The Senior Community Fundraising Officer role will be responsible for increasing the level of community support and income through the pro-active engagement with and excellent stewardship of high net worth individuals, community groups, committees, companies and supporters from the Parkinson’s community across the UK.
You will be an active networker and be able to spot opportunities to raise funds and maximise income growth through supporter led and event fundraising.
You will have demonstrable success in community fundraising, a solid understanding of supporter led fundraising and Facebook challenges, as well as a passionate and proactive approach to develop fundraising leads that deliver results.
This role is strongly focused on bringing in new community events and campaigns, and will suit an outgoing, positive and professional fundraiser who is used to working on their own initiative and wants to develop their knowledge and experience.
The Senior Community Fundraising Officer will report to the Head of Public Fundraising and work within the Events and Community team alongside our Senior Events Fundraising Officer and Events Fundraising Executive.

Senior Benefit Adviser (Income maximisation and fuel poverty)
Every hour, two people in the UK are told they have Parkinson's – a brain condition that turns lives upside down, leaving a future full of uncertainty.
You’ll work alongside our Senior Benefit and Employment Adviser to develop income maximisation and fuel poverty support for people affected by Parkinson’s. You’ll ensure that expert, high quality advice, information and support on welfare benefits, income maximisation and fuel poverty is provided to help everyone feel in control of life with Parkinson’s.
What you’ll do

Monitor and review advice and casework focusing on income maximisation provided by advisers across the service.

Act as the escalation point to support clients and advisers with queries, complaints and complex casework.

Work with the Senior Benefit and Employment Adviser in keeping our expertise on benefit and employment issues up to date and disseminating this information as appropriate.

Co-ordinate information, support and training on benefits and fuel poverty issues for colleagues and take a lead role ensuring knowledge and resources in this area are up to date and relevant.
What you’ll bring
The ideal candidate will have:

Substantial proven experience of providing benefits and fuel poverty advice and casework including social security tribunal work.

Specialist knowledge of welfare benefits in England, Wales and Scotland and current and forthcoming changes

Excellent working knowledge income maximisation

Experience of collating, monitoring and interpreting complex information.

Experience of delivering benefits and employment training.
-
Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information to a wide range of people.

Ability to prioritise own workload effectively and enable others to meet challenging deadlines.

Experience of operating in a modern digital workplace, including using digital tools and client record systems to work collaboratively and productively.

The vacancy
We are currently recruiting for a Service Designer to help us shape how we support Parkinson’s UK communities. You’ll play a pivotal role in a key programme that’s transforming how Parkinson’s UK interacts with communities across the UK. From branches run by volunteers, to activities created for people with Parkinson’s.
We know that people in local communities are making amazing things happen for people with Parkinson’s and those close to them. We want to make sure we support the people at the heart of these communities in the best way - so they can make the best decisions and drive the right initiatives in the ways that work for them.
To do this, we’re looking to embed a new community development model and we need you to help us design how this works. We want to ensure we understand our communities and their interactions, develop the best services to enable them and support them in the most effective way.
What you’ll do
You’ll set your approach for the discovery. In this 12 month contract, we envisage 6 months focused on discovery and 6 months designing the future service, prototyping solutions to inform a service blueprint to shape strategy and planning for delivery.
You’ll
- identify the different user groups and design and conduct research to discover their needs, interactions and experience with Parkinson’s UK
- map existing services and identify opportunities to improve
- work alongside a Business Analyst and Delivery Manager to design a future state where communities are supported in the way that’s right for them
- prototype and test ideas as you go
- embrace agile and lean principles and work collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers and people with Parkinson’s
What you’ll bring
You may not have been in a role specifically called “Service Designer” before and that’s fine. We know lots of transferable skills make great Service Designers!
The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator who can present and articulate ideas and concepts well and able to demonstrate:
- Experience in working through a discovery, from research to prototyping through to recommendation of how to deliver services at scale
- Strong research skills, knowing which research methods to apply when
- Excellent analysis and synthesis skills to identify and communicate the key insights

As well as flexible working hours, this role is offered on a flexible contract giving you the opportunity to also work from home, on an agreed working pattern. You will be required to cover your own travel expenses to the office.

Are you looking for an excellent entry level opportunity where you’ll learn and develop new skills in fundraising events?
You’ll play an active role to support our busy fundraising events team while providing general administration including dealing with income enquiries and events management support to deliver a wide range of event activity across the portfolio. You’ll be the first point of contact in delivering exceptional supporter care to help our events fundraisers to achieve their goals in order to maximise income generation.
You’ll help us achieve our ambitious fundraising goals to support everyone affected by Parkinson’s.
What you’ll do:
· Assist the Head of Events to plan, manage and develop Parkinson’s UK fundraising events to deliver agreed income, expenditure and profile targets
· Supporting the Events team with event specific administration tasks such as, sending out high quality thank you correspondences to supporters and researching venues
· Responsible for the management of team email inboxes including responding to requests and dealing with enquiries
· Assist and work with the Events team to develop promotional materials to support event activity
What you’ll bring:
· A keen interest in events management, particularly fundraising events
· Ability to multitask in a busy team environment, able to prioritise your own workload and using initiative to resolve and respond to requests
· Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with a range of people
· Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with people at all levels providing clear information, support and advice
