Job description

*Please note whilst we accept both male and female applicants, we will particularly welcome female applicants as these are underrepresented within our shelter workforce.

We're looking for confident and empathetic overnight project workers to join our team.

Our shelters run from a different venue, every night of the week in West London. The shelters accommodate around 30 guests each night.

A Shelter Manager is on duty during the course of the evening and is supported by one of the Project Workers. A team of volunteers is also on duty during the evening to prepare and serve a meal to the guests.

As part of the two-person overnight team, you will be responsible for ensuring the security and safety of all guests in the shelter throughout the night and that all project activities meet health and safety requirements.

It is a waking shift that starts at either 7:30PM or 9:45PM and lasts until 7:15AM. You must remain awake and alert throughout your shift and respond appropriately to any situations or emergencies that may occur. You will be expected to take part in regular twenty-minute checks throughout the night. The two duty Project Workers are also responsible for the overseeing the serving a simple breakfast to our guests an ensuring that everyone leaves each venue by 7AM.

Some shifts start at 7:30PM to support the Shelter Manager and volunteer teams. The second project worker then begins their shift at 9:45PM before the Shelter Manager hands over responsibility to the overnight workers.

Closing date: 1 November 2021 (9am)
