reports
- Experience in formal minute-taking and senior board level

About the role:
We are looking for a very confident, outgoing go-getter who loves using their gregarious personality to influence and enthuse people to get results but also enjoys being organised with strong admin processes. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has been involved in influencing organisations, businesses and groups or individuals to organise range of fundraising events, such as gaming, auctions, quizzes, gigs. You will be a part of a small but dynamic marketing and fundraising team and working with an Events and Engagement Officer.
This is a critical role for generating essential funds for the charity. You will love a challenge and be goal orientated. It is a varied role, and you will be someone who loves to multitask; you may be emailing supporters or potential fundraisers, making action plans, promoting, contacting organisations, or attending and speaking at events. You will thrive in this role if you love being organised and doing admin, but love being “out and about” interacting, influencing and motivating people to fundraise for us. Please note that you will need to carry, load up and set-up event materials from our office to events, often on your own. It is essential you have access to transport and must have a full, clean driving licence.
