Volunteer Social Media Community Manager Internship
Role Title: Volunteer Social Media Community Manager Intern
Duration: 3 months minimum
Job Type: Part Time (15 hours)
Modality: Hybrid (mostly remote, but travel to stores for content creation and some in-person meetings required – fully covered). Our shops are located in Eastbourne, Hailsham and Lewes.

Role Description
- As a Volunteer Social Media Community Manager Intern, you will work under the direction of the Retail Operations Manager.
- The role is advertised for 15 hours per week. It can either be split over 2 full days of 7.5 hours or 4 half days (3x 4 hours shifts and 1x 3 hours shift to make up 15 hours).
- You will support senior management with the day-to-day running of all social media accounts with content creation, new posts, monitoring comments/messages and taking part in marketing campaigns rollouts.
- The role is flexible enough for you to bring in new ideas or suggestions and shape the social media direction of the charity.
Tasks
- Manage comments across all social media accounts (Facebook x2, Instagram x2).
- Monitor and reply to direct messages across all social media accounts (Facebook x2, Instagram x2). A sense of customer service is needed for this aspect of the role, as it will necessitate liaising with shops to answer customers’ queries.
- Travel to the different stores for social media content creation (travel fully covered within reason).
- Upload stories & new posts several times a week.
- Prepare IG and Facebook posts in drafts for the senior management team to upload while you are away.
- Support the senior management team with big marketing campaign rollouts.
- Take part in Marketing meetings with senior management.
Requirements
- Experience with social media, especially Facebook and Instagram
- Confident using Canva
- Very good written and verbal communication skills
- Very good spelling
- Social media trends awareness
- Interest or experience in the charity sector
- Personal smartphone and laptop required
- Customer service experience is a welcomed bonus!

Furniture Now! is an East Sussex chain of charity furniture stores, part of the Now! charity group Ltd. We aim to end local poverty and fight for the environment. We act at different levels by making furniture accessible to those most in need through our special two tier discount, working in partnership with social funds to furnish refugees’ homes and issue grants to environmentally and socially focused local actions.
We recently started providing free sanitary products in all 3 of our stores in a bid to end Period Poverty. This is an exciting time to join our charity as we are also about to open a Community Shed in our Hailsham store to provide the local community with a third space, where people can meet, hang out and upcycle furniture.

Background to the RJ4All Internships
RJ4All was originally set up by volunteers, and it would not exist without their involvement and continued support. Therefore, RJ4All recognises their significant contribution. The vast majority of our interns are young people most of whom are faced with challenges let those be social, financial, migration or refugee status etc.
The RJ4All internships are not paid, but offered on a volunteering basis. This is because we believe that volunteering is an important way to make a positive contribution to our communities and is of particular benefit to young people who are often forgotten or marginalised. Nevertheless, volunteering with RJ4All does not mean standing outside of tube stations wearing bunny suits to raise funds! It involves high quality project activity, engaging with social project and policy issues, and making a real difference where it matters. It also means doing youth-led work, organising events and running user-led training workshops. All out of pocket expenses are paid (see Volunteer Policy for more detail).

The role
This is a supporting role working under the line management of the Community Centre Manager. It is an office-based position at our RJ4All Community Centre in Rotherhithe working across projects and RJ4All services. The post holder will support the organisation to ensure the effective administration of the RJ4All Centre and the delivery of RJ4All programmes through a combination of excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
Initiative and innovation are attributes that are highly valued at RJ4All. Furthermore, the post holder will be involved in delivering project-related tasks as well as promoting projects, participate and create workshops.
Volunteering hours under this role are between 9:30am-5:30pm and the placements are usually offered on a minimum of a 3-month engagement.
Role description
We want to offer a rounded experience to all our interns and therefore they are engaged in five different areas of work:

Community Project Delivery on one or multiple of our community centre projects (incl. Youth Clubs, Food Bank, Community Fridge, Charity Shop, Sports classes for young people/for people with disabilities, Digital Inclusion workshops), art workshops, Mediation, wellbeing support, etc.).

Research and policy support on our Restorative Justice postcode project.

Administrative work such as managing our organisation email account or project monitoring and evaluation

Social media such as leading on our Facebook page

Writing a blog for our members and our FRED campaign.
Other tasks may include:

Introduction
Africa Health Organisation (AHO) is in desperate need of Grant Writers. In AHO, Grant Writers are crucial because they bring financial resources to the organization. Most of our money comes from applying for grants and tenders. Our grants come from USAID, UKAID, the European Commission, DANIDA, SIDA, NORAD, grant-making trusts and foundations, the lottery fund, etc. You will be under the supervision of Simbarashe Chifeya, our Grants Director, and AHO Zimbabwe Country Director who is based in Harare, Zimbabwe. Your first day will begin with training on grant writing. The course will be delivered online via Zoom or Teams. Our internships are virtual and can be done from anywhere in the world.

Role Overview
We are looking for Grant Writers from across the world to help us apply for funding from major donors and development aid ogencies. The Grant Writer supports the Director for developing and writing grant proposals to trusts, foundations and other grant-making organisations such as Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, USAID, UKAID, EU Funding, NORAD, SIDA, DFID tenders, etc, and persuasively communicates AHO's mission and programmes to potential funders. In collaboration with the Director, the Volunteer administers the organisation’s grant management activities, including grant proposal writing, editing and compilation, submissions and follow up and prospect research. This position helps to write tenders based on instruction and detailed information from the Director, referring back for editing and final approval, leading to increased success in winning contracts and funding. Purpose of Role
To identify grant and bid opportunities, managing the grant development and proposal process and to produce successful tender proposals - as well as other fundraising applications when required based on good research and excellent communication.
Duties and Responsibilities
Grant writing
- Developing and writing grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organisations persuasively communicating the organisation’s mission and programmes to potential funders;
- Assembling and submitting grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentations;
- Track and create a calendar of grant opportunities - including deadline dates, required materials,

Tender & Bid writing
- Writing tenders based on instruction and detailed information from the Director referring back for editing and final approval, leading to increased success in winning contracts
- Maintaining an awareness of contracts due for tender and taking responsibility for acquiring pre-qualification questionnaires and tender documentation
- Collating the input of disparate contributions to create a coherent and well-structured final tender and ensuring the timely submission of tenders and other proposals
Skills Required
- Qualification in any area that results in superb writing skills, including grammar, clarity and style
- Excellent writing, analytical, and research skills are essential. Candidates must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and highly-organised, and have experience using online databases and other sources to locate biographical, financial, and philanthropic information.
