Having already raised £9.9 million for our Up Against Time Appeal, London’s Air Ambulance Charity is currently in the final phase of our campaign to raise £15million by September 2024 to replace our two helicopters. The postholder will provide the programme with the stability, expertise and guidance needed to steer the Major Donor team through the first year of a new strateg. ROLE
Stella Maris is growing as a charity, in terms of income generation and new programmes of activity around the world. To help support this development, we have created this new important role. The Fundraising & Communications team at Stella Maris comprises about 12 staff members (some full time; some part time). The team and the charity have now reached the point in their evolution where we need to appoint a Major Donor Manager. This post holder will offer excellent stewardship to our existing Major Donors. He/she will also help to identify and cultivate new potential Major Donors from within and outside our existing pool of individual donors. He/she will substantially grow the Major Donor income stream for the charity. He/she will cultivate and steward Major Donors to give in new and more impactful ways, will increase giving levels, will increase the number of Major Donors, and will create lasting and meaningful relationships with our most committed and generous supporters. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, motivated and effective Major Donor fundraiser. The postholder will help us, as a leading maritime charity, to achieve our mission to support seafarers, fishers and their families around the world.
MAIN PURPOSE
The Major Donor Manager, reporting into the Director of Development and working with some guidance from the Head of Major Gifts, will maintain and grow a stable pipeline of income from Major Donors. He/she will secure unrestricted and restricted income from a portfolio of Major Donors to support the activities of the Stella Maris network in the UK and overseas. He/she will produce cultivation plans for individual Major Donors, meet them, craft tailored applications and reports for them.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1 Manage relationships with a portfolio of Major Donors in accordance with the Charities fundraising strategy and giving programme activity.
2 Establish individual donor cultivation, engagement and stewardship strategies, ensuring each prospect and existing donor has an appropriate communications and cultivation programme in place.
3 Ensure that donor profiling and research activity is undertaken on existing and potential Major Donors (within data protection regulation guidelines) in order to enhance and develop relations.
4 Identify potential Major Donors from within the Mid-Value Donor portfolio and help graduate them up to Major Donor giving levels.
5 Working with the Governance and Executive team, conduct meetings and visits with individual Major Donors around the UK.
6 Accompany Major Donors on port visits within the UK and possibly abroad.
7 Craft carefully tailored applications, thank you letters and reports for Major Donors.
8 Support other senior staff and stakeholders, such as Trustees, in cultivating relationships with Major Donors by providing research and other information as required, and bringing them to meetings with Major Donors when appropriate.
9 Build and cultivate relationships with intermediaries, e.g. wealth advisers, lawyers.
10 Arrange events for Major Donors.
11 Ensure that all activity is recorded accurately on the charity’s Customer Relationship Management database, and that actions are undertaken in a timely and professional manner.
12 Extract monthly reports on activity levels with Major Donors, e.g. number of contacts, meetings, asks, etc., and circulate this internally to selected senior staff members.

Free Tibet is a small but effective campaign organisation based in south London. Job Description
Fundraising
- Oversee all income-generation activity across Free Tibet and Tibet Watch. Ensure continuous improvement and innovation and an appropriate balance of fundraising activity across all streams. Current streams include postal appeals, online appeals, and the Free Tibet online shop.
- Manage applications for grant funding on behalf of both Free Tibet and Tibet Watch, working with the Fundraising Officer to build a strong portfolio of five and six-figure grants and steward them for renewal.
- Lead on the recruitment and retention of donors, especially Major Donors, and redevelop supporter journeys and stewardship programs.
- Evaluate new ideas for income generation and strategies for implementation, especially corporate and challenge events / community fundraising.
- Impact reporting of fundraising activity and the performance of quarterly appeals, with a view to improve internal processes for greater income innovation and ROI.
- Liaise with the Free Tibet Campaigns & Research Teams to ensure that campaigning, digital and fundraising activities are seamlessly coordinated.
- Managing relationships with third party agencies, like mailing services and digital mobilisation agencies, making sure projects are delivered on time, on budget and to the highest standard.
- Ensure that our new Client Relationship Management (CRM) system, Raiser’s Edge NXT, is used effectively and to its full potential.
- Take a supporter-facing role in managing relationships with Major Donors, leading by example in securing mission-critical income.
- When needed, providing on-the-ground support for direct marketing, including copywriting and editing.
Leadership & Management
- Line manage the Fundraising Team, which currently consists of a full-time Fundraising Officer, part-time Administrative Assistant, and part-time Supporter Care & Shop Officer, nurturing their professional development and working collaboratively to produce fundraising projects.
- Act as a leader within the organisation, representing staff to the board and executive committee where appropriate.
- Work with the Finance and HR manager to monitor expenditure against budget and prepare regular reports on expenditure and projected income for the Free Tibet and Tibet Watch boards.
- Develop annual and project-specific Fundraising Strategies, reporting on appropriate indicators.
General Responsibilities
- Participating in regular team meetings.
- Participate in events and actions as required, with protest attendance highly encouraged.
- Ensure that volunteers working with your team are managed appropriately.

Person Specification
Essential
- Proven ability to look at the big picture of an organisation’s fundraising and prioritise what needs particular attention.
- Proven track record of delivering income across one or more of following income streams:
- Individual Giving: postal appeals, online appeals; emergency appeals; matched giving campaigns.
- Major Donor Fundraising: soliciting and stewarding donations from HNWIs; prospects research; Major Donor recruitment.
- Trusts and Foundations: soliciting and stewarding major grant
- Digital fluency with a deep understanding of how this relates to fundraising.
- Line management of other fundraisers, especially with agile working and diverse skill sets.
- Experience of overseeing the development of team members.
- Excellent knowledge of proper practice in fundraising data and compliance, especially with reference to The Code of Fundraising Practice and GDPR principles.

About the Role

Barts Charity is seeking a new Senior Major Gifts Manager and Prospectus is excited to lead the search. At Barts Charity, their vision is to provide life-changing improvements to health for the people of East London. Thanks to the passion and dedication of the Barts Charity team, they are committed to investing around £150 million in new projects over the next five years in key areas of research and healthcare.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in raising funds for two major capital projects – a Clinical Research Facility at The Royal London Hospital and a Breast Cancer Centre at St Bartholomew’s Hospital. The Senior Major Gifts Manager will develop and manage a portfolio of prospects, senior volunteers, and clinicians with a view to securing six-and-seven donations whilst also providing excellent stewardship for existing partnerships.
The Manager will be a proven major gift fundraiser with a talent for identifying new funders, building a solid pipeline, and unlocking potential opportunities. A proven track record of securing significant asks is imperative along with the ability to present complex information in an interesting and accessible way. Knowledge of the health sector / medical landscape would be advantageous, passion for improving healthcare and the work of the hospitals, clinicians and researchers whom the Charity supports a must.

As Senior Fundraiser, you will be responsible for securing significant grants from a broad range of trusts, foundations and grant-making bodies. You will develop and implement the fundraising strategy to maximise trust and grant giving income and create a sustainable and diverse fundraising portfolio, with funding streams including major donors, trusts, foundations and other grant making bodies. You will also maintain and develops existing relationships, whilst proactively identifying and approaching new funding partners in the UK, US and internationally.

About the role
This is an exciting time to join our dynamic Community Fundraising Team who are dedicated to providing support and advice to thousands of individuals, groups, local businesses to fundraise and take part in events. As a Community Fundraiser, with expert relationship building skills, you’ll be responsible for engaging with current and potential new supporters within your designated area to generate leads to raise funds for the charity.
This position is home based and you will be required to travel across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.
What you’ll do:
