We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Area Branch Development Manager to join our field operations team. You will join us working 35 hours per week (including some occasional evenings and weekends to support out volunteers) on a permanent basis. In return you will receive a competitive salary of up to £41,363 per annum, plus car allowance and excellent benefits.

The role will be home-based and the successful candidate will need to based in the lower quadrant of the North West region (the area below Preston and East Lancashire would be advantageous), due to current developments in the Manchester and surrounding area, with a flexible work structure to meet the needs of branches in the area.

Since 1927, Cats Protection has helped thousands of cats each year, across the UK. As a community of volunteers, employees, supporters and partners, we’ve improved the lives of millions of cats and transformed the way millions of people see and care for cats.

Our branch network is made up of groups of volunteers, led by a Branch Team Leader and overseen by a branch committee. Usually volunteering from their own homes, our branch volunteers foster cats until they are ready to re-home, raise funds to directly help the cats in their care, spread vital cat welfare messages across to members of the public, carry out trap-neuter-return activity, and much more!

Responsibilities of our Area Branch Development Manager:

As an Area Branch Development Manager you will be accountable for the development, growth and local governance of branches within a designated area. Providing a solution-driven approach with the aim of helping more cats through the effective engagement of local volunteers. You will develop and deliver an area plan that captures the importance of volunteer engagement, recruitment, support, enabling and succession planning to ultimately achieve branch growth and sustainability. You will work collaboratively with other CP regional teams where appropriate, identifying where there are opportunities to achieve more by working together.

About the role

Reporting to our Director of Policy and Communications, the Senior Policy Manager will:

• Identify key areas of policy focus where the BES is uniquely able to add value to national conversations around biodiversity and climate.
• Direct the work of Policy Officers to deliver the BES policy strategic aims and objectives, and work collaboratively with the Policy Committee.
• Help identify and convene key stakeholders from the ecological community, including academics, eNGOs, policy makers, funders, and landowners and managers, to discuss, debate and coalesce around recommendations.
• Oversee our policy reports at both a national and UK level, working with authors and contributors to deliver publications that move a debate on and are resonant to their audiences.
• Organise events for ecological and policy audiences, independently and in partnership with other organisations, to foster knowledge exchange and collaboration.
• Track legislation and policies at the devolved, national and international levels and identify opportunities for BES input and influence.

The Moving Minds Alliance (MMA) is an advocacy impact network focused on Early Childhood Development in Emergencies (ECDiE). It comprises a (growing) network of 38 organizations organizations working together to increase the quantity and quality of funding, policy prioritization, and leadership needed to effectively support young children and caregivers affected by crisis and displacement. MMA’s goal is for all children and caregivers to have access to the power and resources necessary to meet their self-determined needs in an environment of dignity, equity and care, especially in situations of national and international displacement.

MMA does not provide funding for implementation of early childhood programs. As a network, its activities are led by members collaborating in working groups responsible for operationalizing specific areas of work, with support from the Core Team and some external consultants. Operational costs and activities are financed by a sub-group of philanthropic foundations, which are part of the overall MMA membership, through a combination of annual member fees and additional donations and grants. A Steering Committee provides overall strategic direction. MMA is hosted by the International Rescue Committee (IRC-UK).

Our Vision: Rebuilding resilience of the youngest refugees

Forced displacement worldwide is at a record high. Young children and caregivers are disproportionately represented among those fleeing from emergencies and crisis-affected contexts. More than 43 million children have been displaced by conflict. One in four children around the world lives in contexts affected by conflict or disaster. Most children born in displacement will go on to spend their entire childhoods away from home.

Children’s experiences during their formative early years shape the architecture of the brain. This creates the foundation for future development, learning and physical and mental health. Prolonged exposure to violence and toxic stress can have life-long negative effects on children’s development. It can lead to higher levels of depression, anxiety, and in some cases post-traumatic stress disorder. Evidence indicates that quality ECDiE services that support parents, caregivers, and families to provide nurturing care during crisis can mitigate the negative effects of trauma and stress on young children and promote resilience and well-being for a lifetime.

Whilst the international community has made significant efforts to ensure children have access to basic healthcare and nutrition, more must be done to ensure that caregivers and young children can access quality ECDiE services. These services are severely lacking in crisis situations across the globe, as well as in communities hosting refugees and asylum-seekers.

The Purpose of the Role

High quality internal and external communications are the lifeblood of an effective network! The Network Communications Manager is a new and critical appointment to strengthen the work of the MMA.

The post-holder will support MMA’s ambition to become the thought leader on Early Childhood Development in Emergencies. They will position MMA as the ‘go-to’ agency for latest global, regional and local thinking, evidence and advocacy content on ECDiE. They will drive MMA’s external advocacy communications, coordinating with members as necessary to achieve our agreed objectives, and build external engagement with relevant media outlets and platforms

Responsibilities:

The post-holder will:

1. Develop and implement a Communications and Brand Strategy to build and strengthen MMA brand, image, social media and content curation in line with MMA values.

● Increase the effectiveness and dynamism of MMA’s external communications using a variety of different media and channels/

● Manage MMA social media and web platforms, ensuring up to date and relevant content, working with consultants to upgrade them where necessary.

● Ensure that MMA communications are informed through engagement with local ECDiE partners and leverage the communications expertise of our member organisations. 

2. Build MMA’s internal network communications to strengthen engagement, enhance convening and maximise collective impact.

● Ensure ongoing review and refinement of processes and platforms to optimally facilitate communication, knowledge sharing, and alignment across the MMA Working Groups.

● Develop and maintain timely and relevant information and communications flows to members through all formats and platforms.

● Build and maintain MMA’s internal (digital) communications channels and platforms - including our social media and web platforms.

● Work with the Research, Learning and Evaluation Manager to curate, build and share our digital library of resources information and knowledge across the Alliance membership.

● Oversee the design and publication of specialist products such as fact sheets on early childhood development, in collaboration with colleagues, members, technical experts and consultants.  

● Develop and implement targeted strategies to ensure that research, learning and evaluation outputs are proactively disseminated and reach the right audiences.

3. Work closely with the Senior Engagement Manager to develop and strengthen communications for advocacy, in line with the MMA Advocacy Strategy.

● Design & lead the communications components of MMA advocacy campaigns, including social media campaigns

● Develop MMA’s communications and advocacy in response to crises, working with the membership to develop core MMA messaging and advocacy on sensitive issues, including conflict, displacement and other crises.

● Amplify the voices of displaced children and caregivers in external outreach and communications.

4. As part of a small team, the post-holder will also share the MMA team’s collective responsibility to deliver an effective and impactful secretariat function. 

Key Working Relationships

The Communications Manager will report to the Director. They will be a vital member of the core team and will be expected to support day-to-day activities.

The post holder will work closely with the MMA Senior Engagement Manager to ensure that advocacy and communications objectives are aligned. They will work closely with the Knowledge Management and Learning Lead (also a new position) and the MMA Research Forum.

The post-holder will work collaboratively with MMA member representatives to ensure a smooth and effective flow of information and communication across the network. They will collaborate actively with MMA working groups and committees, such as the Steering and Strategy Committees. They will coordinate with communications and advocacy leads from the different organisations across the membership and with our partners.

The post-holder will also identify, engage and work with local partners and stakeholders directly involved in implementing ECDiE in diverse contexts and settings.

They will collaborate with IRC team members where required. From time to time, they may oversee consultants.

Role and Responsibilities

New Position: Due to the increase in REB memberships and activities, a new full-time events role is being created to support the executive team.

Key Tasks – support the MD in creating and delivering a member engagement and events programme

1. Conception and collaboration of member events

2. Promoting events to members, working alongside REB’s external PR/Communications agency

The Purpose of the Role

The Knowledge Management and Learning Lead is a critical new appointment. The post-holder will support MMA’s ambition to become the thought leader and ‘go-to’ agency for the latest global, regional and local thinking, evidence and advocacy content on ECDiE. They will strengthen MMA’s capacity for disseminating learning and evidence for impactful advocacy, promoting uptake of evidence that emerges from research, linking researchers with policy makers and practitioners who can use it, including the development of learning products and policy statements.

The post-holder will understand that high quality research, information and learning exchange is the lifeblood of an effective network. They will support MMA to systematically strengthen learning and knowledge exchange. They will ensure that the views and perspectives of affected children, caregivers and communities are centred. They will support the Research Forum on Young Children in Emergencies, which generates research that can be used to influence policymakers and practitioners to provide more effective support to enable young, displaced children and their families to thrive.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement MMA’s MERLA framework and Strategy with the support of technical experts from across the MMA network:

a. Define MMA’s learning agenda and gather data and evidence on its core research questions.

b. Collect, curate and aggregate learning across MMA member initiatives and generate evidence on the outcomes / impact of MMA activities.

c. Harvest, distil and (internally and externally) disseminate evidence and learning on ECDiE from its members.

d. Create platforms and processes to support and enhance internal learning, knowledge sharing, and alignment across the MMA membership and Working Groups.

e. Develop mechanisms to support the MMA’s ongoing performance improvement. This includes ensuring that appropriate digital platforms are in place for data collection and working with the MMA Director to make sure that our learning approach is supported through effective use of data.

f. Work with the Communications Manager to curate, build and share our digital library of resources, information and knowledge across the Alliance membership.

g. Identify, engage and support local partners to harvest emergent evidence from community-based innovations in ECDiE. Present this evidence in case studies and other learning products which can be used to increase the effectiveness of advocacy.

h. Increase outreach to and collaboration with regional and global organizations working on issues related to young children in emergencies through participation in events and meetings.   

2. Oversee the annual production of key learning products. This will include reports which summarise the extent to which national humanitarian and climate response plans identify and prioritise young children and caregivers.

3. Provide day to day co-ordination and support to the Moving Minds Alliance Research Forum. This will include:

a. Organizing and producing webinars, to shed light on ongoing research efforts taking place worldwide, specifically focused on young children and families in emergency contexts.

b. Creating monthly research roundups to compile the most recent, relevant, and impactful research findings in ECDiE.

c. Promoting the “Meet the Fellows” series on the MMA’s social media platforms (LinkedIn & Twitter), in collaboration with the Communications Manager.

d. Expanding participation by members and Research Fellows at conferences and events.

As part of a small team, the post-holder will also share the MMA team’s collective responsibility to deliver an effective and impactful secretariat function. 

Key Working Relationships

The Knowledge Management & Learning Lead will work independently, reporting to the MMA Director. They will be a senior member of the core team and will be expected to support day-to-day activities. The post-holder will work collaboratively with MMA member representatives. They will work alongside MMA working groups and committees, such as the Steering and Strategy Committees

They will work closely with the Arab Resource Collective (ARC – the host organization of ANECD) in Lebanon and BRAC IED in Bangladesh, two of MMA’s key members which will be actively involved in the management of The Research Forum.

The role will involve coordinating with monitoring and evaluation and/or programmatic staff from the different organisations across the membership and with our partners.

They will identify, engage, and work with local partners directly involved in implementing ECDiE in diverse contexts and settings.

In this role you will be involved in supporting the effective facilitation of the Baby Friendly programme and helping to develop and support new and existing initiatives. Parkinson’s UK – Head of Major Gifts
Location: London Victoria, SW1V, hybrid working (minimum of two days per week in person working). Occasional travel will also be required.

Parkinson’s UK is seeking an exceptional and experienced, innovative leader to shape their high value strategy to deliver significant growth in income and the charity’s established high value fundraising.

Parkinson's UK is there for everyone affected by Parkinson's. By funding the right research into the most promising treatments, they are moving closer to a cure every day and are the largest European charitable funder of Parkinson's research.

This role will support and inspire an ambitious and high performing team to build propositions, proposals and pipelines in order to unlock opportunities to engage the charity’s supporters and untap networks across the charity, securing vital funds to underpin their strategic programmes and ambitions for people with Parkinson’s. The post-holder will inspire supporters to give their biggest donation and ensure that the organisation is giving its supporters the best experience possible, delivering an annual income target of £6m+. The role will also play a pivotal part in driving a new multi-year, multi-million pound charity appeal.

Maximising the value and contribution of supporters is fundamental to Parkinson’s UK; building networks, understanding what motivates their supporters, and aligning programmes to their charitable interests is key to the charity’s growth plans for Major Gifts. This role will be critical to leading the philanthropy, trust and statutory, special events and prospect research and insights teams (approximately 18 people) and working with colleagues and leaders across the charity to identify prospects and opportunities to give at a transformational level. The post will also be an active member of the Fundraising Leadership Team.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in major gifts fundraising and a proven track record of securing large gifts. They will also have experience of managing a large annual income target and driving continued growth and ensuring targets are met. They will have the ability to lead, motivate and inspire multiple teams to coordinate projects and exceed fundraising targets. Strong presentation skills and budgetary skills will be combined with the ability to build positive and high-value relationships across a range of sectors, individuals, organisations and committees. Finally, they will be solutions focused with the ability to work well under pressure.

For more than 30 years, War Child has been driven by a single goal – ensuring a safe future for every child affected by war. We aim to reach children as quickly as possible when conflict breaks out and stay long after the cameras have gone to support them through their recovery. Join us as our Director of Finance and IT at War Child UK, a pivotal role within our Leadership Group reporting directly to Helen Pattinson, CEO. Your role is to lead our finance and IT, but as a member of our leadership group to take joint responsibility with other Directors for leading the organisation.

As Finance and IT Director, you'll lead the optimisation of our finance and IT systems to streamline recording and reporting of financial transactions. Your analytical skills will be essential as you explore cost and income centres, supplying vital data necessary to significantly enhance our fundraising efforts.

Beyond day-to-day operations, you'll play a strategic role in long-term financial planning, fostering collaboration across the War Child Alliance. Together with fellow leaders, you'll steward the wider organisation, ensuring War Child UK is ready for success and equipped with ambitious financial investment frameworks.

Success in this role also entails ensuring our IT systems maintain the highest standards of excellence, delivering accurate and timely financial performance insights. You'll contribute to a vision where War Child UK achieves extraordinary results within a financially sound Alliance, empowering members to maximise their impact while being accountable for every penny raised.

You will be a qualified accountant with exceptional strategic and operational experience. You do not necessarily need to have prior international development experience, although you will need to demonstrate that you can build effective working relationships with overseas counterparts. World Cancer Research Fund International (WCRFI) leads and unifies a network of cancer prevention charities based in Europe and the Americas. Our shared vision is a world where no one develops a preventable cancer.

WCRFI is responsible for the Global Cancer Update Programme (CUP Global) which is our global cancer prevention and survival programme focussing on the links between diet, nutrition, physical activity and cancer. Forming the cornerstone of all our work, the project is the only authoritative scientific resource of its kind in the world.

We are seeking a Head of Research Interpretation who will be responsible for managing the delivery of CUP Global. You will chair the CUP Global Secretariat and also provide support to the Assistant Director of Research and Policy and the Director of Research, Policy and Innovation in the oversight and strategic direction of the programme of work. You will also contribute to other projects such as ensuring that the WCRF network has the latest global cancer statistics, including new estimates of the preventability of cancer. 

You will be educated to PhD level, with ideally at least 2 years postdoctoral experience in a research environment, in a relevant area (e.g. nutrition, cancer, epidemiology, public health). You will have a good understanding of public health and epidemiology, nutrition and/or cancer and have experience of conducting and/or interpreting systematic reviews. You will have strong people management skills, with direct line management experience.

Responsibilities include:

Leadership, Strategy and Governance

• Be an active member of the Made in Hackney Senior Leadership Team, working together to galvanise the organisation behind the strategic plan

• Act as MIH’s Lead for:
  Safeguarding - conducting regular reviews of safeguarding policy,  procedures and regular training for staff, trustees and volunteers and completing; 
  Data Protection - ensuring Data Protection Policy review and organisation-wide compliance and responding to any data incidents or breaches;
  Training - overseeing staff/volunteer/trustee training and lead on implementing staff wellbeing initiatives eg. socials, team building days etc;

• Oversee monthly staff salary payment and coordinate with external payroll provider; 

• Responsible for regular organisation-wide policy, procedure and risk assessment reviews

• Oversee any organisational structure reviews and ensure a system is in place for staff to receive regular and motivational feedback, and feel supported and able to perform their role;

Salesforce Admin
To be the main point of contact for core users' technical support and training needs, and to develop the Salesforce platform to improve organisational efficiency, relationship management and income generation. Intensive training will be provided to support this role.

• Act as the system administrator and manage admin functions including assigning new users, creating reports, dashboards, surveys, application forms etc;

• Onboard and train new users, and grow the level of expertise among the core team;

• Implement custom features when new work streams/programmes are set up and as organisational needs grow;

• Oversee support partnerships with external technical support and training providers.

• Support the Head of Fundraising & Communications and Community Programmes Manager with the creation of reports and dashboards in salesforce to present programme outcomes for funder and trustee reports and the MIH Annual Report;

• App Integration – use apps such as Mailchimp and 123 Form Builder (survey software) and integrate with Salesforce

Venue Management 
MIH has a part-time Venue Manager who is responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of the ‘Liberty Hall’ kitchen venue. The Head of Operations  will oversee them and support key areas of venue management in the following ways:

• Manage relationship with venue partner ‘Clapton Commons’ to ensure key services of venue are running smoothly and represent MIH in oversight committee meetings; 

• Ensure venue and office equipment is safe to use and repaired/replaced/PAT tested on time;

• Ensure the venue meets the latest Health & Safety requirements, Fire Safety Standards and is fully accessible;

• Support acquisition of new kitchen equipment when required, such as ovens, hobs etc either from a donated source or purchased from a supplier;

Finance

• Organise quarterly budget meetings between the core delivery team and Finance Manager to review budget and expenditure; 

• Ensure the finance team understands the requirements and deadlines of board meetings and provide reminders to them for preparing the required financial reporting.

Line Management

• Line management responsibility for 3 direct reports, creating a supportive environment for growth and development
