We’re looking for someone with experience of team administration, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and negotiate when required at all levels internally and externally to fulfil a critical role that underpins the work of the Midlands team.
About the role
You’ll provide high quality admin support to the Midlands team, coordinate, plan and prep key meetings, and provide first point contact for both internal and external stakeholders. Including working coproductively with people living with Parkinson’s.
As members of the Community Directorate we aim to reach out to and support people with Parkinson’s, their families, friends and carers. We enable the voice of people affected by Parkinson’s to be heard to improve services, inform our priorities and improve decision making locally.
Through community development we work in close collaboration with our respective Parkinson’s communities to bring change on the issues that matter most to people affected by Parkinson’s
What you’ll do:

Organise online and in-person, internal and external meetings and other events, including booking venues and refreshments, assisting with the production of materials, liaising with participants and speakers, fulfilling mailings and taking bookings as required

Keep up to date with the directorate’s activities in order to provide clear, accurate information, and support the process of business performance and impact reporting

Respond to general enquiries in a timely and friendly fashion, ensuring needs are met, and participate in working groups, meetings, local events or activities as required

Maintain digital records on the charity’s data platforms
What you’ll bring:

Excellent administration skills, including note-taking, presentation preparation and a positive, assertive and resilient approach to prioritising and juggling varying pressures and conflicting priorities

Experience in coordinating multiple projects simultaneously that meet the business requirements

Experience of developing and maintaining effective working relationships with all stakeholders

Experience of operating in a modern digital workplace, including using digital tools to work collaboratively and productively

Ability to work flexibly and from home with some travel and the occasional overnight stay

Based within the Development Team you will look to identify funding opportunities to secure funds to ensure the Hospice successfully achieves its objectives and development plan. We are looking for a Finance Assistant with an aptitude for numeracy to support the Finance Manager and Senior Finance Assistant. The successful candidate to this role will have some experience in Finance or a keen interest in launching their career in Finance. They should have great communication skills and be ready and willing to learn. What's on offer for the candidate is an immediately available, ongoing permanent contract. This is the perfect role for someone at the beginning of their Finance career to learn and develop within a busy and exciting role.
Main Purpose of Job
To assist the Finance Manager and Senior Finance Assistant
Main Duties
- To assist in the day to day running of the organisation’s Sales, Purchase and Nominal Ledger using Sage bookkeeping system.
- Assist in the maintenance of information of the Finances of the Organisation.
- Input information to track grants and funding using Access databases.
- Use computer programmes including Sage, MS Word, Excel and Access.
- To administer timesheets, expenses and annual leave applications.
- Use a range of skills to communicate efficiently and effectively to support staff within the organisation.
Key Dimensions & Challenges
- Working to deadlines and managing competing demands
- To maintain good financial procedures with a high level of accuracy
- Working with staff based over three regional offices and some who are working from home
Core Skills & Experience
Essential
- An aptitude for numeracy
- A willingness to learn and progress to a Level 3 AAT or equivalent
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word and a knowledge of spreadsheet applications
- Good data entry skills and attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work alone and as part of a team

We are now looking to diversify the strategy and have created this new role to take forward opportunities with companies. This new role will support the Director of Development in shaping and implementing the next phase of DFN Project SEARCH’s fundraising strategy and will lead on the development of major new corporate partnerships. They will also lead on the development and management of a small number of existing corporate relationships and sponsorship opportunities.
To support the development of this new element of our strategy we have been working with a leading corporate partnerships consultancy. They have been helping to develop our proposition for companies, developing our strategies for approaching individual company prospects, and will be available to support you in your role when you start in post.
