Who we are
Sight for Life (SFL) is a registered charity in the UK and our Janat Aziz Eye Hospital is a registered Charity in Pakistan. SFL’s mission is to eliminate curable blindness and other sight related issues amongst some of the world’s poorest people.
We are one of a very few organisations working in rural Pakistan, where the need for eye care is greatest. So many people living in poverty, and facing challenges that brings, do not have the means to pay for treatment. Blindness complicates the challenges of poverty dramatically, however in many cases this is curable blindness which if treated promptly and properly alleviates a lifetime of suffering.
A child who can’t see cannot study, making it nearly impossible for them to improve their quality life. If even one family member struggles with blindness or eye disease, it affects the whole family. Furthermore, their situation is exacerbated if the family is afflicted happens to be the breadwinner, she/he cannot provide for his family, thus, the children have to work or go hungry. The family certainly can’t afford to send their children to school thus continuing the generational poverty cycle.
A blind mother can’t look after her children properly. Blind elderly family member will need full time care, a drain on the resources of the entire family. We are dedicated to breaking this cycle by treating more than 70,000 patients every year. This includes more than 13,000 state of the art, vision-saving or vision-restoring eye surgeries.

Our Vision
Every day, lives and livelihoods are ruined by preventable forms of tropical blindness and other serious eye disorders. Worse, the most vulnerable members of the community simply cannot afford the modern medical treatment these problems require.
Our vision is to provide free eye care and eye disease prevention to anyone in Pakistan, regardless of their financial circumstances. You can help us make this vision a reality
