About us
Who we are
About us
At the Melanoma Fund, we’re redefining how the UK thinks about sun protection. Through our national Sunguarding® movement, we help people in sport, outdoor recreation, workplaces, and education protect themselves and those they lead from melanoma and all other forms of skin cancer, the most common cancer in the UK.
We’re a small, high-performing charity with a national footprint and a clear purpose: prevention through culture change. Everything we do is evidence-based, practical, and partnership-driven — from our accredited Sunguarding® Schools PSHE lesson to our national Sunguarding® Sport and Outdoors campaigns.
We work closely with governing bodies, teachers, coaches, outdoor professionals, and corporate partners to make sun and heat protection a visible, everyday habit. Our campaigns are free, accessible, and designed to shift behaviour — not just awareness.
Who we are
We’re a creative, agile team that punches well above our weight. Led by CEO Michelle Baker, we bring energy, innovation, and precision to every campaign. Our partners include Youth Sport Trust, PGA, the afPE and the PSHE Association, proof that collaboration sits at the heart of our impact.
Joining us means being part of a mission that saves lives through prevention, influences national health standards, and builds lasting behavioural change. If you want your fundraising expertise to power measurable public impact, this is the right place to do it.
Our culture and values
We move fast, think strategically, and act with purpose. The Melanoma Fund is built on collaboration, creativity, and accountability, values that drive every partnership and campaign.
We believe prevention is only possible through clarity, evidence, and cultural change. That means we prize smart thinking, direct communication, and a results-driven mindset. Every team member, partner, and contractor shares a single goal: to make sun protection second nature in everyday life.
We’re a lean organisation, but our impact is national. We operate with trust, independence, and high expectations, giving people the freedom to deliver, the autonomy to innovate, and the support to succeed.
If you’re motivated by measurable impact, high standards, working smart and with purpose, you’ll feel at home here.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Equality, diversity and inclusion
We are committed to building a workplace and network of partners that reflect the diverse communities we serve. The Melanoma Fund values individuality, respects difference, and opposes all forms of discrimination.
Our work is rooted in public health, which means inclusion is not an afterthought; it’s essential to how prevention succeeds. We believe that the more diverse our perspectives, the stronger and more relevant our campaigns become.
We actively welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, abilities, and life experiences, particularly those under underrepresented in the charity sector. Recruitment and progression are based solely on merit, potential, and shared purpose.
Everyone who works with us — whether employee, freelancer, or partner — is treated with fairness, dignity, and respect.
