An exciting opportunity has arisen in East Sussex for a highly motivated and committed Family Worker to build on a well-established commissioned service.
About the Role:
Kinship is the leading kinship care charity in England and Wales. We work with all kinship carers – the grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and family friends who are caring for children when their parents can’t.
We’re seeking an experienced Family Worker who is passionate about supporting kinship carers to get the right support at the right time. We are looking for someone who has the interpersonal and partnership skills to perform their role sensitively and creatively while also meeting reporting and impact requirements. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with East Sussex County Council and will share their ambition to support families to keep their children safe through support, advice and guidance.
You’ll be delivering our Kinship Connected programme offering support to special guardians and other kinship carers, providing emotional and practical support to carers in their homes and in the community over a six-month intervention cycle. You’ll also connect them with other kinship carers through peer support groups, as well as supporting to unlock community assets.
This is a role where you’ll need to have strong boundaries and personal resilience – which we’ll also support through development and reflective practice.

Peer Support Worker
£27,344 – £29,439, depending on skills and experience

The Peer Support Service operates alongside other clinical and wellbeing services to provide formalised peer support for people living with common and complex mental health needs and complex emotional needs, including personality disorder.
The service compliments and collaborates with NHS Peer Support Workers and is delivered from community-based locations and NHS Hubs across Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster to help people regain control over their lives, shaped by their own unique recovery process.
The role involves experiential sharing, connecting relationships and community building to deliver a range of peer support activities, including one to one peer support, peer support groups, training and workshops.
The successful candidate will have:
· Personal lived experience of recovery and living well with a mental health condition
· Knowledge of recovery focused approaches in mental health and trauma informed practice
· Proven experience of delivering peer support
· Knowledge and experience of common and complex mental health conditions, including complex emotional needs and personality disorder
· Experience of working with diverse communities
· Knowledge and experience of Safeguarding procedures
· Strong communication skills
· Ability to use your own lived experience to inspire hope and recovery in others
· Ability to manage self-care
· Ability to plan and organise your own time and work
· Ability to facilitate online support face to face and using Zoom or Teams

The Wingfield Resource Centre currently provides support for individuals experiencing mental health crisis or who require preventative support. We operate 365 days a year from 6pm to 11pm. Our Peer Support service will offer both intensive and low key peer support services. You will support people who are going through a difficult time, by sharing your experiences, helping them discover the strengths and developing skills that will lead to wellness. But it's only possible with the help of people like you.
Day-to-day, you’ll work with the support staff, mental health nurses and the people who use our services to develop an inclusive and effective peer support service, offering individual and group support. In partnership with Southern Health Foundation Trust, Solent Mind has an established Peer Support Team throughout Southampton’s Community Mental Health Team (CMHT), Primary Care Networks (PCNs) & Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) Services. We are looking to recruit a Peer Support Worker with lived experience of Gambling Disorder for the newly formed Southern Gambling Service based at College Keep in Southampton. This exciting new role will be mainly based online; however, you will be working within a multidisciplinary team and reporting to an established Senior Peer Worker working within Southampton.
About you
As a Peer Support Worker, it is essential you have lived experience of the mental health difficulties associated with gambling disorder and understand the key concepts of recovery. Working as a part of the Peer Support Team within Southampton, you will need to have the confidence and skills to work with NHS staff at all levels and to work with service users with a range of ages and needs. The ability to travel is essential for this role as although you will mainly be based at home, you will be required to travel into Southampton on a regular basis to attend team meetings and one-to-one reviews.

The HIV Peer Support Network Manager is responsible for managing an innovative, comprehensive peer support network for people living with HIV (PLWH) across eight HIV clinics in Southeast and Southwest London.
The job will involve overseeing and coordinating the peer support network, liaising with funders and partner organisations. You will also support our five peer mentors and liaise with our clinical partners and deliver some frontline support yourself. The postholder will also initiate a quarterly peer support network steering group, convened with METRO’s Head of HIV Services and representatives from each of our clinical partners.
Programme
The Fast-Track HIV Cities London initiative funds this programme of work. It is part of a collaborative piece of work between several HIV voluntary sector agencies, and NHS trusts in London, aiming to support PLWH to better engage in their health and care.
The partner trusts include, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Croydon Health Services NHS Trust, Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Epson and St Helier University Hospital and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.
The team provides services to a wide variety of clients of intersectional identities, with emphasis on those with under-served needs.
Our target groups include those who have complex needs and poor adherence to medication in diverse populations, including those from LGBTQ+ backgrounds, as well as those with Black African, Afro-Caribbean, Latin American, or Easter European heritage.
Role
Working closely with METRO’s Head of HIV Services, you will expand on our current peer mentoring offer and establish an innovative model for a peer support network across several NHS Trusts, where you will embed METRO’s peer mentoring best practice service and provide a bridge between clinicians and patients.
We are looking for committed and motivated individuals with lived experience of HIV to join our new HIV Peer Support Mentoring Network.
You will work across several NHS Trusts in Southeast and Southwest London, where you will be working to deliver peer support interventions to a wide variety of clients living with HIV, with emphasis on those with under-served needs.
Key duties include mentoring people living with HIV (PLWH), as well as contributing to programme outcomes and helping to manage relationships with hospital staff. All training required for the role will be provided.
Programme
As part of the HIV Peer Support Mentoring Network team, you will work with key clinical partners across London hospitals to deliver peer support to PLWH, emphasising those who struggle to engage with healthcare settings and/or attain virological suppression.
Working alongside the HIV Peer Support Mentor Network Manager, you will carry a caseload of clients, focusing on those that are finding it hard to stay in care, and help support with referrals to more specialist support, such as drug and alcohol, mental health and advice and advocacy support.

Trafalgar House is a mental health, supported housing and community based service, working to a recovery model. We provide a range of support services for people with mental ill health to access in their local community, including outreach support, peer support and supported housing. We have been operating in the area for a number of years and offer a staffed service to our residents aged 18 and upwards.
We know that recovery can look and feel very different to each and every one of us. But we also know that if we provide the right support, at the right time, we can inspire recovery nationwide and that recovery is possible for everyone. That’s where you come in.
Responsible for helping and inspiring the people who use our services to maintain their tenancy and independence in the community, we’ll rely on you to work with them to come up with a personal support plan that will see them achieve their goals and aspirations. Whether it’s developing their domestic and finance management skills or accessing work, leisure or educational opportunities, one thing’s for sure ‐ you will have every chance to shine.
No relevant experience is required as full training will be provided, although candidates with an understanding of mental health issues and/or lived experience would be welcomed. More important is your caring and compassionate nature and empathy and enthusiasm for helping others. Whatever your background, you’ll need to be happy to work both independently and within a team and willing to be part of a weekly rota system and available for on call duties.

Richmond Fellowship is part of Recovery Focus, a national group of charities highly experienced in providing specialist support services to individuals and families living with the effects of mental ill health, drug and alcohol use, gambling and domestic violence. From 1st June 2024 Richmond Fellowship will be merging with the mental health charity Humankind to form a single organisation that provides the joined-up mental health, housing and drug and alcohol support we’ve all known has been needed for decades. About us
Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. We know that homelessness is not inevitable. We know that together we can end it.
Our Homeless Health Peer Advocacy service supports people experiencing homelessness to access healthcare. This is an exciting opportunity to work with our committed team of volunteer peer advocates to improve clients’ access to health services.
The hours can be worked flexibly in line with Crisis’ Flexible Working Policy.
Location: Based at Crisis Skylight Birmingham with regular outreach to local health and homelessness services
About the role
As a Peer Advocate, you will support people experiencing homelessness to review their health needs and access health services. You will support clients to register with health services, attend appointments and communicate with health professionals, ensuring their needs and wishes are understood. You will provide some support to our fantastic team of volunteer Peer Advocates, standing in for them if they are unavailable and modelling best practice to new volunteers.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:

Personal experience of homelessness. Please note this only includes personal experience of having been homeless and does not include working in the homelessness sector or having friends or family who have been homeless.

The ability to be non-judgemental and to show empathy and compassion

An understanding of the challenges to accessing healthcare faced by people who are experiencing homelessness.

Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills

The ability to form professional relationships with peer advocate volunteers and advocacy clients and follow relevant guidance and procedures.

The successful candidate will be our strategic lead within our award-winning Barnet Together partnership, working as an equal partner with Young Barnet Foundation and Groundwork London. You’ll be overseeing our community organisation support, ensuring that the team meet their KPIs and that we also deliver on our work to challenge inequalities for marginalized groups. You’ll represent the voluntary sector at the most senior level in Borough meetings, and support the development of the VCSE Alliance for North Central London.
You’ll also oversee our libraries, strategizing and identifying opportunities to enhance the service, and act as contact point in our role as Locally Trusted Organisation for the Grange Big Local.
To succeed, you will need extensive experience of the voluntary sector, partnership management, and the gravitas to represent the sector to senior local leaders. You’ll be a natural problem solver and an advocate for equality, as well as a collaborative, coaching manager; a great relationship builder with tact and emotional intelligence, and a champion for the contribution of the sector to the borough, and society more widely. In return, you will become part of a friendly and supportive team, working within a focused but flexible culture, where diversity is valued and you can bring your whole self to work.
This is a UK based role, and whilst most of it can be done from home, candidates need to have, or be willing to relocate to, a base within about two hours travel time from Barnet. We anticipate a need to be in Barnet on a weekly basis on average, for which travel will be paid. We encourage flexible working to suit your work/life balance preferences where possible. We also operate a Time Off In Lieu (TOIL) system.
