Functional Skills Tutor

During the past ten years, we’ve grown from a small-scale housing organisation to a leading provider of integration, employment and housing services for refugees and newly arrived communities in the UK.

Through our training subsidiary, Himilo Training, we are successfully expanding our services to deliver training, development and employment opportunities to the broader communities in which we operate.

We are currently looking for a Functional Skills Tutor to join our team in Bristol and deliver the SSU (Supporting Skills for Unemployed) learning programme.

Your Role

As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will be tasked with delivering functional skills courses for the SSU programme focusing on maths, English and ICT at entry level and entry level 2.

Acting as a role model for our positive culture, you will plan, prepare, deliver and evaluate courses for learners including learning materials for each session.

Your role will also involve:

- Providing specialist information, advice and support to learners
- Creating learning aims
- Monitoring, marking and assessing learners’ work and progress
- Registering learners on the correct awarding body site and qualification title
- Completing daily session plans and uploading these to Atlas
- Maintaining learners’ records, including assessments records, plans and progress
- Maintaining Ofsted quality
- Supporting the Teaching Co-ordinator in the successful operational management of the curriculum
- Contacting your learners on the day they fail to attend
- Ensuring learner surveys are carried out and monitored

About You

To be considered as a Functional Skills Tutor, you will need:

- At least two years’ experience within FE and/or the training sector
- To hold a teaching qualification (Cert Ed or PGCE)
- The ability to deliver up to Level 2 in maths and English
- The ability to complete your own admin, lesson plans and upload these to our online platforms
- To have proficient ICT knowledge and experience
