London Plus has good links with policy makers in the GLA and London Councils, as well as funders (our funding comes from , the , and ). Stong connections and credibility help LP build understanding, partnerships, and develop solutions.
These networks help provide both hard as well as soft 'data'. There is less analysis and scrutiny of, and limited data about, the voluntary and community sector than other parts of the economy and society. LP help plug this gap by gathering data from networks and beyond to better understand and serve the needs of the sector.
Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- To identify, collect and produce data, research and insights from the voluntary and community sector across London
- To help develop and implement a qualitative and quantitative data and research strategy for London Plus to support the sector
- To work with a range of organisations on studies that inform and influence the work of the sector and public policy
- To maintain and develop partnerships with organisations which have a focus on data and research about London (including GLA, London Councils; local authorities; 360Giving; Superhighways; DataKind UK; Centre for London and other think tanks; universities)
- To work with other organisations to influence research programmes and increase the focus on the role and work of civil society in London
- To identify and promote the use of tools that can help organisations across the sector to collect and use data
- To advise and assist members of London Plus networks to identify, prepare and present data for publication
- To work with other organisations supporting data literacy across the sector
Requirements:
- Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
- Knowledge of social science research methods, analysis of research data and processes involved in publication of outputs
- Knowledge of packages such as R, Power BI, Excel, or Python
- Experience collecting and analysing quantitative and qualitative primary or secondary evidence
- Experience writing reports and research findings
- Excellent analytical skills
- Strong organisational and workload management skills including the ability to prioritise own work and reprioritise when necessary
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and persuasively verbally and in writing, to different audiences

Role Summary
The Senior Research Analyst will be responsible for working with and supporting the Research Manager, and wider SafeLives Research, Evaluation & Analysis team. They will support the Drive Partnership to ensure our data and reporting remains rigorous and robust by taking a lead role on the ongoing research design, data collection, analysis, and delivery of our work.
They will manage, analyse, interpret, and present data and information to the Drive project team and local and national stakeholders in order to optimise the quality of implementation of the Drive model, ensure that the project achieves the greatest possible impact, and inform broader policy and practice in working with high risk/high harm perpetrators to disrupt abuse.

An opportunity exists for a Director of Research to join the team to help ensure that the charity’s research engages with and advances the needs of the communities for whom the organisation exists to serve; is rigorous and respected; and has impact and influence on the policy environment, as well as the public law academic and legal practitioner communities. Perm, full time, or part time role. Hybrid in London.
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience of research within the legal sector. You will be comfortable working with leading academic institutions with a track record of published research in public/administrative law or a related discipline. Your communication skills will be of a high standard with the ability to convey complex legal themes to a variety of audiences. Ability to understand policy environment (opportunities and challenges) and how research can contribute to shaping and influencing that environment will also be essential to the success of the role. Through strong leadership skills, you will be able to develop a dedicated and talented research team. You will be highly personable with great influencing skills.

Read moreThe Chief Research Officer will ensure the smooth and successful delivery of TASO’s Research & Evaluation programmes, with overall responsibility for TASO’s commissioning budget. This will involve managing the staff involved in these functions to deliver TASO’s research, evaluation and evidence mobilisation activities to time and within budget. This is a maternity cover position to cover elements of the Deputy Chief Executive’s role.
Key objectives
- Act as overall in-house lead on all TASO research and evaluation activities, upholding methodological standards to ensure the production of high-quality casual evidence.
- Oversee TASO’s research and evaluation programmes, including ensuring adherence to all relevant procurement, legal and ethical requirements, delivery of research funding rounds and effective management of research and evaluation partners. Take overall responsibility for the TASO commissioning budget (£630k in 2023-24).Oversee the quality, accuracy and transparency of TASO research and evaluation publications
- Chair and oversee the running of external advisory groups to inform TASO research so that they are strategically effective assets for TASO.
- Oversee the running of the Research and Evaluation subcommittee of the TASO Board to ensure effective scrutiny of the Research and Evaluation programme and a clear line of support for the Board to understand our work.
- Act as ambassador and leader of TASO, speaking at external events about the TASO Research and Evaluation programme.
- Provide line management for four team members, with overall leadership for a team of seven.
- Work with the Chief Executive to develop and monitor TASO’s overall strategic direction, and to translate this strategic direction into the operations and activities of the organisation.

The Centre for Transforming Access and Student Outcomes (TASO) is an affiliate What Works Centre, and part of the UK Government’s What Works Movement. Our vision is to eliminate equality gaps in higher education (HE). Our mission is to improve lives through evidence-informed practice.
TASO was set up in 2019 within King’s College London and became an independent charity on 1 April 2021. Our work focuses on the generation, synthesis and dissemination of high-quality evidence about effective practice in widening participation and student outcomes. We primarily focus on developing and disseminating causal evidence (categorised as type 3 in the Office for Students’ Standard of Evidence).
Package
- Remuneration: £57,000 per annum pro-rated – depending on experience
- Location: Central London. This post will be hybrid with the expectation that the post holder will be in the office one or two days a week in addition to attending office-based project meetings. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK.
- Term: Fixed term, 12 months FT. (0.8FTE part-time will be considered.)
- Holiday: 27 days per year (pro-rata), plus public/bank holidays and a day off for your birthday
- Wellbeing: flexible working and a personal wellbeing budget
- Training and development : systematic performance reviews, personalised learning and development objectives and access to a training and development fund
- Pension: Employer contribution 8%
