Education should be the means to break the link between demographics and destiny. Yet every week 109 children in England – equivalent to three full classrooms – are asked to leave their schools and never come back, with disastrous personal and societal consequences. The Difference, a young education charity, was founded to change the story on this lost learning. It exists to build the status and expertise of teachers working with vulnerable children, particularly those who are excluded from mainstream schools.

By 2030, The Difference want rates of exclusion and absence to be falling nationally and for schools to be better equipped to support all children, including those who may be vulnerable.

The organisation was born out of a year of research into school exclusions with think-tank IPPR. This research identified a lack of inclusion expertise in schools and proposed a new leadership development programme to fill this gap. In 2018, The Difference founder Kiran hired the team who took this idea from concept to reality, beginning work with our first schools.

The Difference is now a 22-strong team delivering multiple school leadership programmes, alongside a growing research and policy arm. The team is supported by our Youth Advisory Board, made up of young people who have experienced exclusion and who provide their expertise and insights on how school inclusion work should be done. This work is needed more than ever. Effects of COVID-19, coupled with the spiralling cost of living, have substantially increased levels of vulnerability. Schools serving excluded pupils face under-funding. The Difference has had excellent early impact but there is work ahead to capture this, share learning with schools and policy-makers, and grow our capacity to lower exclusions across England.

Our first permanent Head of Fundraising will drive the growth and sustainability of our fundraising function. Having proved the impact on exclusions via our programmes, you will help us generate the income to scale this success across the country. We need an expert fundraiser to support this journey. Key Responsibilities

• Drive the delivery of a new fundraising strategy for The Difference, motivating and involving key members of the team, particularly the Development and Impact Manager.
• Build and manage a dynamic portfolio of around 20-30 major individual prospects and donors with capacity to give £50k+, working with key stakeholders to solicit and close asks.
• Grow overall fundraised income from £1.25m to £1.9m annually in next 3 years.
• Write and submit funding proposals to major donors, trusts and foundations, and corporate supporters.
• Support the creation of engaging content from our impact data and case studies, for The Difference’s website and social media that could lead to online fundraising, including feeding into writing press releases as required.
• Build relationships with major trusts/foundations, donors or companies to secure 5 and 6 figure income
• Plan and deliver fundraising outreach to build out our list of fundraising pipeline.

Provide reception and general office support for our busy team

• Be the first point of contact for members of the public contacting Glass Door, answering the phones and logging all calls; dealing with incoming enquiries by telephone, email, website feedback or voicemail; passing on queries to colleagues as appropriate.
• Manage enquiries from guests and either responding to these or referring them to caseworkers as appropriate.
• Be responsible for day-to-day management of the office by dealing with incoming and outgoing mail (including franking and delivery to the post office).

Support our Fundraising, Communications and Volunteering functions

• Help to process deliveries of physical donations; scan cheques and ensure cash donations are recorded, secured in the safe and the Fundraising and Communications (FRC) team are notified.
• Provide ad hoc support to the FRC team such as ordering stationery / supplies, sorting equipment / doing stock checks and assisting with mass mail outs. 

Location: The post holder will have a normal place of work in Hampton Hill, London Borough of Richmond upon Thames and will be required to travel throughout the borough to support our other offices and outreach venues.

In this role you will be working alongside volunteer advisers, and be responsible for providing generalist advice to clients, including advice about financial confidence, welfare benefits, debt, housing, employment, immigration, discrimination and other areas of public and social welfare law.

The logistics and communications officer role is to support the whole staff team, volunteers and the stakeholders of Let’s Grow Preston. We are looking for a flexible, competent and creative person to join our dynamic team. The role is predominantly administrative, but there will be days when the role will require you to collect food for distribution, load and unload the van with trolleys and plants for an event, or just to drop off at another community hub.

A full clean driving licence is essential to enable the post holder to drive the charity’s van.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To assist and communicate with the support of Let's Grow Preston's existing network of community groups across the PR postcode area and support regular network meetings.
2. To assist and communicate with the support of Let's Grow Preston's existing network of contacts within the charity, public and private sectors; including local schools.
3. To support the work of the staff to ensure that all communications are delivered in a professional and friendly style.
4. To ensure that all volunteers have access to and understand the volunteer handbook and that any amendments in policy are alerted to the volunteers and staff in a timely fashion.
5. We are looking for someone to run our helpline and perform general administration office duties from our Birmingham office. A large part of this role is to provide emotional support to traumatically bereaved members when required.

Candidates must have a history of providing emotional support to emontionally distressed or vulnerable people.

 We are recruiting a Project Coordinator to oversee the delivery and development of a flagship Community Wellbeing Project, which operates in partnership with Brent Council. The project is a Community Hub hosted in a community space in Stonebridge (not in Sufra’s existing premises). Members of the project can access a Community Shop, a Community Café and Kitchen, and holistic support in the form of Advice casework and workshops. The objective of the project is to deliver food aid alongside wraparound holistic support in way that improves the financial, physical and mental wellbeing of its members, who are struggling with the cost of living.

This collaborative project has been made possible due to the support of multiple partners and has already proven highly successful. It is likely to form the basis of a new model of support for people experiencing vulnerabilities that will be replicated across Brent and possibly elsewhere in London.

The Project Coordinator will oversee the delivery of the project, ensuring both the shop and the café operate effectively and in accordance with agreed standards and procedures. The successful candidate will help shape the project in the months ahead, whilst supporting guests, collecting data, and monitoring and evaluating the project. They will have experience in a customer-facing role, dealing with the general public and managing volunteers. A lot of people know NCT for our antenatal classes, and we want to continue to support as many parents and families as we can to access evidence-based information. But we are also much more than this. We are a charity that campaigns on the issues that matter to parents. We run breastfeeding and infant feeding support, provided by specialist counsellors. We run thousands of free community activities and events across the UK, led by our fantastic volunteers and peers. And we support women and families facing specific challenges, such as social isolation, feeding difficulties or poor mental health.

Our Hackney Parent Support project is commissioned by Hackney Council, to offer infant feeding support across the region in both community and hospital settings and parenting courses for families throughout the Hackney region. The support is delivered by staff and volunteer peer supporters.

We are seeking a capable NCT Perinatal Service Delivery Manager who is passionate about supporting parents and infant feeding to lead on this project.  This role is home-based but will include travel across the Hackney region (expenses will be reimbursed).

About the role

You will be responsible for managing the parent support project in its entirety across the region. Some of the key responsibilities of the role include:

• Leading on perinatal peer support across the region.
• Managing the project staff team.
• Having a good working knowledge and understanding of the local demographics in the Hackney area and ensuring all services are accessible and inclusive.
• Engaging with communities through networking with other local organisations.
• Report progress on project status, timelines and delivery against key performance indicators.
• Participate in local perinatal networking/task and finish projects, so that the programme is an integral part of the local perinatal and infant feeding provision landscape, and is able to advocate for and chaperone perinatal service users at a strategic level, raising the profile of NCT’s perinatal offer locally and nationally.

You must have good communication skills and be able to build relationships and create a rapport with a wide range of people easily. This is a large project and covers multiple locations so you must be able to confidently prioritise your own work, be highly organised and able to work independently.

Being able to make decisions and respond appropriately to our commissioners, staff, peer supporters and parents and other external stakeholders is essential, alongside good IT skills– including Outlook, Word and Excel – and you must have good attention to detail.
 
It is essential for this post that you undertake the training to become an NCT Breastfeeding Peer Supporter. This requires breastfeeding experience of at least 3 months. The training can be undertaken within your working hours. There will also be training on the EPEC (Empowering Parents, Empowering Communities course) provided by South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.

The role is 28-35 hours per week which will be predominantly Monday to Friday within the working day, however, will include occasional evening and weekends. This is a home-based role, however travel across Hackney will be required.

Ruils is a user-led charity that supports disabled adults and people with long-term health and/or mental health conditions to live independently, be part of their community and live life to the full. We provide information, advice, practical support, befriending and accessible activities to our clients and families.

We are working with the SWL ICB and local GPs to deliver an exciting new service within Hampton North. The Community Health and Wellbeing Worker will speak to households about health and wellbeing, alongside offering support to connect people to services and activities in their local community. The role aims to empower people to take control of their lives.

It involves working with people who may be experiencing a number of issues, so you will need outstanding listening and communication skills, empathy and enthusiasm. You will need excellent organisational skills, be adept at seeking out information for relevant community services and have the tenacity to help people achieve sustainable improvements in their wellbeing.

Main duties include:

• Managing a caseload of households, providing monthly home visits and providing a continuous point of contact for all members of the household.
• Working with the client to assess their needs, create personalised action plans and locate support within the community.
• Supporting clients to prioritise and address practical, health, social and emotional issues in their lives which affect their wellbeing.
• Engaging with community organisations and specialist services that provide support to ease the pathway for your clients.
• Building and maintaining relationships with primary care networks, GPs, health care professionals and services across the borough.

We’re looking for someone with excellent bilingual communication skills (Welsh and English) with great news sense, demonstrated through utilising  bilingual media outlets in Wales, and a sound knowledge of Wales and UK media.

About the role 

You’ll co-develop and implement an inclusive bilingual media and communications programme across traditional, digital and social media and maximise our messaging and campaigning impact in Wales through powerful communications. 

You’ll build a sustainable team of proactive volunteers affected by Parkinson’s to energise our communications through their personal stories and participation in communications work.

What you’ll do:

• Manage, monitor and report on the bilingual web pages and Facebook page for Wales

• Maximise coverage for campaigns and fundraising communications in Wales, and produce creative content, including video

• Research and ‘sell’ stories to maximise coverage, involving people affected by Parkinson’s

• Provide Welsh language media interviews

• Conduct media and social media training for staff and volunteers and produce media briefings to support interviews

What you’ll bring:

• Experience of interviewing and case study collection within sensitive topics 

• Ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, the media and stakeholders in Wales

• Ability to work co-productively with people affected by Parkinson’s

• Ability to prioritise, work under pressure and enable others to meet challenging deadlines 

• Willingness to participate in the Media and PR out-of-hours on-call cover, and the ability to work flexibly, from home, as member of a dispersed team

You will act as a main point of contact for all Leaping Bunny technical enquiries and other potential new programmes, and in doing so, you will enjoy dealing with a wide and diverse range of people mainly via phone/email/video calls.

Your energy, commitment and experience will help propel the department and organisation successfully forward; and in doing so, you will help end testing on animals worldwide.
