We are looking for dedicated Outreach Volunteers in the London Boroughs of Kingston, Richmond and Wandsworth. We would particularly like to hear from you if you live in or near the above boroughs.
The Outreach teams encounter people on their first steps from homelessness to independence – providing pathways and support to assist people off the streets.
We work with people who are rough sleeping and we do shifts late at night, and early in the morning, to find these individuals. SPEAR then works with people on a housing pathway and assists them to link into various support services, tailored to the challenges an individual might face.
SPEAR is looking for self-motivated, outgoing, and empathic people who could volunteer to provide support to vulnerably housed, rough sleepers, or anyone using homelessness services in the London boroughs of Richmond, Wandsworth and Kingston.
The volunteer will enjoy developing positive relationships with new people and will be willing to work outside of their own comfort zone providing support and assistance to the Outreach Teams clients. The volunteer must have an enhanced DBS background check (SPEAR will apply for this on your behalf.)
It would be desirable if you had a driving license.

It is fantastic that you would like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. As an Outreach volunteer you will be assisting outreach workers to support Romanes or Romanian speaking clients face-to-face or over the phone. Other tasks involved in this role will include helping clients access support around immigration, employment, reconnections, and accommodation, to have a good understanding of the Roma communities and have knowledge of the UK EUSS requirements while understanding the rights clients have with pre settled statues and settled statues. For this role it is required that you can speak Romanes or Romanian fluently or to a high level.
In this role, you will be supporting us with some or all of the following tasks:
• Assisting outreach workers to support Romanes or Romanian speaking clients face to-face or over the phone.
• Engaging with rough sleepers who have been referred via StreetLink and those known to the team, supporting the key worker with general assessments
• Helping clients access support around immigration, employment and reconnections and accommodation.
• Working together with the outreach worker and divide tasks where appropriate, such as accompanying clients to appointments
• Supporting outreach workers with navigation and note taking.
• Engaging with rough sleeping clients with sensitivity and respect.
• Adhering to St Mungo’s Policies and Procedures at all times.
• Promoting St Mungo’s work in an appropriate manner.
• Actively promoting equality, diversity and inclusion among staff, fellow volunteers and clients.

One25 is a Bristol-based charity, specialising in supporting women to break free from street sex-work, addiction and other life-controlling issues and build new, independent lives. We provide night outreach (7 sessions weekly), a Health Hub and casework, giving person-centred support and advocacy to around 240 women each year.
One25’s outreach service is often how women first make contact with us, meeting us on our fully equipped outreach van. Three volunteers, one an experienced team leader, go out on the van at night and meet women’s basic needs by providing nutritious food, first aid, warm clothing, condoms, safety alarms etc. They provide the chance to talk and get advice in a safe space and encourage women to get more in-depth help by visiting our drop-in or seeing a caseworker.
We are looking for volunteers who are comfortable driving an Iveco Daily (manual) to deliver our evening outreach. This volunteer will also be responsible for taking case notes for the team and looking after the safety of the vehicle. The volunteer will also be responsible for speaking with the women and best practice/trauma informed.
It is an Occupational Requirement that applications for this post are open to women only, as permitted under Schedule 9, Part 1, of the Equality Act 2010. Enhanced DBS disclosure will be required.
Availability and commitments needed:
• Shifts: Monday-Thursday and Sunday nights from 8.45pm-12pm, Friday and Saturday nights 8.45pm-1.30am all year round.
• Available to commit 2 evenings per month, for at least a year
• To successfully complete a driving assessment during interview stage and when One25 gets its electric van (date tbc)
• To complete a Volunteer Induction, Safeguarding and Boundaries training (date tbc – online in evening)
• To complete the Volunteer Experience survey every 6 months
• Able to travel to and from St Pauls, Bristol after shift
• Attend probation review after 10 shifts and if requested external support (which we would fund).

About the role
Becoming a Bus Driver Volunteer is a wonderful way to have fun and meet new people whilst supporting the Charity in raising vital funds and awareness of the charity within the local communities across the county.

• Driving our ‘Hearing Hopper’ outreach vehicle through the local communities within East Sussex

We are looking for volunteers to join our accelerated pathway to becoming a Van Team Leader. This pilot project will be for people who have professional experience in the following areas:

The project will aim to train volunteers up into Team Leaders within 6 months. This will consist of fortnightly van shifts and monthly training forums, and frequent mentorship from the Volunteer Manager.
Upon completion of the programme Team Leaders will be able to reduce their commitment to monthly van outreach shifts and quarterly training/meetings, with the expectation that Team Leaders will continue as a volunteering for more than 2 – 3 years (24/36 shifts).

Your contribution
We are looking for Volunteers for a range of activities including befriending, pastoral care, outreach, teaching ESL, casework, admin and counselling. It’s an exciting time to join our team as we are implementing steps to expand our work to support more women.
We need volunteers who are willing to help, with a caring approach and sensitivity to the challenges involved in this work. All volunteers will receive training. Volunteer Counsellors must be qualified to a minimum of Level 5 Diploma or Degree level and be a member of the ACC, BACP or UKCP, and will receive supervision.
Please note that commencement of volunteer activities is dependent on placement and necessary onboarding for specific roles.
Time committment will vary for each placement, dependent on requirements, but generally this would be between 5 to 10 hours per month.

Role Summary
We are looking for a new Chair of Trustees who will offer strategic and supportive leadership to our highly effective, collaborative and committed Board. The Chair leads the board, ensuring that it governs the charity effectively, in service of the charity's vision and mission. The Chair leads in an inclusive way, supporting the Board to work together well, and providing support and challenge to the Chief Executive. The Chair is also an ambassador for the charity.
Chair role & responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership to the charity and the Board, ensuring that Glass Door achieves its mission with the interests of Glass Door's guests at its centre.
Work collaboratively with the CEO, staff and volunteers to achieve our mission and optimise the relationship between the Board and Glass Doors's staff and volunteers.
Provide leadership within the Board, ensuring that it fulfills its responsibilities for the governance of the organisation and promoting governance among fellow Trustees, providing clarity around boundaries between governance, management and operations.
Plan and chair the bi-monthly board meetings and the AGM, with colleagues as appropriate and liaise with the CEO, Company Secretary and Governance Trustee with regard to setting up meetings, agenda items and annual report content.
Facilitate meetings ensuring all have equal involvement in discussions, clarifying any uncertainties, confirming decisions made and actions to be taken and ensuring effective time management of meetings whilst providing appropriate periods of discussion and reflection.
Act as a spokesperson and figurehead for Glass Door when required.
Support Glass Door functions and events eg attendance at supporter events.
Support the Head of Fundraising & Major Donors with the cultivation of high-level donors, occassionally attending meetings where value can be added.
Represent the Board at staff Town Hall meetings.
Support the team liaising with partner churches and statutory authorities as required and be the public face of Glass Door in the local community.
Liaise with the CEO and he Board to keep an overview of the charity's affairs.
Provide supervision and support to the CEO as necessary in addition to planned monthly/bi-monthly 'catch up' meetings and, with the People Trustee, lead the CEO's annual performance review.
To act as final stage adjudicator for disciplinary and grievance procedures if required.
What we are looking for
Experience of being a Trustee, ideally in the third sector, and an understanding of the legal responsibilities and liabilities of a Trustee/Director.
A keen sense of strategic purpose.
Strong leadership skills, able to foster and promote a collaborative team environment and an inclusive and collaborative leadership style; able to inspire and support everyone to participate on an equal footing.
An ability to facilitate, mediate, influence and respect the confidences of colleagues. The ability to listen and engage effectively. You are comfortable with challenge and debate and are able to encourage that in others whilst fostering a collaborative board environment.
Excellent presentation and communication skills.
Advocate and ambassador - possess gravitas to lead the organisation and be able and willing to champion Glass Door.
Demonstrate a strong and visible passion and commitment to Glass Door's guests and ensure that the interests of our guests drive the decisions of the Board.
