Job description

Plan International UK is a global children’s charity. We work to give every child the same chance in life.

An opportunity has arisen in our Disaster Risk Management team (DRMU) for an experienced Deployable Emergency Programme Manager.

The DRMU is a leader in the development of Plan’s global disaster work and is committed to becoming a centre of excellence in key technical areas. The DRMU team supports country offices dealing with rapid onset and protracted disasters arising from natural and complex causes.

In this important role, you will deploy (often at short notice) to Country Offices. During deployments, you will lead and manage other response or programme staff, typically technical specialists, programme managers and support functions, to develop specific humanitarian response strategies and design rapid needs assessments, ensuring a clear focus on the specific needs of children and in particular girls. You’ll be responsible for adherence to appropriate programme quality standards in the design and implementation of all programmes. You’ll also work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders in the areas of fundraising, donor engagement and business development, representation and advocacy and capacity building.

You will have solid experience of the following:

• Field experience in designing and implementing emergency projects and programmes, alongside good understanding of gender issues and integration of gender in programming

• Undertaking effective research and analysis to inform opportunity pipelines

• External representation to donors’ senior staff, in particular DFID and UN, at HQ and field levels

• Building strong partnerships with new and existing donors, (I)NGOs and other key partners

As this role will travel to programmes in country, a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required.

Please click on the button below to apply.

The deadline for applications is 9:00am on 8 June 2020

Interviews will take place on 18/19 June 2020

Due to the nature of our work with children and young people, we follow rigorous child safeguarding policies and procedures in our recruitment process. As a result, some of our roles are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure by the Disclosure and Barring Service. A criminal record will not necessarily bar you from joining us as an employee or volunteer; this will depend on the circumstances of any offences.
