About us
Who we are
Oasis started in 2008 and welcomes around 2500 people seeking sanctuary (asylum seekers and refugees) per year across South Wales. We empower them to reach their aspirations for themselves and their families by providing:
- access to the essentials
- education and career pathways
- community integration activities to build relationships at Oasis and in their local communities
- opportunities to influence the services and systems that impact their lives
Our commitment to co-production ensures that everything we do is shaped by the needs and voices of those we support, making them central to everything we do.
As people from across the Oasis community reach their dreams, they make countless contributions towards the economy, society and culture in Wales.
Working hard each day to meet increasingly complex challenges, we aim to amplify our community’s voice to ensure all people seeking sanctuary can influence the systems that affect them, have access to crucial information, a safe space, and a warm, welcoming community.
Our culture and values
In early 2024, we established Oasis’ core values in collaboration with clients, volunteers from the local community and staff. From the second a client enters Oasis to when they move on, these values should follow clients in their journey through every interaction and experience. These values are: integrity, courage, kindness and a Warm Welsh Welcome.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
We are committed to:
-
Ensuring everyone has the same opportunities to fulfil their potential free from discriminationValuing and celebrating the diversity of the people we support and work with
-
Making sure everyone feels comfortable to be themselves at work and feels the worth of their contribution
-
Creating a culture of respect, dignity, and inclusion
-
Celebrating individual differences amongst the workforce and actively support diversity and inclusion.
We welcome applications from those with lived experience of the asylum process.
