Who we are

The Students’ Union’s work is driven by a vision of students at the heart of everything at York.  As a registered charity that’s made up of elected student representatives, York SU is an entirely independent organisation with a range of mechanisms to ensure students’ opinions steer our work.

York SU is dedicated to ensuring members have the best University experience and improving the lives of students at the University of York by:

• Championing the interests and welfare of students

• Representing students’ interests to the University of York

• Providing social, cultural, sporting and recreational activities and forums for discussion and debate for the personal development of its students.

We recognise we can’t work alone - we know and are open about our limitations and believe that collective action and solidarity is what makes our work special. We weave and connect what already exists, build on common ground and focus on what unites us rather than divides us.
