This new Legacies Manager role is an exciting opportunity to deliver Speech and Language UK's first proactive legacy programme, which is a key part of their new strategy.
For 1.9 million children in the UK, learning to talk and understand words feels like an impossible hurdle. Speech and Language UK helps children with communication disabilities and provides a unique combination of specialist therapy, teaching and care for children, information for families, and training for teachers and other professionals.
To deliver their new strategy, the charity have created several exciting new roles, all aimed at embedding a relationship fundraising approach to engaging and inspiring institutional, high net worth and long-term supporters.
As Legacies Manager, you will develop, manage and grow the organisation’s legacies portfolio, including securing legacy pledges and stewarding donors who have chosen to leave a legacy gift.
There is an option to work remotely (UK-based) or hybrid (2dpw in Islington office) for this 21 hours a week, part-time role – please discuss options and FTE implications with Joe.
As Legacies Manager, you will:
- Work alongside the Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships to develop and implement Legacies operational plans to maximize income in line with agreed targets
- Lead and manage relationships with legacy supporters to achieve and exceed income targets
- Provide insight and learning so that the charity can optimize its initiatives both in lifetime-giving and legacy fundraising
- Build and maintain excellent relationships with a portfolio of actual and potential legacy supporters
Ideal skills and experience:
- Proven track record in legacy giving

Digital Membership Manager

We are looking for a Digital Membership Manager to be responsible for building membership for our newly created Institute of Early Years Education due to be officially launched in August 2024. This is a pivotal role in an exciting new venture, and a career-making opportunity.
Position: Digital Membership Manager
Location: Homebased (hybrid working in Huddersfield also available)
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Salary: £35,000-£37,000 per annum

The Role
As Digital Membership Manager, you will coordinate and drive membership growth for the Institute of Early Years Education (IoEYE) by leading recruitment and retention activities and working with the core team to reach new audiences and continuously attract new members. You will increase the diversity of overall membership in terms of job roles within the early years sector.
In due time, the Digital Membership Manager will also lead on the Institute’s partnership strategy and ensure contracts with corporate partners, commercial activity and delivery of projects protect the IoEYE, meet our legal obligations and maximise financial and non-financial return.
Key responsibilities include:
- Driving uptake of membership numbers
- Achieving annual income generation targets through presenting a broad range of multichannel marketing opportunities to commercial suppliers
- Supporting the Interim Director of the Institute of Early Years Education to develop management information and analysis to track and monitor progress,
- Building relationships with external partners and stakeholders
- Planning and executing member communications
- Managing and overseeing the Institute’s online forum
- Tracking and analysing feedback and posts on other practitioner forums.
- Developing and implementing a strategy for competitor analysis.
- Leading on sourcing and engaging new corporate partners and advertisers

The Role
You will provide leadership and direction for a team of early year’s content writers and work collaboratively across teams to support the development and delivery of products and services.
Main duties include
- Support the Interim Director – Institute of Early Years Education with the development of a content strategy that meets the needs of its members
- Provide support to the early years content writer(s) in the development and delivery of products and services for the early years sector in the UK
- Lead and manage the early years content writer(s) to develop, review and deliver digital products and services
- Ensure the content of services is suitable for practitioners at all levels
- Audit existing resources for brand voice, relevance, and SEO optimisation
- Consult with members practitioners to pilot and test the proposed new products
- Evaluate and act on service delivery and impact on customer achievement
- Promote a consistent brand identity through content development
- Create and manage a short-term and long-term content publishing calendar
About You
You will be an experienced early years leader with significant knowledge of effective practice in all areas of EYFS for supporting all children including those with SEND.
You will have experience of:

The Fundraising Officer will also collaborate with other members of the team to develop a supporter database, produce compelling and tailored funding applications, and contribute to performance analysis and report for our Board of Trustees.

About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and versatile finance professional to play a leading strategic role in the continuing development of our North London schools.
The Regional Finance Director will provide the overall leadership and management for all aspects of finance to Ark Schools in the North London region. The role will be focussed on ensuring processes are embedded across all schools; supporting schools new to the network (or with new staff structures) with transition as well as leading, with regard to finance, on strategic projects within the schools.
Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:
· Experience in the implementation of financial processes, planning and reporting
· Extensive experience in successfully managing and motivating a team
· A highly organised and proactive approach to work
Key Responsibilities:
- To be a member of the Ark Central Finance Team, ensuring that the network financial strategies and processes are being carried out at all North London schools, including those planning to join the network
- To be responsible for all aspects of finance at the academies and developing the in-school finance teams to provide a high-level service to their principals and operations leads
- To assist with finance requirements for transitioning new schools to the network, including systems set-up, staff training and implementation of policies & procedures
- To be responsible directly to the Schools Finance Director for the strategic financial management in all schools in the region
- To control, monitor and evaluate the academies’ finances, ensuring compliance with financial requirements and value for money
- To be responsible for salary forecasts, preparing annual plans of the regions’ priorities in consultation with the Principals and Regional Director, and the annual budgets for approval by Ark Central and review by the Local Governing Bodies
- To be responsible for managing financial inspections by internal and external audit and other bodies and ensure action is taken on any recommendations made
- To ensure that effective credit controls are in place in respect of income, i.e. catering, lettings, etc.
- To work with the HR Business Partner to oversee all matters relating to payroll, including Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs queries, National Insurance, benefits in lieu of pay (travel loans etc.), Give as You Earn scheme, and to ensure that appropriate controls are in place and robust checks are made in relation to the monthly payroll however noting that the administration or payroll and pensions is outsourced and led by HR.
Key Requirements:
· Professional accountancy qualification, including significant post-qualifying experience
· A record of Continuing Professional Development activities
· Experience and/or knowledge of schools or education finance & administration would be desirable, but not essential
· Knowledge and experience of financial management systems and processes
· Experience of strategic financial planning and supporting decision-making
· Experience of preparing and presenting financial reports and presentations for various stakeholders
· Ability to ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times
· Ability to interpret complex legislation regulations
· Ability to prioritise and manage conflicting demands
· Strong organisational, project management and planning skills
