About us
Who we are
West Kent is a vibrant community provider of social housing, affordable homes and services to people living in the towns and villages throughout Kent.
Our culture and values
At West Kent we’re passionate about the role a housing association can play in society and believe the values of an organisation are what makes it special. Our vision is to deliver places to live and space to grow for our current and future residents.
Our values guide us to how we do this from delivering on our promises, working with honesty, integrity and flexibility, showing compassion and self-awareness, as well as a commitment to learning and equally important working hard and having fun.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion is important to us.
We want to create a culture of inclusivity and curiosity that values difference, where people feel respected, included, and heard, and where prejudice and discrimination is recognised and addressed.
Our Framework in summary
We have set out our commitment in our EDI framework – which is a tool to ensure that EDI is not a separate distinct activity, but is something that is culturally embedded in everything we do
We’re committed to creating a culture of inclusivity and curiosity that values difference, where everyone feels respected, included and heard. Our framework outlines how we:
- Support customers by delivering accessible, inclusive services shaped by their experiences and feedback.
- Work with communities to co-create projects that reflect local needs and promote safety and belonging.
- Empower staff through inclusive recruitment, accessible workplaces, and opportunities to shape their environment.
- Use data, training, and accountability to ensure EDI is part of everyday decision-making and service delivery.
This is a living commitment, monitored by our Board and EDI steering group, and shaped by ongoing engagement with residents and staff.
