About us

Who we are

NDVA’s sole role is to support and represent the Health & Social Care Voluntary Sector in Derbyshire and liaise with statutory agencies. The Charity's objectives are: 1. The promotion and protection of good health for the public in Derbyshire 2. The promotion of the voluntary sector. We do this by: a) liaising between charities, voluntary organisations, government or statutory agencies and working with them, b) assisting in the administration of funding programmes to charities and voluntary organisations, monitoring grants, recommending grants for such organisations and assisting them in their applications for grants and c) by acting as a representative of the voluntary sector in relation to how the sector is affected by government policies and legislation. NDVA currently has over 700 health and social care related voluntary groups on its specialist database, hosts a quarterly Health & Social Care Forum and produces and distributes a quarterly newsletter, regular e-bulletins. NDVA also administers a Small Grants Scheme, a Start- up Grant, NHS Health Grants and NHS Derbyshire County BME Health Grants and represents the Health & Social Care Voluntary Sector across Derbyshire at many strategic meetings, including the: Health & Wellbeing Board, Adult Care Board, Derbyshire Safeguarding Adults at Risk Partnership Board, Learning Disability County Partnership Board, Derbyshire Partnership Forum and many more.... NDVA’s Mental Health Liaison Service works closely with Commissioners and its sister organisation (SDVSMHF) in southern Derbyshire to support and represent mental health groups across Derbyshire. NDVA's specialist themed sub-groups - help inform commissioners and encourage partnership working, while NDVA's ‘TRI Group’ (Transform Resources and Influence Group) forms an interactive open arena for mutual support, to monitor and facilitate change within the Health & Social Care Voluntary Sector. NDVA are currently working closely with North Derbyshire and Hardwick CCGs and Derbyshire County Council Adult Care on the Integrated Care agenda to integrate the Voluntary Sector into strategic plans, both locally and regionally.
