ABOUT BLACK ROOTZ

Black Rootz is a multigenerational growing project providing opportunities for Black and racially minoritised people to grow food for themselves, their families and their communities. Black Rootz was established in 2019 by a collective of Black growers in Haringey who recognised the need to organise to challenge the deep inequalities in the growing and food systems. Over the past 5 years, Black Rootz has developed a holistic practice for Black and racially minoritised communities incorporating intergenerational knowledge transfer, increased access to land and food sovereignty, regenerative environmental practices and reduced food inequality.

Black Rootz has been incubated as a project within The Ubele Initiative since 2019. As an established name in the growing community, it is now building towards an independent future.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Project Manager is a new role that will provide hands on management capacity to Black Rootz. The role will bring experience and energy to support the delivery and continued development of the project’s core activities; the Community Growing Programme and a new workshop series. The Project Manager will take on a management position and, with support from Ubele, help the project to navigate decisions that will enable Black Rootz to achieve its overall social, environmental, and operational ambitions. 

The successful candidate will be central in Black Rootz’ journey towards a more independent and sustainable future. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with the complexity andholistic nature of Black Rootz and will be committed to its values. As a small team, the Project Manager will be as comfortable making plans and big decisions as they are rolling their sleeves up and being hands on to support the team. While this is a fixed-term contract, we expect the role to be extended and grow over time.

Location: Hybrid working part London Office (Islington, London) part home work (the post holder will work a minimum of 1 day per week in the office) or flexible location home working.

Who we are looking for 

We are looking for a Digital Project Manager to join our ambitious and growing type 1 diabetes charity, JDRF, as part of the digital and marketing team.

As a digital professional with previous charity or digital agency experience, you will be at the forefront of helping to drive digital transformation, building awareness of the work we do and the life-changing impact of type 1 diabetes.

You will support the implementation of a digital programme plan to carry out the development and refresh of several digital products and platforms in line with user needs and business objectives. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders, digital agencies and platform providers to ensure that developments meet quality standards around design, usability, user experience and accessibility, ensuring excellent experiences for our audiences. You will help co-ordinate tasks and resources and track project progress, contribute to user acceptance testing and content audits and updates. You will also be a confident advocate for UX best practice and building brand awareness.

An experienced digital professional, you may have worked for a charity or digital agency before in a similar role. You will be motivated by delivering high quality digital products and will be familiar with a range of digital channels and platforms. You will be ever-curious, always seeking to improve your skills and adopt new approaches.

Who are Women’s Aid?   

Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. We are a federation of over 170 organisations which provide just under 300 local lifesaving services to women and children across England. Purpose of the Project Manager role:   

As Project Manager, the successful candidate will play an integral role in working across the organisation to ensure that sound project management principles are being used in all aspects of our work. You will be responsible for delivering cross-cutting, significant and complex programmes and projects that underpin Women’s Aid’s strategy. 

You will support the Head of Strategic Programmes to effectively schedule and monitor the projects, programmes and core business activity across the organisation, in line with our key strategic goals.

Key duties and responsibilities of the Project Manager: 

• Full scale project management of key strategic projects across a project’s full life cycle, to deliver within scope, on time, on budget, and within quality commitments. This includes designing project models, allocating resources, scheduling, monitoring, stakeholder communications, reporting and budget management. 

• Assessing and recommending to the senior leadership team the viability and suitability of new proposed projects. 

• Continually ensuring project specific risks are identified, assessed and mitigated, and escalating to senior managers as appropriate.

• Monitoring and managing interdependencies between projects across the organisation, and ensuring that projects are delivered in line with Women’s Aid’s strategic objectives.

What we are looking for in our Project Manager: 

Essential: 

• Substantial (5+ years) proven experience in project planning and execution, monitoring and reporting, and achievement of objectives. 

• Experience managing large (£50k+) and complex (e.g. cross-cutting multiple teams/functions) budgets. 

• Ability to work at pace and deliver to deadlines, prioritising work depending on organisational need.

• Ability to interpret top-line briefs and turn these into practical action.

• Ability to identify and manage project-based risks and issues, identify key decision points and define options for decision-makers. 

• Ability to work on own initiative to meet objectives in a complex, changing environment 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including facilitation and presenting to a wide range of audiences 

• Knowledge of a variety of project management principles and frameworks.

The Death Penalty Project is recruiting a project manager to join our team. We're looking for a self-started with experience of managing donor-funded projects and a passion for human rights. We are open to flexible working requests.

The Death Penalty Project (DPP) is a is a legal action NGO with special consultative status before the United Nations Economic and Social Council. We provide free representation to people facing the death penalty worldwide, with a focus on the Commonwealth. We use the law to protect those facing execution and promote fair criminal justice systems, where the rights of all people are respected.

We believe the death penalty is a cruel and inhuman punishment that discriminates against the poorest and most disadvantaged members of society. We want to see it consigned to history.

What we do:

We represent and assist those facing the death penalty and other cruel punishments, free of charge.

We deliver targeted and practical capacity building to judges, lawyers, mental health professionals, and others working within the criminal justice system.

We commission original research and publish training resources that challenge misconceptions and deepen understanding around the death penalty.

We engage with governments, policymakers, and other key stakeholders in a constructive dialogue on how abolition of the death penalty can be achieved.

The Role:

Key responsibilities:

• Manage the coordination of ongoing project activities, including the commissioning and publishing of research, training and capacity building plans, and advocacy and engagement efforts.

• Keep up to date on relevant political developments in our priority geographies and brief other members of the team as needed.

• Work closely with Communications colleagues to develop and feature impact data and stories that highlight our research, capacity building, and advocacy work on DPP’s website and social media.

Knowledge, skills and experience

Essential:

• At least five years of relevant experience in the non-profit and / or human rights sector
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a strong track record of producing high quality donor reports and/or briefing documents
• Experience managing logframes and/or other monitoring and evaluation frameworks
• Experience managing EU and/or FCDO-funded projects, or similar
• A self-starter that enjoys working in a small team, with rapidly changing priorities and deadlines, and with a range of responsibilities
• A strong interest in human rights issues related to The Death Penalty Project’s work

As Shop Support & Projects Manager, you will provide focused support on defined areas, working alongside the Shop Manager to understand the shop, community, and proposition.

Working closely with the Shop Manager in our Teddington shop, you'll take on a varied role delivering on key areas of work to enable the delivery of the shop's potential. From supporting volunteer recruitment, to taking on responsibility for day-to-day operations or leadership of the shop, you'll provide key support and additional capacity to the Shop Manager to enable the shop's continued success.   

About You 

You will be someone with exceptional project coordination skills, who understands the importance of community and enjoys supporting people to exercise similar passions through volunteering. 

You'll bring: 

• Project coordination or operations experience within retail or a transferable setting, e.g. community engagement, volunteer management, retail operations etc. 

• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build & maintain positive working relationships with a variety of people.

• A flexible, positive and resilient attitude, able to work at pace in a fast-moving environment. 

• Results driven approach with experience of working to targets. 

• Experience and confidence using a range of IT platforms including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), as well as systems for the management of other areas (e.g. reporting, volunteer management).

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic project manager, with basic carbon literacy and an understanding of the schools system in the UK. The role will be responsible for the day-to-day operational delivery and iteration of Count Your Carbon – a comprehensive, web-based carbon footprint calculator, built in collaboration with, and for, schools. Funding has been secured for a large update to the calculator, which will involve working with subject experts, extensive project planning, supplier management and stakeholder-relationship management. The role will also have line-management responsibility for administration staff.

The successful applicant will have experience of developing project outlines and proposals; creating and maintaining project management documentation (such as operational plans, schedules and risk logs); managing, using and reporting from large datasets; delivering evaluating projects and implementing changes based on findings; reporting to varied stakeholders; and supporting fundraising activity.

The Chewing Gum Task Force is a partnership between Defra, the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs in Northern Ireland, Scottish Government and Welsh Government and chewing gum producers including Mars Wrigley and Perfetti Van Melle which aims to clean up historic gum staining from UK high streets and change behaviour so that more people bin their gum.

The Project Manager will lead on overall administration of the scheme and manage the cleansing grant programme for councils, working alongside partner organisation Behaviour Change. In Years 1 and 2 of the scheme, participating councils have seen reductions in gum littering of up to 80% in the first two months. Now in Year 3, we will shortly distribute more than £1.2m funding to councils across the UK.

This is an exciting role within a fast-paced charity. You will have a proven track record in project management, ideally in environmental projects and/or grant schemes. Excellent organisational and record keeping skills are a must, along with the ability to form good working relationships with Chewing Gum Task Force stakeholders.

This post is a 12 month fixed-term contract but we’re working hard with our funding partners to secure the necessary funds to make the post permanent as part of our drive to increase our reach and our impact.

We are seeking a dynamic and proactive individual to join our Digital & QA team as a Digital Project Manager. This role will primarily be responsible for project managing the development of Ygam’s new website from concept to handover in addition to some of Ygam’s other planned digital projects. 

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of successfully managing digital projects, from initial briefing to final implementation and review, with a thorough understanding of agile methodologies, values and procedures. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you'll be engaging with internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. You should be accurate, organised and able to manage multiple projects concurrently. While you should be capable of working independently, you should also excel in a team environment, fostering collaboration and driving towards shared goals.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

• Lead the process to procure external developers for the online portal and manage the relationship with the appointed developer.
• Maintain the project plan, monitoring progress and ensuring milestones are met.
• Manage relationship with appointed developer.
• Engage and consult with internal and external stakeholders, enabling scoping exercises to capture all required functionality and specifications, and developing risk logs, to ensure the website meets user requirements.
• Anticipate potential issues and dependencies, highlight project risks and develop proactive mitigation plans.
• Manage web development budget.
• Operate within agreed timescales.
• Be collaborative, efficient, analytical with great diligence, ensuring consistent improvement in the quality of our outputs.
• Additional digital projects as identified in line with Ygam Strategy including Safer Gambling training development, working with internal and external stakeholders.

Development Manager required to help with our dynamic photography teaching projects for young creatives  5- 18 years; this includes structuring the photography projects, developing the organisation,  fundraising, grant applications, taking an interest in the community and its needs. Development experience and enthusiam required.  

We are also looking for an intern/volunteer. 

35 hours per week

Salary: £38,390 if based outside London or £41,189 if based in London

In this pivotal role you will determine the direction of a range of digital products by aligning audience needs with business and technological requirements. We will look to you to take the lead for planning and developing high profile and quality digital products and services, and to work with internal and external stakeholders to agree, communicate and deliver them.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you must have: 

-proven experience of championing and driving projects through the full product lifecycle

-strong Project Management skills and experience of prioritising workloads across multiple projects

-excellent agency relationship management skills

-ability to organise time and resources effectively; gathering requirements, creating roadmaps, and prioritising the activities needed to drive the project forward

-a strong interest in digital and working for children and young people

-good inter-personal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and lead

-assertiveness, creativity, collaborative working and self-motivation as key skills in your armoury to deliver the best results possible

-a strong methodology for managing projects effectively and for solving problems quickly as they arise e.g. Agile, Waterfall, PRINCE2.
