About the role
Come and join our small but brilliant Membership and Learning team. We have an ambitious strategy to strengthen the network through growing a culture of continuous learning, improving member insight and developing targeted learning.
We’re looking for someone who can support the team to develop, co-create, train and deliver inclusive and exciting learning that encourages creativity, curiosity and critical thinking in the areas of philanthropy and grant making. JOB SUMMARY
The post holder will work with faculty and BIR staff in the development and use of new learning technologies to support the educational mission of the BIR.
The post holder will manage the existing e-learning resources as well as develop new e-learning offering to our members and users. The poster holder will offer expert guidance, advice and direction on the design, development and implementation of e-learning materials and resources, and the use of interactive educational technologies to lead the e-learning development in BIR.
KEY RESULT AREAS
Manage the e-learning content
• Create new e-learning resources with subject specialists in medical imaging. This includes new initiatives (video course) as well as online learning library content and other e-learning offering.
• Lead and oversee the instructional design for the video courses
• Manage and review the content on the online learning library, including post-event videos, webinar series and training videos etc. Ensure the content are relevant for all categories and promote to our community
Manage the e-learning projects and implementation of e-learning system
• Develop and implement plans and timelines in collaboration with faculty and BIR staff to enable the phased introduction of e-learning projects and systems.
• Lead the team and work across the department to design, develop and manage the online learning elements including layout, tools, templates, authoring and processes.
• Manage all BIR learning systems including live platforms, Learning Management System as well as CRM system for event registration, online learning library and e-posters
• Develop and design technological solutions for problems specific to BIR educational activities.
• Maintain and review the systems for new updates to improve staff and user experiences
• Manage budget of the projects and ensure surplus of any e-learning development

The volunteering experience team is working to improve the experience of volunteering for every volunteer at Scouts (and those who’ve not yet joined us.) We want to make volunteering easier and more fun. We want to involve more volunteers so we can reach more young people and new communities. We want our volunteers to better reflect their local communities and national demographics, and ensure that every volunteer feels a valued part of Scouts.
Key responsibilities as our Learning Designer:
- Explorer how we can use our new Learning Experience System to provide great learning experiences for our volunteers
- Further develop our Competency Frameworks and translate them into engaging learning experiences and journeys
- Explore catalogues and various sources of learning content to curate the best offerings for our adult volunteers
- Design and develop e-learning content in Lectora, the Learning Experience System, Vyond, and with any other tools that help us deliver great learning experiences
- Design and develop other learning resources – texts, training sessions, interactive workshops, communities of interest, videos, etc.
What we are looking for in our Learning Designer:
- Demonstrable knowledge and passion for learning design and delivery.
- An up-to-date knowledge of good learning design
- Ability to translate from values, Competency Frameworks and key messages to engaging and meaningful learning experiences that puts the learner first.
- Good technical and digital skills – xAPI, SCORM, Widgets and other such terms do not scare you, and you are happy to learn about and engage with the technical aspect of Learning Systems and IT integrations.
- Willingness to work as part of an Agile team.
- Knowledge and/or skills in Inclusive Design and Accessibility
- Able and willing to work evenings and weekends

We have three 12 month, fixed term contract opportunities within our Knowledge and Learning team within the Scotland Directorate.
These are exciting opportunities to join our small team as a Knowledge and Learning Officer, working on a variety of projects to provide informed insight on a range of grant-making themes.
As part of our Knowledge and Learning Team here in Scotland, you will work alongside Funding, and Communication and Engagement teams, as well as Knowledge and Learning colleagues across the UK. The role is flexible and varied, responding to the needs of colleagues and stakeholders to lend research or policy expertise, facilitating engagement events and sharing findings and recommendations.
A key aim of this work is to gather and analyse qualitative and quantitative data from our funding programmes and the policy landscape to shape funding decisions and priorities.
• You will be able to see the ‘bigger picture’ of our grant-making work and apply creative approaches to identify and embed learning across geographic and thematic areas.
• You will have sound critical thinking, thematic analysis and research skills and an ability to convey effective, impactful information for a variety of audiences.
• You will be sensitive to ethics in research design and implementation.
As part of the role you will host and facilitate learning events, both in person and online, and therefore you’ll have sound facilitation and networking skills. Occasionally you will have the opportunity to work with grant-holders, external partners and other funders, requiring excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• You will be collaborative in nature and enjoy working proactively and in partnership with colleagues across the fund. An open, supportive and flexible team working approach is necessary.
• You will be adept at managing a busy and varied workload.
• You will often be responding to short notice requests for information and guidance, while balancing longer term research/report writing and presentation.
• You will be curious to explore and test new ideas and ways of working, to ensure our funding reaches those at greatest need. As such an awareness of public policy, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), and participation methods would be useful.
• Familiarity with digital communication tools would be advantageous.

Role Purpose
The intern will provide general support to the programmes and learning team, including with administration of programmes and grant compliance, partner communications, logistics and (online) event organisation. Depending on the strengths and interests of the selected candidate and the needs of Womankind, the intern will also have the opportunity to lead on some specific projects or tasks and to work with colleagues from other departments.
Responsibilities
- Administrative grant management support, including:
- Receipt and acknowledgement of grant applications
- Review of grant applications against initial criteria
- Drafting of grant agreements and transfer requests
- Review of narrative and financial reports
- Keeping updated records of grant information, including data entry
- Communications and learning:
- Liaising with Womankind colleagues and partners regarding grant applications, reports and compliance issues

- Drafting articles/blog posts regarding topics related to Womankind’s grant making for publication on our website

Reporting Structure
This role sits within the Programmes and Learning (P&L) team, which is part of the broader Policy, Programmes and Learning Team (PPL). The intern will provide support to colleagues across P&L and report to the Programme Management Officer, with a dotted line to the Programme Manager: Innovation and Partnerships.
