About us
Who we are
We are a UK-registered, trans-led charity dedicated to uplifting and improving the lives of trans+ adults across the country. Founded in 2020, we focus on creating safe, joyful spaces through community-driven projects, awareness campaigns and advocacy. Our flagship programme, Misfits, offers fitness and wellbeing sessions that empower trans+ people to reconnect with their bodies in supportive, inclusive environments. Beyond this, we deliver training for businesses to foster genuine allyship and fund trans-led initiatives that create real change. Rooted in the belief that joy is an act of resistance, our work celebrates trans lives while tackling the inequalities and isolation still faced by many in our community.
Our culture and values
At Not A Phase, our culture is built on authenticity, community, and joy. As a trans-led organisation, everything we do is grounded in lived experience, the people shaping our work are the very people it’s designed to support. Our culture is unapologetically inclusive, collaborative, and compassionate, creating a sense of belonging for everyone who crosses our path, whether that’s a team member, volunteer, or someone from our community.
Our core values centre on empowerment, visibility, and joy as resistance. We believe that thriving, not just surviving, should be the goal for every trans+ person. We prioritise honesty and integrity in how we communicate and operate, always putting our community’s needs at the heart of every decision. We also value allyship that’s active and accountable, encouraging others to move beyond words to meaningful action. Above all, we celebrate individuality, build confidence, and remind people that trans lives are full of power, creativity, and connection.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
At Not A Phase, equality, diversity and inclusion are at the heart of everything we do. We’re a proudly trans-led organisation, and we believe that every person, regardless of their gender identity, race, sexuality, disability, age, or background deserves to feel seen, valued and respected. Our policy is simple: we celebrate difference, challenge discrimination, and create spaces where everyone can thrive as their authentic selves.
We actively embed inclusion into our work, from how we recruit and train our team to how we design our programmes and partnerships. We don’t just talk about equality, we live it, holding ourselves accountable to the communities we serve. Our goal is to build a world where diversity isn’t just acknowledged, but celebrated, and where every trans+ person has the opportunity to live with dignity, joy and freedom.
