Who we are
The Lute Society was founded by a small group of early music enthusiasts in 1956 to promote the lute and its music. It has grown into a vibrant, learned, international charity with over a thousand members passionate about playing and making lutes and other early related instruments, publishing editions of lute music, supporting lutenists, and understanding the history of the lute.
