The Production/Live Broadcast Assistant will play a critical role in helping to further develop the public profile of our organisation.
Main tasks:
- Being on hand to assist the rest of the crew during setup, broadcast, and striking of Studio equipment
Skills:
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Previous broadcast or live streaming experience
- Basic knowledge of DSLR/Mirrorless cameras and professional camcorders (e.g. Sony NX100 or similar)
- Basic knowledge of HDMI, SDI, and Cat6 cables, extensions, and adapters
- Basic knowledge of editing and use of Adobe Premiere Pro

The Professional Development Programme with Quilombo UK runs over a period of 16 weeks, is UNPAID and requires a minimum of 12 hours commitment per week across Monday, Wednesday and/or Friday.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The National Institute for African Studies (NIAS) is a London-based think tank that provides objective information on African affairs, looking to appoint a Research & Publishing Intern within its office in Central London. Our main publication, The Saharan is an interdisciplinary journal published by NIAS aimed at exploring the dynamic relationship between culture and development in Africa.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Support the editors in the sourcing & production of blog and journal publications
- Checking material for completeness, copy-edit and check appropriate non-technical material such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter updates
- Generate, check and correct files with names, contact information, number of articles, review assessments, and consent forms.
- Serve as a custodian of approved originals of all documentation produced for The Saharan journal
- Use NIAS LinkedIn account to connect to academics and groups to promote the journal, acquire papers, and attract skilled scholars to become reviewers
- Coordinate the publication flow of the journal and all stages of the editorial processes upon the release of each issue
- Review and adjust publications according to the style of the journal, ensuring the correct usage of references and plagiarism checking
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST:
- Have a minimum of undergraduate degree
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office applications
- Demonstrate excellent editorial and administrative skills together with high attention to detail

Action Village India
Action Village India (AVI) is a small, UK-based charity that fundraises for Indian NGO partners to deliver programmes that will best assist the poorest and most marginalised sections of communities in rural India. AVI supports campaigns for social justice and equality on Gandhian principles of nonviolence.
You will be working hand-in-hand with a small and very agile team in the London office and as such the internship will be a fantastic opportunity to ground yourself in the basics of charity day-to-day administration, communication and event fundraising.
Working Information:
Location: London – Dalston Junction
Hours: 2 days per week plus attendance at WOMAD Festival 24-29th July 2024
Duration: 8-10 weeks. Internship to start early June (negotiable) and ending in the first week of August.

Job Purpose:
This internship will focus on developing an exhibition for WOMAD festival that highlights the work on Action Village India, and support the team during the weekend of WOMAD festival.
The biggest fundraising event we hold every year is Madras Café, held at Womad Festival at the end of July. Madras Café began its life as a Chai and leaflet stall over 30 years ago to help educate people about Action Village India and the difficulties people in rural India faced; today it is an established festival institution serving delicious Indian food to over 4000 people over three days. The Action Village India team holds a stall in the Madras Café tent selling ethical products made in India, showcasing our exhibition, and informing people about Action Village India. In the run up to the festival you will work on the development of the exhibition. During the festival you will be working with the Events Intern and staff to ensure a successful running of the stall and the exhibition. You will need to be available in the set up and weekend of the festival – 24-29th July 2024.
Main duties and responsibilities:
1. WOMAD Exhibition Support
§ Attend meetings on the planning of the exhibition
§ Research into the theme of the exhibition
§ Support with preparing, designing, creating and installing the exhibition
2. Event Management
§ Support with event management as and when required
§ Work with AVI staff, trustees and volunteers at Womad Festival 24-29th July 2024
3. Office Support
- Helping with the day to day running of the office, including communication with enquirers and supporters and the online gift shop
- Assisting with the production and printing of leaflets, appeals and fundraising materials
- Assisting with the distribution of mailings; appeals, newsletter and membership
- Creating content for various social media platforms

Terms of Internship:
This is a voluntary position. Overall Purpose of Role
- To ensure on behalf of the Board that Plateful Cafe’s assets are properly managed, only used for approved purposes, and applied as effectively as possible
- Jointly oversee the financial affairs of the organisation and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice
Main Responsibilities
- Share the responsibility of jointly reporting the financial position (balance sheet, cash flow, fundraising performance etc).
- Jointly oversee the production of necessary financial reports/returns, accounts and audits and the production of an annual budget and propose its adoption at the last meeting of the previous financial year.
- To ensure jointly that proper accounts and records are kept and that Plateful Cafe meets its legal obligations in respect of its financial affairs and financial reporting
- To ensure jointly that Plateful Cafe’s financial resources are spent in line with good governance and legal and regulatory requirements

Main Tasks
- Liaising with the appropriate member(s) of volunteers responsible for Plateful Cafe’s

QMC Capoeira is looking for a Volunteer Video Editor who would love to support a community organisation undertake an international martial arts tournament and Brazilian Cultural Festival Project related work. The role is to start ASAP and finish mid – late November.
QMC Capoeira is a martial arts school based in London that has been running since 2006, has academy in Canada and the Dominican Republic and is the most awarded Capoeira School in the UK.
The objective of the role is to:
- Work on highlights videos from events, workshops, and classes, promo videos, mini-documentaries, and micro shorts.
- Videos will be about Capoeira, martial arts, sports, and fitness, and an interest in any or all of these things is desirable.
- Knowledge and experience in creating videos for social media, particularly for Instagram and TikTok, are also desirable.
This role is fully remote.

Showroom Work Station is a registered charity and a cultural hub for South Yorkshire and the North of England.
Located in a converted 1930’s art deco building, the venue is home to a four-screen cinema, creative industries business centre, event space, and café bar, in the heart of Sheffield city centre.
We are looking to recruit new Trustees to join our board. We are particularly keen to hear from anyone with knowledge and understanding of major capital projects, fundraising or the hospitality sector. However, if you don’t have expertise in any of these areas, but still feel that you have something to offer, please still get in touch. This is a unique opportunity to join a creative and passionate team and help shape the future of the organisation.
As a trustee you will oversee the operation of a major cultural cinema exhibiting a diverse film programme with first run and retrospectives of curated work, including archive, documentaries, and many unique one-off programmes with regular visiting filmmakers. We are home to some very successful film festivals and host many unique events each month.
Through our trading subsidiary, we also manage the Work Station creative industries business centre, operate a successful bar/café, and conferencing facilities.
Our Trustees work closely with the Chair, Chief Executive and Senior Management Team to provide clear strategic direction to the organisation, helping to agree policy, define goals, set targets, and evaluate performance.
As with all our Trustees, we are looking for candidates who can demonstrate excellent communication skills and have a good understanding of local, regional, and cultural agendas.
Trustees are required to attend approximately 5 Board meetings per year (usually held on the last Monday of the month, 6 pm – 8 pm) and to offer relevant support and specialist knowledge to enable us to meet the objectives of our business.
The post is not paid but all Trustees receive invitations to special events and have a weekly allocation of free cinema tickets (subject to availability).
