As our PR Manager for the Midlands and the North of England, you will raise the profile of the British Heart Foundation (BHF) in support of our lifesaving work.
Responsible for creating awareness of BHF, you’ll focus on our research funding and its impact to grow our support and income. You’ll promote BHF’s work, influencing local partners and shaping the charity’s reputation through media, engagement events, and other communication channels.
Working with local teams to devise and deliver impactful communication strategies, you’ll meet challenging KPIs and demonstrate significant impact which should raise the public’s propensity to give. You will work with the UK-wide media team to devise and deliver PR strategies to promote key brand and awareness campaigns.
Your local expertise will guide the way we influence and use both traditional media, digital channels, and engagement opportunities.
Working arrangements
Please note this is a 12-month fixed term contract, covering secondment. Start date is as soon as possible. The contract will run for 12 months from start date.
This is a home-based role with occasional travel across the Midlands and North of England. There will also be a requirement to travel to BHF offices where necessary for team events and meetings.

About you
As our ideal candidate, you bring in-depth knowledge of the media landscape in the Midlands and North of England, and demonstrable experience of finding and developing stories for the media, delivering successful communications campaigns, and working collaboratively in a media team.
With strong experience gained as a journalist or in a communications role (either in-house or agency), you have excellent written and verbal communication and presenting skills, the ability to build trust and relationships, and strong creativity in developing campaigns. You can take complicated information and translate it into consumer-friendly communications.
A confident self-starter who enjoys travelling across the UK, you can work under your own initiative as part of a supportive and geographically dispersed team.

Main duties and responsibilities
Partnership Management
- Responsible for coordinating, managing and supporting RCUK’s collaborative activity with community and corporate partner organisations in the UK.
- Act as the central link between partner organisations, and our patient and public voice group.
- Manage relationships with both corporate and community partnerships developing strong new relationships and strengthening existing relationships, liaising with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

Strategy and Planning
- Lead on the implementation of a new partnership strategy for RCUK working closely with the Director of Communications and Engagement and key internal stakeholders, ensuring it remains relevant and develops across the life of our partnership activity.
- Lead on developing bespoke individual plans for each partner relationship.
- Lead on proactively researching and developing a pipeline of new partners whose values and mission align with the RCUK vision, presenting progress in monthly stakeholder meetings.
- Develop compelling partnership propositions and presentations for corporate prospects, ensuring alignment with our values.
- Chair a monthly partnership forward planning meeting with internal stakeholders and key members of the Senior Leadership Team.

About the role
As News and Media Manager, you will lead a hard-working and experienced team of media experts to bring to life Crisis’ work, demonstrate the solutions needed to tackle homelessness and inspire the public and politicians to join our mission to end it for good. You will oversee the development and delivery of high-profile media and communications campaigns, including our annual Christmas appeal, helping to build our brand. This is a fixed term role covering a secondment in the team, and with an upcoming general election, this is an exciting time take up the role for the next 10 months.

You will have significant experience of working in a challenging, fast-paced news and media environment to secure high-profile coverage and championing the voices of marginalised people. Your purpose
This year Voice 21 are recruiting to a newly formed Communications, Campaigns and Public Affairs department to help address these challenges. As Campaigns Manager, you will support the Head of Communications, Campaigns and Public Affairs to make oracy education ordinary, co-ordinating and project managing communications campaigns as well as leading content delivery. In doing so, you will play an integral role in ensuring all children, regardless of their background, find their voice for success in school and in life.
Your responsibilities
● Play a senior role in the Communications, Campaigns and Public Affairs team, as part of the wider Learning, Impact and Influence directorate
Campaigns (70%)
● Responsible for developing and delivering integrated campaigns working closely with Fundraising, Marketing, Customer Service and Service Delivery teams.
● This will include, but is not limited to: growing charity awareness, recruitment and retention, growing our advocacy base and policy change campaigns
● Taking a lead role in development and project management, you will deliver our national campaigns and business as usual communications projects
● Utilising matrix management, you'll bring internal and external teams and freelancers together to oversee all aspects of our campaigns.
● Engaging the entire marketing mix, you'll develop, implement, integrate, and evaluate campaigns across various channels, including PR, digital, advertising, and influencer amplification
● Planning, delivering and leading purposeful and planned communications cycles & campaigns
● Delivering and using implementable insights from analysis and user intelligence
Content and brand (30%)
● Creating, co-creating and commissioning communications materials and content and proactively spotting new opportunities to raise awareness of our work across the sector
● Implementation of the communications strategy and ensuring content constantly delivers against strategic needs
● Spotting reactive opportunities for content creation in line with the communications strategy
What the role might look like:
Within 3 months, you’ll have:

● Make recommendations for improving coordination systems and processes to better grow awareness of oracy and capacity to make policy changes
● Deliver strong analytics and insights systems

● Project managing campaigns and business as usual from conception to delivery and evaluation
● Matrix managing projects with staff from across various departments

● Strong eye for detail, including in copywriting and proofreading

You will ensure co-production and the voice and lived experiences ethnic Romani (Gypsy), Traveller and Roma is central to all our engagement and influencing work.
