About us

Who we are

Llangollen Railway Trust is a volunteer-led heritage charity dedicated to preserving and operating one of Wales’ most scenic and historic railways. Running along the beautiful Dee Valley, we bring history to life through immersive visitor experiences, enriched volunteering opportunities and skill build/educational programmes. Our mission is to protect this unique piece of living heritage while inspiring future generations through learning, community engagement, and a shared passion for railways.

Our culture and values

At Llangollen Railway Trust, we are proud to be a values-driven organisation rooted in heritage, community, and collaboration. Our culture is shaped by the passion of our volunteers and staff, who work together to preserve our railway’s legacy and share it with future generations.

·       Safe & Well: We always work safely, taking care of ourselves and others, and promoting physical and mental wellbeing across the railway.

·       Respect & Integrity: We act responsibly, speak respectfully, and uphold high standards of honesty and professionalism in everything we do.

·       Inclusive & Fair: We actively welcome and include people of all backgrounds, recognising diversity as a strength and striving to treat everyone equitably.

·       Collaborative & Community: We value teamwork, shared learning and partnership — inside the organisation and with the communities we serve.

·       Communication & Cohesion: We promote open, positive and transparent communication, working together as a unified organisation — one railway, many voices.

·       Change & Learning: We embrace growth and improvement, taking ownership of our own development and supporting others on their learning journeys.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

Llangollen Railway Trust is committed to promoting equality, celebrating diversity, and fostering an inclusive environment for all. We believe our heritage railway should be a welcoming place where everyone, regardless of background, identity, or circumstance, feels respected, valued, and able to thrive.

We actively oppose all forms of discrimination and are working to break down barriers to participation, whether in volunteering, employment, or engagement with our activities. Our approach is guided by fairness, transparency, and a commitment to continuous learning.

We know we are stronger when our team reflects the communities we serve, and we welcome applications from people of all ages, abilities, ethnicities, genders, and walks of life.
