This policy officer role supports our work in influencing the national policy agenda on NHS funding levels, financial performance, payments systems, and contracting. The post holder will have the opportunity to work closely with directors of NHS trusts and foundation trusts, and with the senior management of NHS Providers. You will also have an opportunity to contribute to activity across all areas of NHS Providers including joint working with other policy officers, and with the communications and development and engagement directorates.
In a typical week you may be asked to write a briefing for trust leaders on a new piece of national guidance on finance and operational performance; collate member insights to comment at pace on a draft policy document from national bodies; brief the director of policy and strategy or chief executive on a policy issue before they meet a senior counterpart in Whitehall; work with colleagues to develop and deliver a roundtable event to gather member views; and undertake interviews with senior finance leaders across the membership.
A finances background is not essential but you should be comfortable working with numbers. You should ideally have an interest in economics, an appreciation of the policy implications of the portfolio, and the ability to analyse relevant technical information. Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an HR professional with demonstrable experience working within a busy HR function at advisor level.
A key part of this role will involve supporting the Senior HR Manager with providing first line HR advice and guidance to managers and employees, ensuring effective resolution of employee relations matters. So along with excellent interpersonal skills and sound knowledge of current UK employment legislation, the successful candidate will have strong HR generalist skills to enable them to advise on various people related matters covering; HR policy advice, employee relations and performance management casework, equity, diversity and inclusion activities, recruitment and talent management initiatives including advice on learning and development activities.

Blue Ventures is a marine conservation organization that puts people first. We support coastal fishers in remote and rural communities to rebuild fisheries, restore ocean life and build lasting pathways to prosperity. Our work began two decades ago in Madagascar’s remote coastal communities and is growing globally. Across a dozen countries, we’re partnering with traditional fishers and community organizations to design, scale, strengthen and sustain fisheries management and conservation at the community level. We bring partners together in networks to advocate for reform, and share tools and best practices to support fishing communities across the globe.
Summary job description
We are recruiting a Senior Policy Advisor to support the growing work of our advocacy team. This new position will take a leading role in providing analytical marine policy insight and provide a broad range of support in delivering research and engagement at global, regional and national levels.
The Senior Policy Advisor will support and advance Blue Ventures’ 2030 advocacy objectives relating to industrial destructive fisheries, blue carbon and marine tenure rights of small-scale fishers (SSF). As well as developing and supporting strategies to advance these objectives at key global events, such as the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), climate COPs and UN-sponsored meetings, you will work with country programmes, other relevant Blue Ventures units and partner governments, SSF groups and civil society organisations to design and advocate for the adoption of aligned policies at a national level.
Reporting to the Head of advocacy, this is a full time role. There will be occasional travel to work closely with overseas colleagues, partners, field teams and communities.
You will be comfortable with complex projects, and be positive, organised and able to deliver high quality work on time. Candidates should be confident in managing ad hoc collaboration, policy analysis, as well as having good report writing and communication skills. You will have knowledge of small-scale fisheries, marine conservation or blue carbon policies. Ideally, you will have experience in community-based conservation or human rights initiatives. The role
Scope’s Lead Policy Advisors are responsible for developing and delivering policy work around an area of Scope’s strategy, providing insight, evidence and recommendations for change.

The Corporate and Legal Services Team, part of Corporate Governance & Risk Department, is looking for a Senior Legal Advisor to join the team. To provide advice in such areas as conservation investment including carbon credits, corporate governance and compliance, law and regulation, to ensure the RSPB is protected, complies with regulation and mitigates risk.
What's the role about?
This role will involve the following key activities.
- To provide advice and support on conservation investment including carbon credits.
- To maintain and update appropriate books, registrations, notifications and documentation for the RSPB and its subsidiary entities
- To protect its properties and interests and to ensure compliance with regulatory timetables and requirements.
- When required assist with matters in relation to data protection including to be able to identify the legal implications of new activities, initiatives, systems and processes including websites, ensuring all existing and new systems are legally compliant. Administer and deliver requests in relation to Data Subjects Rights, including Data Protection Subject Access Requests in liaison with colleagues throughout the RSPB at the request of the Data Subject, in order to meet the requirements of the Data Protection Act.
- Prepare materials or guide the preparation of materials for internal and external auditors to ensure that a fair, accurate and comprehensive vision of RSPB’s compliance processes can be provided.
- To assist with investigations into complaints about breaches of relevant legislation, undertake reporting/remedial action as required, and maintain a log of any incidents and remedial recommendations and actions to ensure continuous improvement and organizational learning.
- Duties will include drafting and providing, reviewing and advising on legal documents including policies, advice notes, procedures, deeds, contracts, Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), miscellaneous agreements, templates and specimen documents, for colleagues throughout the RSPB to ensure that legal risks are appropriately identified, managed and reviewed in a timely manner, and especially as part of the process of project and programme set-up and execution.
- Disseminate information and conduct training, including development, implementation and maintenance of guidelines and facilitation, for colleagues throughout the RSPB to ensure that the best use is made of the capabilities offered by the team where necessary and that colleagues have access to supporting materials at all times.
- Research, identify and interpret new legislation, regulation, and codes of practice, to provide the RSPB with a forward view of emerging requirements.
- On occasion will advise on intellectual property rights.
Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
- Individuals must have a legal qualification (law degree or other qualification) and/or experience in a relevant legal field (practitioner/solicitor/barrister in England & Wales or Northern Ireland).

The Early Intervention Foundation (EIF) is young charity established to champion and support the use of effective early intervention to improve the lives of children and young people at risk of experiencing poor outcomes.
As a member of the What Works Network, we have a pivotal role as the go-to source for evidence and advice on early intervention for children and young people. Our work spans social policy and service areas, including health, education, families and policing. We seek to communicate evidence in a way that is robust and transparent and that is also relevant and accessible for national and local audiences, including policymakers, public service commissioners and managers, frontline practitioners and service providers.
We are creating a new team to drive our impact and evaluation work, playing a key active role in identifying promising early intervention programmes and advising on, conducting or commissioning high quality evaluation of these. We are looking for a Senior Adviser, Impact and Evaluation who will play a key role in supporting the evaluation of programmes, practices or system changes in local areas. This will include supporting EIF’s work to conduct feasibility and pilot studies across a range of areas including domestic abuse and early help, as well as supporting the commissioning of impact studies such as QEDs and RCTs.
We are looking for people who understand the local context for family support services and have experience of conducting and/or commissioning evaluations in complex ‘real world’ settings, from feasibility or pilot studies to impact studies such as QEDs and RCTs. You will also have strong stakeholder management skills, able to build and maintain strong relationships with Whitehall, sector bodies, national charities and local public services.
To be successful in the role, you will be a confident communicator, with excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills as well technical know-how.
