Job description

This is an opportunity to join an organisation focused on protecting the public through effective regulation and a well-established culture of continuous quality improvement. This new role will be an integral part of the Policy and Standards Team at HCPC, driving forward the EDI agenda for the organisation. Engaged in research, stakeholder engagement, and policy development, the Policy and Standards team supports the organisation in ensuring our registrants maintain high standards, and have the advice and support they need in doing so.

You will join us at an exciting time in this new post, as you lead the development of our first EDI strategy, maximise our work with stakeholders, and modernise our approach to EDI in all that we do.

Your role will be to lead and transform the HCPC’s work on equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) matters, ensuring that we are compliant with our statutory duties, reporting obligations, and pursue best practice as a regulator and employer.

You will have proven ability to provide specialist and expert EDI policy advice, guidance, challenge and support, and will work continually and effectively with internal and external stakeholders. You will be comfortable in not only adapting to change, but in driving forward change and bringing others along with you.

You will exhibit excellent communication skills, and act as an authoritative source of expert advice and guidance to colleagues on relevant legislation and best practice in relation to EDI.

You will also be able to research and write accessible, clear policy documents and other content for a range of audiences. You will also possess the skills required to lead the EDI policy portfolio, working collaboratively with colleagues across the organization, and are able to weigh up conflicting demands and make decisions independently. You will be willing to travel on an occasional basis throughout the UK and overseas, including overnight stays as required.
