The independent safeguarding chair role will be to:

• Help prepare our Safeguarding Panel meeting agendas.
• Chair these meetings.
• Provide effective scrutiny of SeeAbility’s safeguarding performance.
• Champion Making Safeguarding Personal.
• Constructively challenge those responsible for maximising performance.
• Help shape SeeAbility’s safeguarding implementation plan.
• Monitor progress of the plan.

Your experience & personal characteristics 

You will have experience of leading and managing others in senior positions and of chairing complex meetings productively.

You will have up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding adults legislation and best practice and extensive experience or safeguarding in the public and/or voluntary sector.

You will be a strong advocate for creating a safer culture and encouraging change.

At Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice we care for children and young adults with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions. Kinship are seeking to recruit two experienced individuals to provide

We know kinship carers are strong, capable and fiercely determined to ensure they get what they need to support their kinship family. And we want to support them to feel confident and empowered to do that. Kinship has been awarded funding to develop the first ever training programme for kinship carers. The programme will support all kinship carers across England in the caring role.

This is a new role and will be part of a brand-new team responsible for the delivery of this national training programme. You’ll be supporting the team to deliver high-quality in-person and online training across the country. You’ll help co-ordinate and support the successful delivery of our workshops.

The Cathedral’s mission, ministry and musical tradition are core to its life as a Cathedral and a parish church serving the community. It also relies on the valuable financial contribution made by its income generating activities such as its shop, café, conference rooms, corporate events and concerts. It is a very busy place, attracting 200,000 visitors a year to the Cathedral, its churchyard, shop and café. The Cathedral relies on a small but dedicated team to be inclusive and welcoming to all.

Role Purpose

This is a senior support post of essential development importance to allow the Dean, Chief Operating Officer, Chapter and committees to develop and maintain an effective system of governance for the Cathedral with adherence to the highest standards of good governance practice. This will include relevant regulatory and legislative requirements. The post holder will provide comprehensive and effective secretariat support for Chapter and its statutory committees.

Job Description

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Governance administration

• Assist in the production and submission of a range of information required in order to demonstrate compliance;

• Provide such other support at the COO reasonably requires including correspondence, research and diary management.

Committees administration

• Lead the co-ordination, preparation, planning and follow-up for meetings and other committee work associated with the governance of the Cathedral. This will include issuing invitations, booking rooms, issuing Zoom invitations, arranging refreshments and access needs, assisting in the drafting of agendas, gathering and circulating supporting papers for the meetings, attending meetings, taking confidential minutes, circulating and amending minutes and maintaining action trackers for the members of the following committees: Chapter, Finance Committee, Audit & Risk Committtee;
• Assist in the work of the Nominations Committee to recruit members for the new committees;
• Assist in the work of the Standing Committee as it prepares for Chapter meetings;
• Assist the Dean and COO in their governance responsibilities under the Care of Cathedrals Measure 2021, including being the point of contact with the Fabric Advisory Committee and liaising with its Chair and Secretary;
• Liaise with committee members and maintain good relationships;
• Liaise with professional advisers where appropriate and in consultation with the COO;
• Assist in the scheduling of training and circulation of information and papers for Chapter and committee members as required. 

Safeguarding administration

The Cathedral follows the safeguarding best practice and guidance set out in the Diocesan policy “A Safe Church” and also follows the policies and guidance set out by the National Safeguarding Team.

Reporting to the Cathedral Safeguarding Lead (CSL), the post-holder will:

• Assist the CSL in ensuring that safer recruitment practice is observed in all recruitment;
• Undertake the DBS checks for staff and volunteers if required, including verifying identity, submitting the applications and reporting to the candidate’s line manager/team leader when the checks have been completed. This will include advising colleagues as to which checks are appropriate and liaising with the Diocesan Safeguarding team and Volunteers & Community Officer;
• Maintain accurate records of all DBS checks carried out in a central register;
• Arrange for all new staff (paid and volunteer) to attend safeguarding training and arrange follow-up training for existing staff (every 3 years). This will include ascertaining which levels of training are required and which individuals will also need specific additional training for their roles;
• Liaise with the trainers to identify training sessions, book rooms and catering and arrange room set-up;
• Maintain accurate records of all safeguarding training carried out in a central register;
• Report to Chapter when required.

Additional responsibilities

• Support the COO in the coordination of risk management across the organisation;
• Arrange and manage the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) and parish clerking duties;
• Ensure timely publication of statutory notices in advance of the annual APCM;
• Assist the COO with returns, reports and filings for the Parish;
• Support data protection compliance across the organisation;
• Ensure that the highest standards of professional performance are maintained;

As a dedicated marketing resource in this small but energetic charity team, the role of marketing assistant is to help elevate Youth Talk’s story and brand awareness amongst its target markets. The primary focus and accountability is to deliver on fundraising goals, driving awareness and new funding leads from its designated target markets.

Reporting to the Fundraising Manager this will include responsibility for creating and managing impactful marketing content and campaigns that grow the brand profile and drive fundraising income. This would be working across all channels including social media, search, PR, events and website content. This new position will build on the significant work and achievements of the last couple of years and you will support the strategic development of our fundraising marketing plan. 

This will require working closely with all the Youth Talk team as well as sourcing content from corporate partners, funders and external suppliers and stakeholders.

As an excellent communicator, influencer, and relationship builder, you will have a proven track record of successful fundraising in this area: ideally securing between 6 and 7-figure gifts.
The successful individual must clearly understand what is meant by a strong brand / charity proposition and have clear evidence of creating and delivering compelling cases for support, with strong examples of this resulting in successful grants to the value of £50-£100k.
Building upon the current small programme, you will lead on initiating conversations with new funders; quickly building rapport and submitting compelling funding proposals and writing timely reports as necessary. This is the sole Trusts based role within the Fundraising team but works closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation to develop funding projects and applications.

Operations Director -Equally Ours

6 Month Contract -Up to £60,000k FTE

Charity People are proud to be partnering with Equally Ours, a UK charity that brings together people and organisations working across equality, human rights and social justice to make a reality of these in everyone's lives to help bring on board an Operations Director.

This is at an exciting and pivotal time for Equally Ours. At the end of 2022, they launched their ten year strategy, and as part of that focused their internal development in 2023/24 on becoming an anti-racist organisation - an ongoing commitment and journey. They are now about to embark on a structural and sustainability review to ensure they are best placed to deliver on the rest of their strategy.

We are looking for an organised, motivated, and experienced Interim Operations Director to give support with capacity, update processes, and ensure the operations are running smoothly and efficiently.

A small team and welcoming team, so leaders need to enjoy covering a wide range of duties, from the strategic to hands-on. The role will involve close collaboration with the Co-CEOs.

The main responsibilities are:

* You will lead on delivering operational, finance and people strategy as well as oversee finances, working closely with 3rd party finance providers to manage the allocation of resources and oversee budgeting, and grant management.
* Lead on all aspects of our HR function, taking charge of people development, staff support, finalise revised pay and wellbeing policies and implement changes
* You'll support the team to develop and manage impactful partnerships and stakeholder relationships, providing strategic advice on project delivery and ensuring our partnership arrangements are well planned and managed with care
* You'll ensure they are compliant, maintaining effective internal policies and procedures, and are managing organisational risks effectively
* Alongside the CEO, you'll support the board of trustees in ensuring our organisational governance is solid.

To succeed in the role, you will need to have:

The successful candidate will have successfully led a team and demonstrated experience of how to stretch people and strengthen their confidence. You will have strong organisational skills and have a proven track record in leading an operations function, ideally within the charity sector. It would be valuable for you to have experience of leading organisational change initiatives.

Citizens Advice Merton and Lambeth (CAML) is the leading advice charity supporting individuals and families across the London boroughs of Lambeth, Merton and beyond.  We provide a range of information, support and advice services.  We also work to raise awareness and understanding of the challenging issues affecting our clients and communities. 

We are looking for an accredited Debt Adviser to provide comprehensive debt advice and support to those in need.  If you have at least one year’s experience as an accredited debt adviser, passionate about supporting individuals and families in need and interested in joining a dedicated, professional team we would love to hear from you.

If you are not an accredited Debt Adviser but you are an accredited Generalist Adviser with at least one year’s experience, are willing to complete the relevant training, passionate about supporting Merton and Lambeth residents, we would love to hear from you.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work flexibly with clients.  You will be meticulous in your work, especially when supporting clients and maintaining case records for continuity of casework.  You will also be very well informed with regards to legislation, case law and policy changes relating to debt and benefits.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, full range of debt advice in line with Financial Conduct Authority and Debt Advice Quality Framework

• Commit to train for debt adviser (if trainee) and ongoing training/development (all roles) as requested by the charity

• Provide generalist advice in benefits, income maximisation and housing as required

• Complete Debt Relief Orders on behalf of clients (if accredited)

• Use your interpersonal skills to explore, listen and understand complex problems as they affect each individual and tailor approach to advice accordingly

• Provide a clear plan of action and follow-up on actions relating to cases as appropriate

• Follow-up on actions relating to cases as appropriate

• Identify and escalate serious problems, including safeguarding, appropriately

• Ability to work to own initiative within a team environment. 

• Work closely with service colleagues and wider CAML team

• Support clients in CAML offices and outreach venues

Monitoring Quality and Case Recording

• Ensure all client engagement and support is comprehensively and accurately recorded

• Work with your line manager, senior managers and charity colleagues to develop and improve services, and your own standards.

Person Specification

• Generalist Adviser certificate (Citizens Advice or equivalent) – Essential

• Accredited debt adviser (either through relevant Citizens Advice debt training, Wiser Adviser training). – Essential for accredited role
