About us

Who we are

Westminster LGBT+ Forum is free to join and open to all members and allies of LGBT+ community who live, work, play, visit or just love Westminster. Anybody can become a member just by subscribing to the newsletter. We won't ask for names to respect privacy of those who're not out or wish to keep it private. We have three types of memberships:

    1. General membership to attend events and the AGM
    2. Full committee member to attend one meeting a month, or about ten a year
    3. Associate committee member to attend one or two meetings a year that focus on the areas of their interest. For example, volunteer, funding, promotion, etc.

The Westminster LGBT Forum is a caring, sharing constituted group run by volunteers and a dedicated committee. Our aim is to connect and support members and allies of the wider LGBTQIA+ community through shared lobbying, social and cultural events as well as sign posting to partner organisations providing wellbeing support.

The Westminster LGBT+ Forum has been an important part of the fabric of Westminster life since 2012, with the aim of providing a space for the social concerns of the LGBTQ+ community in Westminster. When COVID-19 sent the Westminster community indoors, many suffered, not least our LGBTQ+ residents, workers and visitors. Since then, we have made it our mission to bring the LGBTQ+ community and allies together into new spaces to share, learn and thrive. Ultimately, our efforts are underpinned by the need for better mental health for all.

Our culture and values

The Westminster LGBT+ Forum is a proudly inclusive, volunteer-led organisation rooted in the values of equality, representation, and community empowerment. We celebrate the diversity of LGBTQIA+ lives and centre those with lived experience—especially individuals who are marginalised due to ethnicity, disability, migration status, HIV status, or socio-economic background.

We value collaboration, transparency, and mutual respect, and strive to create safe, accessible spaces where all voices are heard. Our working practices emphasise flexibility, co-production, and peer support, ensuring that everyone—whether a volunteer, partner, or participant—feels welcomed, respected, and supported.

We are committed to anti-discrimination, creative expression, and to making lasting, meaningful impact through both advocacy and joyful community events.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

The Westminster LGBT+ Forum is committed to promoting equality, fairness, and dignity for all. We actively oppose all forms of discrimination, including on the grounds of sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, disability, age, religion, HIV status, migration status, or socio-economic background.

We strive to create an inclusive culture where diverse voices are not only welcomed but actively centred in our work. This is reflected in our programming, recruitment, partnerships, and governance.

Our Committee reflects a range of lived experiences and we make accommodations to ensure participation is accessible, including offering remote attendance, flexible volunteering hours, and peer-led support. We follow clear codes of conduct and safeguarding procedures, and review our practices regularly to uphold our inclusive values.

We believe that representation matters, and that meaningful inclusion requires both listening and action.
