About the role

The Events Officer plays a key role in our highly effective communications team, leading on the delivery of an impactful programme of events – both online and in person. The role works with teams from across the organisation to plan, deliver and promote all types of events, including workshops, roundtables, conferences, webinars, receptions and other types of online and in person events.

Events are an important way for Ageing Better to influence priority audiences, including businesses and local and national government, and the postholder will advise teams on how events can best reach these audiences, encourage engagement and lead to lasting relationships.

This role sits within the Communications team, and the postholder will be responsible for drafting comms content, such as blogs and social media posts, particularly in relation to event promotion.

About you

You are highly organised, with excellent prioritisation and project management skills, enabling you to juggle multiple projects simultaneously. You have good attention to detail and enjoy planning, solving logistical problems and delivering events to a tight budget.

You are a good communicator and are comfortable working in close partnership with colleagues and dealing with a wide range of people.

The salary band for this role is £35,000 - £39,000 per annum, dependent on relevant skills and experience.

Oaklands & St Kilda is a pair of 6 unit supported accommodation mental health rehab services working with young people between the ages of 18-25 who may have experienced a mental health related hospital admission to gain and develop skills for future independent living. The service will support individuals transitioning from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services to Adult services.

The service forms part of a pair of services supporting up to 12 individuals at any one time across the sites, providing a welcoming and supportive environment for young people across london on a spot purchase basis.

Specialist Support workers will manage a caseload of customers to help them to identify, plan and achieve their goals, develop relationships meaningful to them and achieve greater independence by providing a flexible and individually tailored support package.

Consists of working 5 days a week across all days, 8 hours shifts starting at either 8am or 2pm.

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting the implementation of the Unloc London Strategy

• Working in partnership with the Operations Manager to ensure the delivery of the Unloc London strategy. This includes;

  • Building new relationships with local schools and colleges. 

  • Facilitating a free to access enterprise event for local schools in the borough of Westminster. 

  • Delivery of workshops and presentations, attendance at events to to promote Unloc’s programmes and initiatives to schools, colleges and community groups.

Working in partnership and building new stakeholder relationships

• Liaise and act as a primary point of contact for current key stakeholders to promote Unloc’s work. This will include Local Authorities, Education Trusts, Businesses and Community Interest Groups. 

• Implement engagement strategies to build new relationships with key stakeholders through needs assessments and stakeholder surveys to gather insights into the preferences, challenges and priorities.

• Represent Unloc in external meetings, conferences and networking opportunities. 

Organise, plan and facilitate entrepreneurial skills and career pathway projects and programmes

• Organise, plan and facilitate bespoke enterprise and career pathways events (with support from the Operations Manager) for individual businesses, grant giving bodies, schools & colleges. This generally involves designing agendas, booking speakers, managing event resources, leading individual sessions, briefing event support staff, liaising with key points of contact and managing attendance from multiple schools, colleges and partners.

• Examples of recent programmes include our Burberry/Verizon Women in Tech programme, the Palo Alto Skills for Success project, and the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea Changemaker Programme . You can read more about these on our website.

Managing staff

• To line-manage multiple other members of staff in line with Unloc’s People Management Approach. This includes:

  • Providing wrap around support to individual team members when they require it.

  • Promoting a culture of excellence in programme management and facilitation.

  • Ensuring that facilitators you manage operate in line with Unloc’s policies, procedures and practices whilst instilling Unloc’s core team values.

  • Maintaining a working knowledge of each staff member’s portfolio and current progress on programmes and providing a source of accountability..

  • Holding regular check-in meetings with team members.

  • Carrying out formal progress review meetings with team members every 6 months.

  • Dealing with staff member HR requests and scenarios such as flexible working, holiday requests, sick days, etc.

  • Supporting staff members to make progress against their CPD plans.

  • Providing praise and encouragement to staff members, and formally recognising and sharing excellent practice.

Providing regular updates to management

• To provide regular (written or verbal) updates to management on current progress and achievements of individual projects you manage, this includes using and keeping each contract’s monday. com board up-to-date.

Providing additional support and opportunities for students

• Providing support and additional opportunities for young people you work with where possible, including the promotion of Unloc+

To support other Unloc projects

• To aid other Unloc projects as and when required by the team (in consultation between you and your line manager).

About the role
As Senior Health Officer: Knowledge Management and Communication, you will be responsible for the knowledge management and MEAL functions for the health team. This will include collection, collation and dissemination of learning and evidence from across key country and donor markets. You will also be responsible for the dissemination and communication through various platforms, social media outlets. Within this role you will play a key role in highlighting both internally and externally the health team's achievements and keep the Movement updated on the impact they have had both in the UK and globally, while also reporting on all active grants and partnerships. You will get to work closely with all technical advisors and play an important role in the production of the team's publications as well as in organising policy advocacy events at the UK parliamentary and global levels.

In this role, you will: 

• Lead on the learning, reporting and communications for the health team, including on the various advocacy projects, grants and workstreams.
• Play a leading role in editing the health team's reports and policy briefing documents, including any research, fact-checking or writing that is required.
• Lead on updating and maintaining the health team's web pages. While maintaining brand requirements.
• Deliver high-quality editorial content for a wide range of planned key corporate communications, in line with the organisation's priorities and brand, implementing Save the Children's editorial style and standards.

About you

The post-holder will oversee the management of Sightsavers Finance and Administration in the Cameroon Country Office. Reporting to the Country Director they are responsible for monitoring the country resource management and identifying risks or issues.

Key accountabilities but not limited to:

• Excellent financial management and risk mitigation through compliance with local regulations and adherence to the organisational Financial Framework
• Implementing financial management and controls; financial planning and budgeting; financial monitoring and audits
• Monitoring and retaining accurate financial records
• Leading support services for the country office through management of logistics and procurement of supplies
• Delivering/overseeing administrative functions, payroll; ensuring IT equipment functions effectively. All in line with organisational policies and procedures
• Working collaboratively with programme and finance teams to support and strengthen the financial management, accountability and capacity building of partners
• Supporting finance and programme teams with joint review of programme/project reports, planning and analysis
• Supporting proper financial and resource management of programmes
• Reviewing project planning, monitoring reports, auditing of funds

Essential skills and experience:

• Relevant professional accounting qualification or tertiary degree in Finance and Accounting (for example CPA/ ACCA/ MBA)
• Extensive workpro experience ideally gained within international development in a similar role. Experience of audit and government organisations also advantageous
• Proven work experience in financial management, programme/ project management and administration
• Strong project financial management, budget and data analysis
• Strong experience in grant management (for example EC, FCDO, Irish Aid or USAID)
