Shannon Trust are delighted to be working with His Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS) to provide peer-led literacy across a number of prisons. We now have the opportunity to provide a service at HMP Foston Hall (subject to contract award). Working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will lead the delivery and development of our literacy programme at HMP Foston Hall, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read.
Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings underpinned by the ability to build relationships and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach.
This role will be prison-based. Our three year strategy is working well with improvements and expansions to our delivery model, a renewed vision and mission and we want to continue to develop and grow. To support this, we are recruiting for a new programme manager to grow our programmes and contracts in our East Midlands region. Our East Midlands area covers prisons such as HMP Foston Hall, HMP Leicester, HMP Whatton, HMP Gartree, HMP Lowdham Grange, HMP Sudbury, HMP Fosse Way, HMP Morton Hall, HMP North Sea Camp, HMP Peterborough and HMP Five Wells. Working closely with people in prison, prison managers, Shannon Trust staff and volunteers you will ensure development of our criminal programmes maximising literacy and numeracy learning opportunities for people across a number of prisons and contracts in your area.

Listen to Families is an innovative new service to improve prison healthcare by involving families and carers more proactively in the process. A pilot project - the first of its kind - has been running in London for around 18 months. It seeks to create mechanisms and opportunities for families to be heard and influence how healthcare services are delivered and developed.
The service listens to the views and experiences of families, feeds that back to the NHS and providers, makes recommendations about where improvements could be made, and works with them to co-produce solutions with people who have lived experience.
This role holder will set up a similar pilot project in four prisons in the South East – HMPs Elmley, Downview, Huntercombe and Aylesbury. This is an opportunity for someone to join and shape the delivery of the project from the day one.
We're looking for:
• A good understanding of service user engagement practices and methodologies.
• Understanding of the importance of professional boundaries and the complex/vulnerable nature of our service users.
• Knowledge and understanding of the diverse needs of prisoners and their families, including those from marginalised communities.
• Experience of service user involvement with diverse groups, ideally including people who have been affected by the criminal justice system.

The Team provides flexible and holistic support to residents with a wide range of support needs. We aim to support them to find and keep a stable home at the end of their CAS-2 placement. You will manage a caseload of clients in properties in your allocated patch in and around Nottingham ( with travel to Leicester & Derby)

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Plan and deliver effective support and safety plans with the service user referring to specialist agencies as required.
- Ensure that properties are always adequately equipped, maintained, furnished, and cleaned.
- Support residents to understand responsibilities that will help them keep their CAS-2 and future accommodation.
- Empower and motivate service users to identify and achieve desired outcomes.
- Develop a move-on plan with service users at the earliest opportunity, identifying realistic options for their future home.
