CORE and Co Foundation

Who we are

The CORE & Co Foundation is a registered charity set up by CORE Education Trust in 2020 to develop creative partnership programmes for children and young people.  Much of the charity’s focus is aimed at working with vulnerable, at risk or under-served communities. The charity’s flagship programme is SAFE delivered on behalf of the DfE with local partners in Birmingham. SAFE is a school’s led programme which aims to prevent young people becoming vulnerable to violent crime. The charity has also supported the development of programmes such as the award-winning Echo Eternal.

Birmingham is one of ten local authority areas taking part in the DFE’s funded SAFE (Support Attend Fulfil Exceed) programme, with the SAFE Birmingham Taskforce bringing together multiple agencies to work together to reduce serious youth violence in the city. This provision is primarily for mainstream secondary schools.

SAFE Birmingham’s vision is to develop high quality 360 practice around children to increase and improve their engagement in education, raise aspirations, develop skills and create opportunities, whilst decreasing risks and creating whole system change in education and complementary sectors.
