Role Summary:

The Teacher Development Trust are seeking an energetic, curious and highly organised Marketing & Recruitment Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will have a genuine passion for education and the important work of teachers and schools. They will  play a pivotal role in increasing our reach and impact by promoting our offers to schools, trusts and other education sector organisations, generating leads and supporting school engagement by executing effective marketing strategies.

Location: TDT’s offices are based in Finsbury Park. This role is mainly home-working, however applicants will need to be a commutable distance to the London office to take part in team days or other face to face meetings as required.

Particular to the Marketing and Recruitment Officer, guided by  by the School Engagement Manager:

• To contribute to the creation of strategic marketing plans to promote Teacher Development Trust's services.  Helping to shape activity to provide a better understanding of the efficacy and reach of our products and services and ensuring that information and data are shared effectively across the organisation.

• To utilise various marketing channels including digital platforms, social media, website and traditional marketing methods including email and newsletters, to reach target audiences.  You will collaborate with the team to create and distribute compelling content, promotional materials and campaigns.

• To stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities and emerging opportunities and share this information as appropriate across the organisation to put TDT in the best position to respond in the advancement of our charitable aims and objectives.

• To support the planning and organisation of events such as workshops, webinars and conferences to showcase Teacher Development Trust's offerings and coordinate TDT presence at external events.  This will include representing the organisation at events to network and promote our services.

• To work closely with the internal teams, including the content development and participant experience teams, to ensure seamless service delivery, satisfaction, retention and brand loyalty.  You will also collaborate with external partners and stakeholders to explore potential synergies and business opportunities.

• To support the wider interaction between the organisation and the sector, in particular supporting carefully planned and considered marketing and communications activity as well as responding to emerging news stories and other agendas.  Where appropriate this may include working with journalists and other key sector influencers.

Experience, qualities and skills:

• Proven experience in marketing roles either within the education sector or elsewhere.

• Knowledge of the current educational landscape, including an understanding of professional development or a genuine interest in developing that knowledge.

• An active interest in continuously developing both generalist and technical marketing expertise.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present information clearly, striking the correct tone with a range of internal and external audiences.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Excellent problem solving skills and the initiative to continuously improve.

• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.

• Familiarity with digital marketing tools and platforms (Salesforce, Mailchimp, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Asana, Divi, Wordpress)  would be an advantage but not essential - the appetite to learn is essential.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

• A strong commitment to education, the non-profit sector and improving educational outcomes for children and young people.

Digital Marketing and Content Lead

About the role:

As our Digital Marketing and Content Lead, you will conceive and deliver a best-in-class digital strategy that uses our digital estate and communications to deliver against our strategic organisational objectives of ending the institutionalised care of children. You will use your technical expertise in digital marketing and communications and a data-driven approach to increase digital engagement across social media, website, and email. You’ll drive up the quality of our content and user experience through continuous test, review and optimisation.

About you:

We are looking for someone who is digital all-rounder, with a proven track record of creating and implementing effective digital platform strategies and have an innovative approach to digital marketing.

About Hope and Homes for Children:

Job Purpose

The Communications Manager will play a leading role in driving Career Ready’s communications activity, working alongside the Head of Communications and colleagues across the charity.

Role Responsibilities

Stakeholder communications

· Work with the Head of Communications and other internal stakeholders to author and distribute stakeholder communications via relevant channels to support partnership and programme delivery.

Content and resource production

· Develop and implement a social media content strategy, including day-to-day channel management. 

· Support with the writing, editing, and collation of written content, including case studies, blog content, and news articles.

· Update and produce key publications for our programme delivery, including liaising with colleagues and suppliers to oversee design, content, and production in line with our brand guidelines.

· Work independently and with the Head of Communications and external providers on the creation of creative media content, including photoshoots, graphics, and videos.  

Brand assurance

· Provide advice and guidance to colleagues to ensure all communications are in line with our brand guidelines and tone of voice.

· Help to develop and implement brand assets for use by all colleagues.  

Wider responsibilities

· The post holder will have additional responsibilities and projects set by the Head of Communications, including but not limited to website maintenance, event support, and supporting press and media engagement.

Person Specification

Essential skills and experience:

· Demonstrable experience of working in an internal, fast-paced communications-based role

· Strong writing, editing, and visual skills.

Job Description

Purpose of the role

Our PR & Media Manager is crucial to our plans to scale up our media coverage as we enter the final years of our campaign to end bear bile farming in Vietnam. As part of the Comms team, you will work closely with colleagues in our Programmes and Fundraising teams to amplify their work through public relations, celebrity support and media activity. Your key areas of responsibility will include press office management, preparing PR & Media plans for each of our key markets, preparing pitches, media releases and content for media outreach and building a library of case studies to showcase our work. Your other key area of responsibility is supporting our highly successful celebrity liaison to raise Animals Asia’s profile through earned, owned and shared digital platforms, print and broadcast media. You will possess the knowledge, skills, and creativity to help us raise awareness of Animals Asia and what we stand for, helping us grow our supporter base and meet our brand goals. You will be managed and supported by our Global Head of PR and Media.

Key duties:

1. Responding to media enquiries, drafting media releases, undertaking proactive pitch development, outreach to journalists, maintaining our database of media contacts and other general press office management.
2. Supporting our Founder and our Global Head of PR and Media to develop and grow relationships with influencers and high-profile supporters, and deliver campaigns involving celebrities and influencers.
3. Preparing, publishing, moderating and reporting on social media content for PR and media purposes.
4. Close working with international colleagues and managing our PR agencies globally to deliver PR campaigns in our key markets and professional media management at international events.
5. Supporting and promoting global campaigns, appeals and events by developing press releases, media packs, briefings and other PR materials.
6. Developing and maintaining a case study, asset and fact file library.
7. Working with Meltwater and Muck Rack media monitoring systems to identify media opportunities and compile PR & Media performance reports.
8. Internal liaison with colleagues throughout Animals Asia to develop content and pitches for earned and owned media opportunities.
9. Drafting pitches and articles in close collaboration with our internal subject matter experts to develop our reputation and thought leadership in animal welfare.
10. Producing media-ready content, including video and written content.
11. Maintaining the news section of our website and media packs.

Person Specification

• Minimum of three years’ experience of working in a busy press office or PR agency, including drafting press releases and responding to media enquiries.
• Strong news sense, knowledge and interest in the environment, biodiversity and animal area is a plus.
• Experience of working with celebrities, their managers and agents.
• Good understanding of reputation management and associated risks.
• Experience in using media monitoring software to track media engagement, journalists and coverage.
• Extensive experience of writing and publishing to social media.
• Competent video editing skills.
• Excellent written English.
• Demonstrable experience of prioritising and delivering against multiple deadlines in a time pressured environment.
• Confident in building relationships with colleagues and stakeholders and being a credible representative for the charity and the cause.

Conditions and Benefits

Place of work: Home-based (Global).

Working Hours:           Full-time.  Standard hours are 37.5 hours per week from 9am to 5pm.  You will be required to work such additional hours as are necessary to fulfil your role which may include evenings and weekends.  You will be expected to manage your hours, responsibilities and workload accordingly.

Who are Women’s Aid?   

Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. We are a federation of over 170 organisations which provide just under 300 local lifesaving services to women and children across England. For almost 50 years we have campaigned on behalf of our members and survivors to shape policy and practice, and to raise awareness of domestic abuse.    

Purpose of the Senior Communications Officer role:   

As Senior Communications Officer, the successful candidate will be a creative, agile and impactful professional, who will play a pivotal role in shaping Women’s Aid’s communications campaigns, working closely with the Communications Manager and the Head of Media, Brand and Relationships. The successful candidate will take the lead on generating creative, engaging content and ideas for Women’s Aid communications – including major campaign moments and brand awareness. Working across all external channels, including traditional media and social media, you will curate compelling stories that build our profile and target key audiences in our mission to keep women and children safe from domestic abuse. You’ll be joining us at an exciting time, as we mark our 50th Birthday with some powerful campaigns and engagement. 

Key duties and responsibilities of the Senior Communications Officer: 

• To be the key communications officer representing the communications team, developing the key messaging of external campaigns, brand-building and communications for the organisation and developing public awareness of these.

• To lead on planning, drafting and implementing a communications plan for Women’s Aid key communications campaigns such as International Women’s Day, 16 Days, as well as wider organisational projects, incorporating press and social media and providing media support as required. 

• To develop relevant media and social media contacts, as well as contacts in the sector, to maximise the reach and coverage of key communications campaigns as well as wider organisational projects. 

• To work with colleagues to ensure the campaigns take an intersectional approach and centres the most marginalised voices. 

• To work with a diverse range of survivor case studies and media spokespeople, including Women’s Aid member organisations, and to ensure they are treated in an appropriate and safe manner.

• To help identify both proactive and reactive media opportunities. 

• To write blogs, news articles and promotional copy for Women’s Aid.

• To proof and typeset publications as required.

• To be part of the communications team out-of-hours on call rota for media calls.

What we are looking for in our Senior Communications Officer: 

• At least two years experience working in communications/journalism/publications or similar. 

• Experience of liaising with a variety of individuals and organisations of all seniorities, internally and externally. 

• Experience of maintaining systems for information storage and retrieval.

• Experience of online communications/websites/social media, including Content Management Systems. 

• Experience delivering public-facing campaigns with a range of stakeholders. 

• Experience in getting effective PR results. 

• Ability to produce high quality written material, for copy writing, copy editing and publicity materials, posters and press releases.
