About us
Who we are
The Sir John Fisher Foundation is a grant-making charity based in Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria.
We support charitable organisations which serve community needs and grow ambitions in the arts, music and
education. Our focus is on funding for core costs and long-term projects that produce sustained results.
Our culture and values
We are:
- COMMUNITY-FOCUSSED. We are embedded in the community in the Furness Peninsula. Local is important to us.
- CARING. We build trusting relationships and we support with compassion.
- LONG-TERM. We are here for as long as we are needed. We prioritise long-term outcomes.
- GROWTH-ORIENTED. We encourage boldness. We always strive to grow our impact.
- OPEN-MINDED. We are independent in our thinking. We are open and flexible to new ways of doing things.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
We are actively seeking candidates from a wide range of backgrounds, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, age, socioeconomic status, disability, sexual orientation, and professional expertise. We believe that diverse perspectives strengthen our governance, enrich our decision-making and ensure that our mission is carried out equitably. We encourage applications from individuals who bring lived experiences and insights that have been historically underrepresented in leadership roles.
