The Role

As the Legacies Manager, you will assume a pivotal role within our dynamic Partnership and Development team. Your primary responsibility will be to lead the strategy and execution of our legacy programme, driving forward our mission to support vulnerable children, young people, and families across the UK. Drawing upon your strategic vision and extensive experience in fundraising, you will design and implement innovative legacy campaigns aimed at maximising income generation and expanding the reach of the organisation’s Family Hubs.

Your day-to-day activities will involve collaborating closely with fundraising and partnership development experts to develop compelling legacy propositions and engage potential donors effectively. You will leverage your exceptional interpersonal skills to build and nurture relationships with legacy supporters, inspiring them to leave a lasting impact through their philanthropy. Additionally, you will utilise your expertise in data analysis to inform decision-making and refine campaign strategies, ensuring optimal outcomes and return on investment. Key responsibilities of the Legacies Manager include:

• Develop and implement a legacy strategy/plan aligned with the charity's goals to increase/improve outreach to and engagement with legacy supporters and raise legacy income around agreed goals.
• Provide excellent stewardship to all supporters who engage with legacies, working with stakeholders to ensure journeys are insight-led, respond to audience needs, and are well documented and reported upon.
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of legacy giving initiatives and regularly report on progress to senior leadership and key stakeholders. Use data and analytics to inform decision-making and continuously improve strategies for maximising legacy support.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the end-to-end process for delivering the legacies plan is designed and documented. This includes solving problems in circumstances where there is minimal guidance available from established practices and precedents within the organisation.
• Work closely with the Head of Relationship Fundraising and other fundraising colleagues to ensure that all fundraising activities are well-coordinated and contribute towards the overall fundraising strategy.
• Identify growth opportunities that foster organisational projects which impact and improve the Legacy programme.
• Develop and execute marketing and promotional campaigns to raise awareness of legacy giving opportunities within the organisation. Utilise various communication channels, including digital platforms, events, and printed Job Description & Person Specification materials, to effectively promote the importance of legacy giving and its impact on the organisation's mission.

The Senior Legacies Manager is a reworked position that will manage relationships with high-value legacy pledges and create and implement a legacy marketing strategy for the Academy. About the role

• Responsible for legacy income of between £2.5-3 million a year
• Management of the legacy portfolio, ensuring excellent stewardship and communications to current and prospective high value pledgers

• Work with external legacy administration consultants, preparing reports for SMT and ensuring compliance

About you

• Experience of relationship based legacy fundraising as well as experience of legacy marketing

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with one of the UK’s leading charities as Legacy Income Manager and make a significant contribution to helping save lives at sea.

Two thirds of the RNLI’s operations are funded from legacies, and we are looking for the right individual to lead the Legacy Income department, ensuring that income is maximised, and all legal requirements are met. Dealing with over 4,000 open cases at any point in time, the department offers the full range of technical challenges including dealing with the funding of up to 100 projects.

You will serve as an ambassador of the RNLI in dealing with banks, executors, solicitors and other charities as well as providing a first-class service to internal departments, executive management, our trustees and volunteers.

We are looking for an excellent people manager with a strong technical background in legacy administration. You will have significant probate experience gained preferably in a charitable environment, be an expert in dealing with contentious matters and will ideally be a member of the Institute of Legacy Management.

As our Legacy Officer you'll be responsible for the day-to-day administration of legacies in accordance with our policies and strategy. You'll manage your own caseload of largely residuary legacies, working up to include complex and contentious cases. Our Legacy team is sector leading. You’ll have the opportunity to build the British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) reputation as a good recipient of legacies and increase the BHF’s income from bequests.

Over half of our income comes from people leaving a gift to us in their Will. Charitable legacies are therefore vital to enable us to continue our life-saving research programme to fight cardiovascular disease.

Working arrangements

This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office.

As our Senior Marketing Manager, you will play a pivotal role in our fundraising strategy. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team to raise unrestricted income by engaging schools and workplaces to participate in Christmas Jumper Day and raise much-needed funds for children for 6 months of the year. For the other 6 months of the year, you will lead marketing and fundraising projects across Public Income and Engagement to drive us towards Save the Children's goal of raising £60 million by 2030.

The Role

Job purpose and key responsibilities

This new role in the Individual Giving and Engagement team will lead the Legacy and Supporter Experience functions to deliver integrated supporter journeys. This will be an exciting and varied role which will give the post holder the freedom to use their creativity to improve our supporters’ experience and increase CARE’s income from legacies. You will ensure all of our supporters feel valued, close to the people we serve and that they are making a real difference through CARE.

You will use your experience and drive to build a successful legacy marketing programme and enhance our supporter experience, ensuring a stable pipeline for future income.

The role is responsible for developing CARE International UK’s legacy marketing programme and leading on our wider supporter experience. The post holder will devise and implement strategies to meet targets. The role leads on planning for legacy marketing, ensuring audience insight and effective targeting are at the heart of the programme. And will deliver marketing campaigns via offline and online channels.

The role needs someone who thinks creatively and will apply their entrepreneurial spirit to developing a successful programme. The role will distil CARE’s work down to compelling propositions to demonstrate the impact of gifts and will inspire more people to continue supporting for the long-term.

Key tasks will include:

• Lead the development of and promote the delivery of three new RSPB Nature Prescriptions to people living in diverse communities within Cardiff and the surrounding area.
• Develop relationships with key stakeholders in the NHS, health care and social care professionals to inspire and enable them to feel engaged and supported to co-create and prescribe a Nature Prescription, and to connect RSPB with the health sector to help create doors for future work.
• Engage with local healthcare professionals and community groups to co-design Nature Prescriptions materials with local people, community groups and healthcare professionals so that they reach a large diversity of people, and those that need and can benefit the most.
• Develop the project plan and ensure that the right governance structure for project management is in place and RSPB internal project management practices are followed, so that the project stays on track, comes in on budget and risks are identified, escalated, and managed within tolerances.
• Work with local environmental networks to build a picture of nature-based activities available and identify opportunities for partnership working.
• Lead on developing ways to evaluate and measure the impact of the project, including engaging with those prescribing and local communities to gather stories and case studies that demonstrate the benefits to wellbeing and connectedness to nature.
• Build internal relationships with RSPB employees and volunteers working with nature prescribing and nature and wellbeing across the UK.
• Develop a strategy and plan for Nature and Wellbeing work legacy aiming to learn from the work done in Scotland and England and from the communities and health care professionals in Cardiff and surrounds to support development of future work in Cardiff and beyond.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Experience of working within or alongside the health and wellbeing sector.
• Project management experience with experience of leading on and developing and delivering projects with diverse communities.
• Experience of developing external partnerships and balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders.
• Experience in delivering workshops or training, ideally with a co-design element.
• Excellent verbal and written communicator able to communicate nature and wellbeing messages in a way that is understood by a range of audiences and that engenders their support.
• Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage and deliver a varied workload.
• Skilled in using Microsoft 365 suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.

Desirable skills, knowledge, and experience:

• Experience of SharePoint management.
• Experience of recruiting and managing volunteers.
• Welsh speaker or learner.

About the role

Designing and developing marketing plans and campaigns for legacy and In Memorium giving under the guidance of the Individual Giving Manager, you will be responsible to ensure legacy fundraising is promoted as an integral part of CHSW fundraising and in line with CHSW’s fundraising strategy, to include development of and leading new fundraising initiatives and relevant events.

You will be leading, driving, developing, and delivering Gifts in Wills and In Memorium appeals and campaigns, developing effective Will writing and Tribute Fund partnerships and accountable for growth in legacy and In Memorium supporter bases.

You will be responsible for growing our legacy enquiries and pledgers and In Memorium donors and Tribute Fund holders by effective attraction, engagement, and stewarding strategies.
In addition to this, you will be supporting the Legacy Officer with the administration of the legacy notification caseload.

The successful candidate will have:

• Experience of working in a fundraising and/or marketing environment and developing integrated campaigns
• A proven track record of income generation working to targets and deadlines.
• Experience of successfully managing a wide range of activities in a team environment
• Strong interpersonal skills, to include verbal and written communication.
• Confidence, be engaging and have influential written/verbal communications skills, including public speaking.
• A full driving licence and (or ability to travel within the region).
• A qualification or relevant experience in Legacy Marketing/Administration and/or Fundraising would be advantageous but is not essential.
