Job description

A young adult carer is someone aged 15-21 who cares, unpaid, for a friend or family member who has an illness, disability, mental health problem or addiction. Some caring roles are big, others small. Either way, at Carers' Hub Lambeth, we’re here to help. As the Service Coordinator - Young Adult Carers, you will lead in this area of our work.  The project sits within our Young Carers Service and as such you will have the opportunity to work with young carers aged 5 and up too.

We know that friendship, support and trying new things can provide the boost that young adult carers need, so we split our work into three areas:

• We provide 1-2-1 support, tailored around their needs – whether educational, emotional or something else

• We organise a mixture of fun activities throughout the year

• We run a monthly young adult carers meet up group

At the moment, we are working from home and providing our services via phone calls and video calls.  You will need to be creative to come up with new and engaging ways to connect with the young adults, be willing to test out new ways of working and be comfortable with rapid change.   When the lockdown ends, we will be back in our offices in Brixton.

We are a small friendly charity based in Brixton about to celebrate our 2nd birthday.   As we are still relatively new, you will have loads of opportunities to get involved in other areas of work to build on your existing skills and learn some new ones too!
