About us
Who we are
Since it was established in 1982, Kingsgate Community Centre has been at the very heart of one of the most deprived wards in Kilburn to provide social, educational and welfare support to those most in need. The centre is open to all ages, cultures and backgrounds and works closely with many diverse local and voluntary organisations across the neighbourhood.
It sees over 1,000 visitors each month and offers nearly 40 free and paid services including IT training, fitness and dance classes, counselling, debt, legal and welfare advice, sewing classes, art classes and choir. Additionally, the Centre provides childcare through its pre-school up to age 5 years.
The Centre is embedded within the local community. Our staff know many of its users on a first-name basis - many have actually grown up with the Centre and become part of the KCA family forming close knit relationships, offering support and friendship.
KCA has built a reputation as a leading community centre that extends beyond the classes and services it offers, to real actions of helping its members. KCA’s reputation extends throughout Greater London where it sees regular visitors from across the city.
KCA has formed diverse alliances to support the wider community. We are closely partnered with: Somali Cultural Centre which is housed within the Centre, Kingsgate Garden Club, Friends of Kilburn Grange Park, Kingsgate Workshops, the Safer Neighbourhood Team (local police), the Labour Party, Tenant Associations and Housing Estate Associations, Camden and most recently, Violia - a leader in the Recycled Economy.
