About us

Who we are

Worth Unlimited is a Youth and Community Work charity, consisting of a nation-wide network of projects, led by local branches, so as to unlock, foster and realise the potential and worth of young people experiencing disadvantage, marginalisation and exclusion.

It harnesses a creative, hopeful mix of distinctive local initiatives and impetus, shared values and approaches and a portfolio of tried and tested programmes. Beneficiaries can identify with its model for developing personal, social and community ‘wholeness’ through branches, enterprises and partnerships in specific and geographically diverse localities.

Its teams of innovative and flexible youth and community workers and volunteers offer experiential learning, guidance and ongoing support through a network of organisations, supported by a small core infrastructure that helps to develop initiatives and provides essential professional support services. As a learning community, it seeks continuously to improve its understanding and skills within such work.

Our projects range from alternative education, to detached youth work, to counselling services, to a bike social enterprise. These projects are varied because Worth Unlimited seeks to support local people who are inspired to make a difference in their location with their ideas which address local needs.

Our team of employees and volunteers have one thing in common; wanting to passionately give themselves to supporting young people.

Is that your kind of passion?

Then come and join us!

Applicants for all jobs need to be willing to work within our Christian ethos and values.

Worth Unlimited is a Safe Recruiter and will require all applicants to undergo a DBS disclosure as well as taking references.  A criminal record is not necessarily a bar to working for us but must be declared on application.

Our culture and values

Our vision is that every young person has the opportunity to realise their unlimited worth and potential. Our mission is to create spaces where young people are heard, are valued and can grow. Our values are stand together, act with purpose, include everyone and invest in participation.

Stand Together: This is the mentality that no one is left to fend for themselves, no one gets left behind. We are one body and if one part is sick or injured, the rest of the body is effected. As human beings, our successes and failures are tied up with the successes and failures of those around us. We all need people who will stand and act in solidarity with us and we need to step up and be those people for others.

Include Everyone: This is about taking our name seriously - recognising that all people are of unique and unlimited worth and that we each have a role to play in creating welcoming, positive and safe spaces. When we feel valued, we are able to fully be ourselves and have the confidence to bring our unique contribution. Including everyone means being people who build relationships to ensure everyone belongs.

Act with Purpose: At the heart of Worth Unlimited is a yearning for shalom - a world that's as it should be. A vision only leads to change when it's backed up by determination, action and ensuring the people we're working with get the most out of their time with us. This is about keeping our purpose at the forefront of our thinking as we plan engaging programmes and make decisions about how we use our resources and skills.

Invest in Participation:We are all our healthiest and strongest when everyone contributes what they can and we should all be able to shape the systems we live within and the services which are meant to be for our benefit. We should all have a voice. We should all have influence. We should all participate. We need to show up and create opportunities and access points which enable those we work with to show up too.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

It is a fundamental Christian understanding that all people are made in the image of God, and we therefore celebrate the rich diversity of the neighbourhoods in which we are working as a source of life and vibrancy.  We embrace the opportunities diversity creates for new experiences and learning, and the increased strength, openness and wisdom to which these lead.  Discriminatory practice is not only illegal, but also against our values.  Instead, Worth Unlimited positively welcomes our diverse communities, seeking to work with all who seek to promote the common good, and looks forward to the time when God’s desire for a society based on equality, justice, love, and compassion is fulfilled where all can take their meaningful place.

Throughout our work, we are committed to reflecting the full diversity of the community we serve and to promoting equality of opportunity for everyone.  We aim to ensure equal access to our services by all young people on the basis of need and to provide services in a manner that is sensitive to the individual, whatever their background.  We will represent the needs of our diverse client group to other agencies and make equal opportunities a key guiding principle in all of our work with our partners.

We will work hard to ensure that our workforce reflects the communities it serves. We recognise that we don’t always get this right. We can be unaware of our own prejudices, and we have not always been vocal enough about the things we stand for. At such times we will humbly seek forgiveness, and seek to make right what has been wrong. We will work to eliminate discriminatory behaviour wherever it is found and educate those who show prejudice, as we pursue a better world for young people.

We seek to be proactive about minimising discrimination within our organisation, whether in our employment and volunteering practices, or in the way we work with participants.  We are committed to ensuring that in all aspects of our provision and projects are open to all, regardless of: • age • disability • gender reassignment • marriage and civil partnership • pregnancy and maternity • race • religion or belief • sex • sexual orientation • employment status • income level • responsibility for dependants
