About us
Who we are
The Maitri Trust believes that education is one of the most powerful tools we have to reduce poverty, improve health and wellbeing, and build stronger, more resilient communities. That’s why we invest in primary education: because when children learn, everything can change.
The Maitri Trust partners with changemakers working to overcome the complex challenges facing education systems, and the children they serve, in India and South Africa. By tackling this key early stage, we aim to set children up for better lifelong outcomes.
Founded by Stewart Investors in 2006, the Maitri Trust has directed over £51million of their philanthropic giving, offering flexible funding to a broad spectrum of transformative solutions. However, funding is just part of our story. More than philanthropic bystanders, we share the passion of our partners, supporting their journey with the full backing of our dedicated and experienced team. Working in partnership and collaboration with organisations who share our vision, we aim to transform primary education so that every child can learn, grow and thrive.
