About Salix
Salix’s role is to support the UK government in driving the transition to a low-carbon future by delivering and administering grant and loan funding schemes on behalf of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), the Department for Education (DfE) and the Scottish and Welsh Governments, to public sector organisations.
The purpose of these schemes is to finance delivery of capital energy efficiency and heat decarbonisation projects within public sector non-domestic buildings in England.Salix is now the Delivery Agent for the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund and the Homes Upgrade Grant.
Salix plays a key role in increasing awareness across the public sector throughout the UK of the importance of energy efficiency and heat decarbonisation.
The role
The Project Accountant will work with the Senior Project Accountant and the finance team in delivering an efficient financial control environment within Salix, and actively contribute to continuous improvement projects. They will work closely with members of the Salix finance team as well as build relationships with other staff across Salix.
The successful candidate will work with the Senior Project Accountant to deliver and improve our financial controls framework through effective design and implementation of policies, procedures, and process change. The successful candidate will be expected to assist with financial controls advice and be able to respond to and resolve problems. Together with the Senior Project Accountant, the successful candidate will take a proactive stance in relation to changes in legislation and the organization to ensure a strong control environment.
What you will need to succeed

Role Description
The Peter Sowerby Foundation is a significant, charitable grant-maker, supporting work in the fields of health, education and community, the arts and the environment.
Registered with the Charity Commission in 2011, the Foundation aims to fulfil the charitable aims of its late settlor, Dr Peter Sowerby, who was a retired GP from rural North Yorkshire and founding partner in Egton Medical Information Systems (EMIS), which now provides database and records management software for over 10,000 healthcare organisations in the UK.
The Foundation is currently managed by a board of four Trustees. These include David Aspinall, Chair of Trustees; Dr David Stables, Peter Sowerby’s former GP partner and an expert in management information systems; Sara Siegel Poulios, lead partner in Deloitte’s Healthcare Strategy who has been seconded to senior positions in the Department of Health and NHS, and Dr Carole Longson, Chief Scientific Officer at the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI).

We’re looking for a partial or fully qualified finance professional with practical experience, ideally in a UK charity environment. We use Xero and associated tools, so it’s helpful if you know that system – or have the ability to quickly pick it up. We’ve been on a journey to digitise and automate our finance processes over the past couple of years and we’re looking for someone who is keen to continue improving our processes. You’ll need to be detail-oriented and committed to making sure we follow our own policies and procedures, and act in accordance with relevant legislation. Oasis Community Hub Oldham team are now in a position to employ one experienced team leader to work alongside our Strategic Community Development Lead and the children’s, youth and community hub team in Oldham. This positive, adaptable and talented leader will help us strengthen, sustain and grow our wide range of programmes.
The role will encompass community and youth support activities, delivering quality, diverse and integrated services, as well as leading a small and passionate team. The role will be focussed on the Oldham East community (surrounding Oasis Academies Clarksfield and Leesbrook), as part of Oasis Hub Oldham.
Key responsibilities will be:
· To build positive and supportive working partnerships with the local community, supporting them to access Hub services and activities to develop their skills, knowledge and aspirations.
· To work with the Strategic Community Development Lead to create a plan to deliver joined up services that address the needs of the local neighbourhood, including community projects, holiday provision, and volunteer, family and youth support.
· Provide leadership and line management to community and youth project workers, building a positive and well-functioning team that models the Oasis ethos and values.
· Lead on all aspects of the day-to-day administration and supervision of a team of volunteers and their activities, developing and inspiring them to develop best possible practice to meet the needs of the local Hub deploying volunteers’ strengths and acting as an authentic role model.
The successful post holder must have:
· Self-motivation, resilience, with excellent organisational and inter-personal skills.
· Successful experience of working with parents / carers (voluntary or paid work)
· Proven experience of community development
· Experience working with challenging behaviours and attitudes
· Knowledge of safeguarding practices and health and safety

We offer social, leisure and educational activities and welfare support to our members. We facilitate continued and new friendships, focused on local branches across the UK and postal members. We offer national support and events, including a hugely popular national conference.

This is a new, senior role within our well-established charity and we expect the post holder to play a proactive and productive role as a member of the organisation’s small Management Team.
