Purpose of the job/About the role

Research is a key element in Dementia UK’s strategic aims and runs throughout all our approaches to supporting people with dementia and their families. Our research is focused on care not cure, helping to improve lives and support our Admiral Nurses.

As part of the Research and Publications Team, we are currently seeking a Research Team Administrator to support in the delivery of the Dementia UK Research Strategy.

The team administrator will play a crucial role in providing administrative support to the Research and Publications (R&P) team, aiding in their operational efficiency, research, and development activities. Your responsibilities will include maintaining the research and publications databases, as well as updating and managing the R&P webpages. Furthermore, you will be responsible for managing the team inbox, handling inquiries, and assisting in the management of the team budget. Additionally, you will provide support to team members with their travel arrangements and serve as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders as needed.

The ideal candidate will have previously worked in an administrative role with experience of preparing and drafting meeting papers, taking minutes, and coordinating meetings. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint is essential, along with a track record of arranging meetings, teleconferences, and events. Due to service development, we have a fantastic opportunity for dedicated and enthusiastic Senior Supervising Keyworkers to join Barnardo's as part of the Greater Manchester Keyworking Service for Children and Young People (CYP) with Learning Disability and/or Autism. 

The keyworker role has 2 main functions:

1. Supporting children and young people with learning disabilities and young autistic people within their home or the setting where the child or young person is living or staying. Providing 1:1 support for the child or young person, and family. co-ordinating links with peers, community networks and other services, to secure the most appropriate provision to meet need now and in the future. The service tries to prevent avoidable admissions to hospital.

2. Understanding from the child or young person and their family experience, what supports a good family life and what gets in the way. This information will be shared in reports and at strategic meetings.. We currently have 4 full time posts available on a permanent contract. The service covers Greater Manchester and the service is split into 5 teams. Each team has a team manager that you will directly report to and work closely with.  The team offices are in Rochdale, Stockport, Salford, Manchester and Bolton.  As a Senior Supervising Keyworker, you will have knowledge, experience, passion, commitment and confidence to line manage and provide guidance to the team of keyworkers supporting CYP and families. This experience may have been gained in education, NHS services or social care roles through Statutory, Voluntary, Community, Social Enterprise or other providers. You will be part of the on-call rota system providing out of hours guidance, this averages one week in every 10 - 12 weeks for which there is an on-call payment.

Community Advice Works is an established community charity based in New Cross in South
East London. As the only charity in the London Borough of Lewisham offering a general
drop-in advice service, we are a critical source of support to vulnerable residents. We have

• Lead a sustainable and effective regular giving programme and increase participation across all year groups through campaigns such as Telethons and Giving Days, sourcing and securing match gifts as needed.
• Face to face fundraising and donor engagement of our small to mid-level donors; cultivating and raising gifts between £1,000 - £10,000 from alumni and friends, managing a pipeline of prospects and building relationships with existing and new prospects.
• Continue developing a student and young alumni programme that offers opportunities for networking and mentoring and encouraging fundraising participation among recent graduates.

Job Purpose

• To provide Information, advice and support to clients enabling them to remain independent in their own homes.

• To work with the Advice Service to deliver and maintain excellent services to AQS standard.

• To provide home visits and office appointments, delivering advice via a variety of channels such as phone, video call and face to face.

• To work with clients to deliver holistic support that promotes wellbeing, independence that reduces health inequality and poverty.

Key Tasks

• To provide quality-assured independent advice and casework support to adults across East London.

• To maintain accurate case records in line with all relevant legislation and quality assurance benchmarks.

• To conduct welfare benefit calculations and advise accurately on entitlements.

• To complete applications for welfare benefits and grants etc.

• To support people to understand their rights and challenge decisions made against them such as welfare benefit appeals to first tier tribunal.

• To deliver a holistic, person-centred and strength-based service focussed on independence and wellbeing.

These are newly created administrative roles to increase capacity in Londonwide LMCs, the membership organisation representing approximately 7,000 NHS General Practitioners in nearly 1,200 practice teams in London, providing pan-London leadership and shared committee services for its members. The organisation has an important role to Value, Care for and Protect general practice.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Primary Care team which supports committee effectiveness and ensures representation within Local Medical Committees within London. The post holder will report to the Director of Primary Care, working across local committees within the Primary Care team.

The focus of this role is to provide administrative support to Local Medical Committees, enabling the smooth running of Committee meetings. It would be helpful if candidates have a contextual understanding of the health environment or other public sector environments that we work in, along with excellent administration and note-taking skills. We would like to hear from candidates who have experience of:

• Owning the administrative tasks required to ensure Committee meetings have professional and timely agendas, papers and minutes/action records.
• Attending Committee meetings to support the facilitation of the meetings and ensuring accurate record keeping of meeting content.
• Working flexibly to provide cover across teams and for other Committee Administrators across Londonwide as required.

As an organisation, we work flexibly, and regular home working is supported. The post is contractually based at our offices located in central London near Euston where we host quarterly connect days for all staff. Whilst regular home working is supported, some travel or office attendance may be required to attend preplanned meetings. 

We have two full-time (35 hours per week), permanent posts available, but applicants seeking part-time/job-share roles are welcomed. The salary for the role will be £30,000 pa plus membership of the group personal pension scheme with a 16% employer pension contribution (£4,800 making total remuneration £34,800). Benefits include 25 days’ annual leave, flexitime and other flexible working options.
