About us
Who we are
The British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT) is the professional association for art therapists in the UK. We work to raise professional standards of art therapists and promote a better understanding of the benefits art therapy can bring in promoting wellbeing and good mental health across all communities. We promote art therapy to policy makers, opinion formers and the general public.
With over 3000 members, we provide a wide range of member support services, ranging from training events, conferences, a peer reviewed journal "The International Journal of Art Therapy", a member magazine and fortnightly e-bulletins.
Full Members are qualified art therapists, regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Our members help transform the lives of adults and children in a range of settings, including the NHS, education, third sector and private practice.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
We are committed to equality of opportunity and to supporting the creation of a fair, inclusive and diverse community, where all are free from prejudice and have the support they need to achieve their full potential. We are a disability confident employer.
