We are looking for a part time Membership Officer to work 3 days a week, alongside our existing part time Membership Officer. Together, they will lead on administrative support of our membership functions. Reporting to our Office and Events Manager, the post holder will be responsible for the administrative functions that support the smooth running and ongoing success of the organisation around membership.

This is an interesting and varied role that acts as a first 'point of contact’ for the people we work with (such as Member Institutions, Registrants and queries from members of the public), as well as managing the administrative aspect of memberships, such as setting up new Registrants on our CRM system. The role also involves longer term project work such as overseeing the CPD audit and improving and growing membership processes.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with previous administrative experience who are keen to join our small and friendly staff team.

Salary: £53,968 per annum, rising to £56,809 after 12 months in London. £49,940 per annum, rising to £52,781 after 12 months outside of London.

How you will make a difference

As Business Development and Engagement Manager within the Workplace Mental Health & Training team, you will play a pivotal role in driving growth, partnerships, and engagement from corporate and community settings for both Mental Health UK and Rethink Mental Illness. You will work to secure funding from a wide range of sources, including commercial activity, public sector contracts and grant funding, to allow our work to continue and grow.

Working in our National Programmes team, you will ensure that we evaluate, plan for and respond effectively to bids and tenders, lead on the development of proposals, and support service delivery teams in implementing successful tenders/proposals. You will manage a Senior Business Development Officer who supports our work in positioning the organisation to respond to new bids and tenders and, where required, support the implementation of new services.

Chief Executive Officer, Remote, 35 hrs Salary £90,097

GFS is a feminist organisation with a mission to empower girls and young women in England and Wales to live their best lives. Girls as young as 6 tell us that they cannot be themselves. This causes problems for them and society. So, we offer an early intervention service for girls living in areas of deprivation to have the greatest impact.

This is an exciting role with an opportunity to lead the charity into the 150th Year of delivery and with a new strategy to address need. It will involve working with the leadership team and all departments but also the board and their support committees, the ambassadors, and presidents as well as the wonderful team of volunteers across England and Wales.

Who are Women’s Aid?   

Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. We are a federation of over 170 organisations which provide just under 300 local lifesaving services to women and children across England. Purpose of the Senior Communications Officer role:   

As Senior Communications Officer, the successful candidate will be a creative, agile and impactful professional, who will play a pivotal role in shaping Women’s Aid’s communications campaigns, working closely with the Communications Manager and the Head of Media, Brand and Relationships. The successful candidate will take the lead on generating creative, engaging content and ideas for Women’s Aid communications – including major campaign moments and brand awareness. Key duties and responsibilities of the Senior Communications Officer: 

• To be the key communications officer representing the communications team, developing the key messaging of external campaigns, brand-building and communications for the organisation and developing public awareness of these.

• To lead on planning, drafting and implementing a communications plan for Women’s Aid key communications campaigns such as International Women’s Day, 16 Days, as well as wider organisational projects, incorporating press and social media and providing media support as required. 

• To develop relevant media and social media contacts, as well as contacts in the sector, to maximise the reach and coverage of key communications campaigns as well as wider organisational projects. 

• To work with colleagues to ensure the campaigns take an intersectional approach and centres the most marginalised voices. 

• To work with a diverse range of survivor case studies and media spokespeople, including Women’s Aid member organisations, and to ensure they are treated in an appropriate and safe manner.

• To write blogs, news articles and promotional copy for Women’s Aid.

What we are looking for in our Senior Communications Officer: 

• At least two years experience working in communications/journalism/publications or similar. 

• Experience of liaising with a variety of individuals and organisations of all seniorities, internally and externally. 

• Experience of maintaining systems for information storage and retrieval.

• Experience of online communications/websites/social media, including Content Management Systems. 

• Experience delivering public-facing campaigns with a range of stakeholders. 

• Experience in getting effective PR results. 

• Ability to produce high quality written material, for copy writing, copy editing and publicity materials, posters and press releases. 

• Capable of translating complex information into audience-friendly messages. 

• Ability to carry out a range of research and information-gathering activities.

Our Talk Cancer training equips people with the knowledge, skills and confidence to discuss cancer and health with people in their local community, and to spread key cancer prevention, early diagnosis and screening messages to those who need it most.

Our Talk Cancer programme trains people through interactive workshops delivered by experienced nurse trainers (face-to-face, online, and interpreted into any language), our social media channels, and our newsletter. We also run an internal Cancer Research UK staff training scheme and learning plan on how to talk about cancer. We now have a great opportunity for someone to join us as a Senior Communications Officer. In this role, you can expect to support the effective development and delivery of Cancer Research UK's Talk Cancer training programme. This role seeks to maximise the reach, targeting and impact of the programme, as well as ensuring optimal engagement with new and existing trainees.

What will I be doing?

Responsible for key aspects of the Talk Cancer training programme, including co-ordinating all programme marketing, managing our Talk Cancer social channels, running our internal training offering and leading our efforts on targeting our training to the highest need areas of the UK.

In particular, you will be:

• Leading on promoting the Talk Cancer programme internally and externally. This includes creating proactive marketing plans and materials, generating and responding to relevant promotional opportunities, writing public-facing communications and creating engaging content. This may involve working independently or utilising the channels and expertise of other CRUK teams (e.g. our in-house design team).

• Engaging Talk Cancer trainee's by writing and sending regular newsletters and creating content for Talk Cancer's social channels and main CRUK channels

• Having ownership of all Talk Cancer web content, with the responsibility to review and update, ensuring the best search optimisation practices are used, as well as reporting on web performance

• Managing the 'Talking About Cancer' internal learning plan through updating content, responding to comments, promoting to staff, and reporting on performance

• Building and managing effective relationships with internal stakeholders who ensure the quality and accuracy of our content including colleagues in our Health Information & Cancer Intelligence teams

• Ensuring programme training content and marketing materials are in line with the latest audience insight, brand requirements and accessibility considerations.

What skills are you looking for?

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with an aptitude for creating content, and working with digital and social media formats

• Some experience of delivering communications or marketing activity

• Excellent organisation and time management skills with proven ability to juggle multiple tasks, prioritise work and meet multiple deadlines

• Proven ability to create project plans and coordinate a team of people to deliver activity

• Excellent interpersonal skills, with proven ability to build and maintain good working relationships with a range of internal colleagues and external stakeholders

• Good basis of understanding of evaluation and reporting methods.

The Role

The Senior Policy Officer will be involved in a variety of exciting policy work, including the development of three new sets of standards, the evaluation and development of the revalidation framework, stakeholder engagement, and work on the regulation of online pharmacy, amongst others. This is an important role that will provide the opportunity to develop policy skills and work on interesting programmes of work.

This is a hybrid role with flexible working arrangements, where the team mostly works remotely and co-locates 1-2 days a month, or as required.

This role is subject to a basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of our pre-employment due diligence.

The successful applicant will:

• Develop and manage a variety of different stakeholder relationships, including with internal colleagues across the organisation as well as external stakeholders from across the pharmacy sector, including membership bodies, representative bodies, and other healthcare regulators, as well as patients and the public.

This role will oversee the charity’s engagement with the business community, with a particular focus on the Out of Home and manufacturing sectors. This involves having strategic oversight of and managing relationships with businesses across the UK food system and positioning ourselves as insight-led critical friends. 

The B&IE team engages major food businesses on actions they can take to shift the UK towards more healthy and sustainable diets in order to tackle food system issues such as climate change, nature loss, diet related disease and dietary inequalities. We provide insight and analysis underpinned by our Plating Up Progress benchmark to support and hold businesses to account in increasing sales of healthier and more sustainable foods and in shifting towards more responsible business practices.

The business engagement lead will work closely with the Senior Business and Investor engagement manager to build and develop relationships with the Out of Home and manufacturing sectors, oversee the Food Foundation’s role in an exciting new partnership with a major broadcaster in support of more plant rich diets, oversee the delivery of our flagship report – The State of the Nation’s Food Industry (SOFI) - and collaborate with civil society partners also working in this space.
